Pattern Synthesizing of the Concentric Ring Arrays Using Recursive Least Square Method

This letter presents a recursive technique to synthesize the array factor (AF) of a concentric ring array. In this method, first, the problem is modeled using the traditional least square method (LSM). In the second step, a recursive technique is applied to the defined problem. It is shown that for many practical ring arrays, only a few iteration number is sufficient to obtain a solution with high accuracy. To evaluate the performance and benefits of the proposed method, various concentric ring arrays with different array factor, including equi-ripple pattern, pattern with deep nulls, flat-top array factor, are examined. It is shown that the introduced procedure is a very noble candidate for this purpose.

Investigation of Iterative Techniques for Synthesizing of the Array Factor of the Antenna Arrays

In this essay, several iterative techniques are investigated for synthesizing of the array factor of the antenna array. These iterative techniques include Richardson method, Jacobi method, Gauss-Seidel method, Successive-over relaxation (SOR) method. It is shown that these iterative techniques can be successfully applied to synthesize of the array factor of any arbitrary linear, planar, or even ring arrays. Traditionally, least square method (LSM) is used for this purpose. However, LSM cannot be directly applied for any practical arrays. In other words, LSM is not a general approach, and it should be mixed with other techniques to find the magnitude and phase of the excitation coefficients of each element of the under-studying arrays. Obtained results show that the proposed method, offers considerable improvements for this target.

New Method for Studying the Response of the Slot Antennas in the Presence of HEMP

Electromagnetic Interference that is created by any methods can have an important effect on electronic and telecommunication devices. Thus, the effect of electromagnetic waves on communication systems is particularly important. Nowadays, the slot antennas are an inseparable part of many communication devices. In this paper, two methods have been introduced to evaluate the effect of interference wave on slot antennas. The first method is a classic technique based on Maxwell's equations that studied the impact of electromagnetic waves on slot antennas by using of the radiation integrals. In the second method, the slots, by using the Babinets principle are modeled with the linear antenna. Then, using linear antenna circuit and then, the equivalent circuit antennas at the receiver mode is used. Eventually, the effect of interfering waves, by calculating the voltage induced in the antenna port, is investigated. Simulation results are given to verify the usefulness of the two introduced methods. The results clearly show the reasonable outcome of the proposed methods in study of electromagnetic interference compared to the simulation results.
