The I^G J^{PC}=1^- 1^{-+} Tetraquark States

We study the tetraquark states with I^G J^{PC}=1^- 1^{-+} in the QCD sum rule. After exhausting all possible flavor structures, we analyses both the SVZ and finite energy sum rules. Both approaches lead to a mass around 1.6 GeV for the state with the quark contents q q q_bar q_bar, and around 2.0 GeV for the state with the quark contents q s q_bar s_bar. The flavor structure 3_bar * 6_bar + 6 * 3 is preferred. Our analysis strongly indicates that both pi1(1600) and pi1(2015) are also compatible with the exotic tetraquark interpretation, which are sometimes labeled as candidates of the 1^{-+} hybrid mesons. Moreover one of their dominant decay modes is a pair of axial-vector and pseudoscalar mesons such as b1(1235) pi, which is sometimes considered as the characteristic decay mode of the hybrid mesons.

The Y(2175) State in the QCD Sum Rule

We study the mass of the state Y(2175) of J^{PC} = 1^{--} in the QCD sum rule. We construct both the diquark-antidiquark currents (ss)(s_bar s_bar) and the meson-meson currents (s_bar s)(s_bar s). We find that there are two independent currents for both cases, and derive the relations between them. The OPE convergence of these two currents is sufficiently fast, which enables us to perform good sum rule analysis. Both the SVZ sum rule and the finite energy sum rule lead to a mass around 2.3+-0.4 GeV, which is consistent with the observed mass within the uncertainties of the present QCD sum rule. The coupling of the four-quark currents to lower lying states such as ϕ(1020) turns out to be rather small. We also discuss possible decay properties of Y(2175) if it is a tetraquark state.

Origin of resonances in the chiral unitary approach

We study the origin of the resonances associated with pole singularities of the scattering amplitude in the chiral unitary approach. We propose a "natural renormalization" scheme using the low-energy interaction and the general principle of the scattering theory. We develop a method to distinguish dynamically generated resonances from genuine quark states [Castillejo-Dalitz-Dyson (CDD) poles] using the natural renormalization scheme and phenomenological fitting. Analyzing physical meson-baryon scatterings, we find that the Lambda(1405) resonance is largely dominated by the meson-baryon molecule component. In contrast, the N(1535) resonance requires a sizable CDD pole contribution, while the effect of the meson-baryon dynamics is also important.

Chiral Properties of Baryon Fields with Flavor SU(3) Symmetry

We investigate chiral properties of local (non-derivative) fields of baryons consisting of three quarks with flavor SU(3) symmetry. We construct explicitly independent local three-quark fields belonging to definite Lorentz and flavor representations. Chiral symmetry is spontaneously broken and therefore the baryon fields can have different chiral representations. It turns out that the allowed chiral representations are strongly correlated with the Lorentz group representations due to the color and spatial structure of the local three-quark fields. We discuss some implications of the allowed chiral symmetry representations on phenomenological Lagrangians with chiral U(3)_L \otimes U(3)_R symmetry.

The structure of N(1535) in the aspect of chiral symmetry

The structure of N(1535) is discussed in dynamical and symmetry aspects based on chiral symmetry. We find that the N(1535) in chiral unitary model has implicitly some components other than meson-baryon one. We also discuss the N(1535) in the chiral doublet picture.

Exotic hadrons and SU(3) chiral dynamics

We explore a possibility to generate exotic hadrons dynamically in the scattering of hadrons. The s-wave scattering amplitude of an arbitrary hadron with the Nambu-Goldstone boson is constructed so as to satisfy the unitarity condition and the chiral low energy theorem. We find that the chiral interaction for the exotic channels is in most cases repulsive, and that the strength of the possible attractive interaction is uniquely determined. We show that the attractive interaction in exotic channels is not strong enough to generate a bound state, while the interaction in nonexotic channel generate bound states which are considered to be the origin of some resonances observed in nature.

Lambda(1405) in chiral SU(3) dynamics

We discuss several aspects of the Lambda(1405) resonance in relation to the recent theoretical developments in chiral dynamics. We derive an effective single-channel KbarK N interaction based on chiral SU(3) coupled-channel approach, emphasizing the important role of the pi Sigma channel and the structure of the Lambda(1405) in Kbar N phenomenology. In order to clarify the structure of the resonance, we study the behavior with the number of colors (Nc) of the poles associated with the Lambda(1405), and argue the physical meaning of the renormalization procedure.

Production of the pentaquark exotic baryon Xi_5 in bar{K} N scattering : bar{K} N -> K Xi_5 and bar{K} N -> K* Xi_5

We investigate the production of the newly found pentaquark exotic baryon Xi_5 in the bar{K} N -> K Xi_5 and the bar{K} N -> K* Xi_5 reactions at the tree level. We consider both positive- and negative parities of the Xi_5. The reactions are dominated by the s- and u-channel processes, and the resulting cross sections depend very much on the parity of Xi_5 and on the type of form factor. We have seen that the cross sections for the positive-parity Xi_5 are generally about a hundred times larger than those of the negative-parity one. This large difference in the cross sections will be useful for further study of pentaquark baryons.

Light Scalar Tetraquark Mesons in the QCD Sum Rule

We study the lowest-lying scalar mesons in the QCD sum rule by considering them as tetraquark states. We find that there are five independent currents for each state with a certain flavor structure. By forming linear combinations, we find that some mixed currents give reliable QCD sum rules. Among various tetraquark currents, we consider those which are constructed by the diquarks having anti-symmetric and symmetric flavor structures. That the results of the QCD sum rule derived from the two types of currents are similar suggests that the tetraquark states can have a large mixing between different flavor structures.

Bottom Baryons

Recently CDF and D0 collaborations observed several bottom baryons. In this work we perform a systematic study of the masses of bottom baryons up to $1/m_Q$ in the framework of heavy quark effective field theory (HQET) using the QCD sum rule approach. The extracted chromo-magnetic splitting between the bottom baryon heavy doublet agrees well with the experimental data.

Light Scalar Mesons in the QCD Sum Rule

We study the light scalar mesons in the QCD sum rule. We find that there are five independent scalar tetraquark currents in the local form, and we perform QCD sum rule analysis using both these currents and their combinations. Compared with the sum rules by conventional \bar{q} q currents, our result supports a tetraquark structure for low-lying scalar mesons.

A new nucleon resonance in eta photoproduction

We present in this talk recent investigations on the nucleon-like resonance N*(1675) newly found in eta photoproduction by the GRAAL, Tohoku LNS-gamma and CB-ELSA collaborations. We focus on the production mechanism of the N*(1675), examining its spin and parity theoretically within the framework of the effective Lagrangian method. We expliucitly consider D_{13}(1520), S_{11}(1535), S_{11}(1650), D_{15}(1675), P_{11}(1710), P_{13}(1720) as well as possible background contributions. We calculate the differential cross sections and beam asymmetries for the neutron and proton targets. It turns out that there is manifest isospin asymmetry in eta photoproduction, which can be explained by the asymmetry in the transition magnetic moments: mu_{gamma p p*} =<mu_{gamma n n*}. Moreover, we find that the spin-1/2 state is preferred and this observation implies that the new resonance may be identified as a non-strangeness member of the baryon antidecuplet.

Structure of the Roper Resonance with Diquark Correlations

We study electromagnetic properties of the nucleon and Roper resonance in a chiral quark-diquark model including two kinds of diquarks needed to describe the nucleon: scalar and axial-vector diquarks. The nucleon and Roper resonance are described as superpositions of two quark-diquark bound states of a quark and a scalar diquark and of a quark and an axial-vector diquark. Electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon and Roper resonance are obtained from one-loop diagrams where the quark and diquarks are coupled by a photon. We include the effects of intrinsic properties of the diquarks: the intrinsic form factors both of the diquarks and the anomalous magnetic moment of the axial-vector diquark. The electric form factors of the proton and neutron reasonably agree with the experiments due to the inclusions of the diquark sizes, while the magnetic moments become smaller than the experimental values because of the scalar dominance in the nucleon. The charge radii of the Roper resonance are almost comparable with those of the nucleon.

QCD Sum Rule Study of the Masses of Light Tetraquark Scalar Mesons

We study the low-lying scalar mesons of light u, d, s flavors in the QCD sum rule. Having all possible combinations of tetraquark currents in the local form, QCD sum rule analysis has been carefully performed. We found that using the appropriate tetraquark currents, the masses of sigma, kappa, f_0 and a_0 mesons appear in the region of 0.6 -- 1 GeV with the expected ordering. The results are compared with that of the conventional \bar{q} q currents, where the masses are considerably larger.

Chiral Properties of Baryon Interpolating Fields

We study the chiral transformation properties of all possible local (non-derivative) interpolating field operators for baryons consisting of three quarks with two flavors, assuming good isospin symmetry. We derive and use the relations/identities among the baryon operators with identical quantum numbers that follow from the combined colour, Dirac and isospin Fierz transformations. These relations reduce the number of independent baryon operators with any given spin and isospin. The Fierz identities also effectively restrict allowed baryon chiral multiplets. It turns out that the chiral multiplets of the baryons are equivalent to their Lorentz representation. For the two independent nucleon operators the only permissible chiral multiplet is the fundamental one $(\frac12,0)\oplus(0,\frac12)$. For the $Δ$, admissible Lorentz representations are $(1,\frac12)\oplus (\frac12,1)$ and $(\frac32,0)\oplus(0,\frac32)$. In the case of the $(1,\frac12)\oplus (\frac12,1)$ chiral multiplet the $I(J)=\frac32(\frac32)$ $Δ$ field has one $I(J)=\frac12(\frac32)$ chiral partner; otherwise it has none. We also consider the Abelian ($U_A(1)$) chiral transformation properties of fields and show that each baryon comes in two varieties: 1) with Abelian axial charge +3; and 2) with Abelian axial charge -1. In case of the nucleon these are the two Ioffe's fields; in case of the $Δ$, the $(1,\frac12)\oplus (\frac12,1)$ multiplet has Abelian axial charge -1 and the $(\frac32,0)\oplus(0,\frac32)$ multiplet has Abelian axial charge +3.

A new candidate for non-strangeness pentaquarks: N*(1675)

We study a new nucleon resonance from eta photoproduction, which was observed at sqrt{s}=1675 MeV with a narrow decay width (~10 MeV) by the Tohoku LNS group as well as the GRAAL collaboration. Using an effective Lagrangian approach, we compute differential cross sections for the eta photoproduction. In addition to N*(1675,1/2+-,3/2+-), we employ six other nucleon resonances, i.e. N*(1520,1535,1650,1675,1710,1720) and vector meson exchanges which are the most relevant ones to this reaction process. As a result, we can reproduce the GRAAL data qualitatively well and observe obvious isospin asymmetry between the transition magnetic moments of N*(1675): mu_{gamma nn*} >> mu_{gamma pp*}, which indicates that the newly found nucleon resonance may be identified as a non-strange pentaquark state.

Study of exotic hadrons in s-wave chiral dynamics

We study the exotic hadrons in s-wave scattering of the Nambu-Goldstone boson with a target hadron based on chiral dynamics. Utilizing the low energy theorem of chiral symmetry, we show that the s-wave interaction is not strong enough to generate bound states in exotic channels in flavor SU(3) symmetric limit, although the interaction is responsible for generating some nonexotic hadron resonances dynamically. We discuss the renormalization condition adopted in this analysis.

Study of exotic hadrons in S-wave scatterings induced by chiral interaction in the flavor symmetric limit

We study s-wave bound states of a hadron and a light pseudoscalar meson induced by the Weinberg-Tomozawa (WT) interaction in the flavor SU(3) symmetric limit. The WT interaction is a driving force to generate quasibound states dynamically in the chiral unitary approaches. The strength and sign of the WT interaction are determined only by the group theoretical structure of the target hadrons, and we present a general expression of the strengths for the flavor SU(3) case. We show that, for the channels which are more exotic than the target, the interaction is repulsive in most cases, and the strength of the attractive interaction is universal for any possible target states. We demonstrate that the attractive coupling is not strong enough to generate an exotic state from the physically known masses of target hadrons. In addition, we also find a nontrivial Nc dependence of the coupling strengths. We show that the channels which are attractive at Nc=3 changes into repulsive ones for large Nc, and, therefore, no attractive interaction exists in exotic channels in the large-Nc limit.
