Multiplication Groups of Abelian Torsion-Free Groups of Finite Rank

For an Abelian group $G$, any homomorphism $μ\colon G\otimes G\rightarrow G$ is called a \textsf{multiplication} on $G$. The set $\text{Mult}\,G$ of all multiplications on an Abelian group $G$ itself is an Abelian group with respect to addition; the group is called the \textsf{multiplication group} of $G$. Let $\mathcal{A}_0$ be the class of all reduced block-rigid almost completely decomposable groups of ring type with cyclic regulator quotient. In this paper, for groups $G\in \mathcal{A}_0$, we describe groups $\text{Mult}\,G$. We prove that for $G\in \mathcal{A}_0$, the group $\text{Mult}\,G$ also belongs to the class $\mathcal{A}_0$. For any group $G\in \mathcal{A}_0$, we describe the rank, the regulator, the regulator index, invariants of near-isomorphism, a main decomposition, and a standard representation of the group $\text{Mult}\,G$.

Centrally Essential Semigroup Algebras

For a cancellative semigroup S and a field F, it is proved that the semigroup algebra FS is centrally essential if and only if the group of fractions $G_S$ of the semigroup $S$ exists and the group algebra $FG_S$ of $G_S$ is centrally essential. The semigroup algebra of a cancellative semigroup is centrally essential if and only if it has the classical right ring of fractions which is a centrally essential ring. There exist non-commutative centrally essential semigroup algebras over fields of zero characteristic (this contrasts with the known fact that centrally essential group algebras over fields of zero characteristic are commutative).

Centrally Essential Semirings

A semiring is said to be centrally essential if for every non-zero element $x$, there exist two non-zero central elements $y, z$ with $xy = z$. We give some examples of non-commutative centrally essential semirings and describe some properties of additively cancellative centrally essential semirings.

Ideals and Factor Rings of Centrally Essential Rings

It is proved that the ring $R$ with center $Z(R)$, such that the module $R_{Z(R)}$ is an essential extension of the module $Z(R)_{Z(R)}$, is not necessarily right quasi-invariant, i.e., maximal right ideals of the ring $R$ are not necessarily ideals. We use central essentiality to obtain conditions which are sufficient to the property that all maximal right ideals are ideals

Distributive Invariant Centrally Essential Rings

In recent years, centrally essential rings have been intensively studied in ring theory. In particular, they find applications in homological algebra, group rings, and the structural theory of rings. The class of essentially central rings strongly extends the class of commutative rings. For such rings, a number of recent papers contain positive answers to some important questions from ring theory that previously had positive answers for commutative rings and negative answers in the general case. This work is devoted to a similar topic. A familiar description of right Noetherian, right distributive centrally essential rings is generalized on a larger class of rings. Let $A$ be a ring with prime radical $P(A)$. It is proved that $A$ is a right distributive, right invariant centrally essential ring and $P(A)$ is a finitely generated right ideal such that the factor-ring $A/P(A)$ does non contain an infinite direct sum of non-zero ideals if and only if $A=A_1\times\cdots\times A_n$, where every ring $A_k$ is either a commutative Prüfer domain or an Artinian uniserial ring.

Rings on Abelian Torsion-Free Groups of Finite Rank

In the class of reduced Abelian torsion-free groups $G$ of finite rank, we describe TI-groups, this means that every associative ring on $G$ is filial. If every associative multiplication on $G$ is the zero multiplication, then $G$ is called a $nil_a$-group. It is proved that a reduced Abelian torsion-free group $G$ of finite rank is a $TI$-group if and only if $G$ is a homogeneous Murley group or $G$ is a $nil_a$-group. We also study the interrelations between the class of homogeneous Murley groups and the class of $nil_a$-groups. For any type $t\ne (\infty,\infty,\ldots)$ and every integer $n>1$, there exist $2^{\aleph_0}$ pairwise non-quasi-isomorphic homogeneous Murley groups of type $t$ and rank $n$ which are $nil_a$-groups. We describe types $t$ such that there exists a homogeneous Murley group of type $t$ which is not a $nil_a$-group. This paper will be published in Beiträge zur Algebra und Geometrie / Contributions to Algebra and Geometry.

Centrally Essential Torsion-Free Rings of Finite Rank

It is proved that centrally essential rings, whose additive groups of finite rank are torsion-free groups of finite rank, are quasi-invariant but not necessarily invariant. Torsion-free Abelian groups of finite rank with centrally essential endomorphism rings are faithful. The paper will appear in Beiträge zur Algebra und Geometrie / Contributions to Algebra and Geometry.

Semidistributive Laurent Series Rings

If $A$ is a ring with automorphism $φ$ and the skew Laurent series ring $A((x,φ))$ is a right semidistributive semilocal ring then $A$ is a right semidistributive right Artinian ring. The Laurent series ring $A((x))$ is a right semidistributive semilocal ring if and only if $A$ is a right semidistributive right Artinian ring. The study is supported by Russian Scientific Foundation (project 16-11-10013).

Right Serial Skew Laurent Series Rings

Let $A$ be a ring and $φ$ its automorphism. It is proved that skew Laurent series ring $A((x,φ))$ is a right serial ring if and only if $A$ is a right serial right Artinian ring.

Centrally Essential Endomorphism Rings of Abelian Groups

We study Abelian groups $A$ with centrally essential endomorphism ring $\text{End}\,A$. If $A$ is a such group which is either a torsion group or a non-reduced group, then the ring $\text{End}\,A$ is commutative. We give examples of Abelian torsion-free groups of finite rank with non-commutative centrally essential endomorphism rings. The paper will appear in Communications in Algebra.

Distributive Noetherian Centrally Essential Rings

It is proved that a ring $A$ is a right or left Noetherian, right distributive centrally essential ring if and only if $A=A_1\times\cdots\times A_n$, where each of the rings $A_i$ is either a commutative Dedekind domain or a uniserial Artinian centrally essential (not necessarily commutative) ring. Uniserial Noetherian Centrally Essential Rings

It is proved that a ring $R$ is a right uniserial, right Noetherian centrally essential ring if and only if $R$ is a commutative discrete valuation domain or a left and right Artinian, left and right uniserial ring. It is also proved that there exist non-commutative uniserial Artinian centrally essential rings. Victor Markov is supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, project 17-01-00895-A. Cayley-Dickson Process and Centrally Essential Rings

We describe associative center $N(R)$ and the center $Z(R)$ of the ring $R$ obtained by applying the generalized Cayley-Dickson construction and we find conditions under which the ring $R$ is $N$-essential or centrally essential. The obtained results are applied to generalized quaternion rings and octonion rings; we use them to construct an example of a non-associative centrally essential ring. A ring $R$ with center $C$ is said to be \textit{centrally essential} if the module $R_C$ is an essential extension of the module $C_C$. In the paper, we study groups whose group algebras over fields are centrally essential rings. We focus on the centrally essential modular group algebras of finite groups over fields of nonzero characteristic.
