A 1000-hour EEG-EMG-audio dataset of Japanese speech production

We present a multimodal dataset of 1020 hours of simultaneously recorded scalp electroencephalography (EEG), facial electromyography (EMG), and speech audio from three healthy native Japanese speakers during open-vocabulary overt speech. Recordings were acquired with three EEG systems-an ultra-high-density system (g.Pangolin) and two cap-type systems (g.SCARABEO and eegosports), spanning 62-128 channels-across many sessions over several months. Each session provides time-synchronized EEG, facial EMG, and audio, together with speech-event annotations and transcriptions. Although collected with speech decoding as a primary motivation, the dataset also supports work on multimodal signal processing, artifact modeling, longitudinal and cross-device adaptation, and EEG representation learning. Technical validation included power spectral density and event-related potential analyses across participants, devices, and tasks, which showed the expected 1/f spectral profile, task-related alpha-band attenuation, and time-locked evoked responses. The dataset is released in Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS) format via OpenNeuro under a CC0 waiver to support both speech-related and broader EEG research.

Mott transitions in the Hubbard model with spatially-modulated interactions

We study two-component fermions in optical lattices with spatially alternating on-site interactions using dynamical mean-field theory. Calculating the quasi-particle weight, double occupancy, and order parameters for each sublattice, we discuss the low-temperature properties of the system. When both interactions are repulsive, the magnetically ordered state is realized at half-filling. In the attractive case, the superfluid state is, in general, realized with a particle number imbalance. On the other hand, when repulsive and attractive interactions are comparable in the half-filled system, the magnetically ordered and superfluid states are not realized, but the metal-insulator transition occurs. This transition is characterized by the Mott and pairing transitions discussed in the conventional repulsive and attractive Hubbard models. In the doped system, commensurability emerges owing to the repulsive interactions and the metal-insulator transition occurs down to quarter-filling.

Metal-Insulator transition in optical lattice system with site-dependent interactions

We investigate the half-filled Hubbard model with spatially alternating interactions by means of the two-site dynamical mean-field theory. It is found that a single Mott transition occurs when two kinds of interactions are increased. This implies that the different interactions are essentially irrelevant at the critical point. The nature of the Mott states is also addressed.

Z_2-vortex ordering of the triangular-lattice Heisenberg antiferromagnet

Ordering of the classical Heisenberg antiferromagnet on the triangular lattice is studied by means of a mean-field calculation, a scaling argument and a Monte Carlo simulation, with special attention to its vortex degree of freedom. The model exhibits a thermodynamic transition driven by the Z_2-vortex binding-unbinding, at which various thermodynamic quantities exhibit an essential singularity. The low-temperature state is a "spin-gel" state with a long but finite spin correlation length where the ergodicity is broken topologically. Implications to recent experiments on triangular-lattice Heisenberg antiferromagnets are discussed.

Nonadiabatic Dynamics of Ultracold Fermions in Optical Superlattices

We study the time-dependent dynamical properties of two-component ultracold fermions in a one-dimensional optical superlattice by applying the adaptive time-dependent density matrix renormalization group to a repulsive Hubbard model with an alternating superlattice potential. We clarify how the time evolution of local quantities occurs when the superlattice potential is suddenly changed to a normal one. For a Mott-type insulating state at quarter filling, the time evolution exhibits a profile similar to that expected for bosonic atoms, where correlation effects are less important. On the other hand, for a band-type insulating state at half filling, the strong repulsive interaction induces an unusual pairing of fermions, resulting in some striking properties in time evolution, such as a paired fermion co-tunneling process and the suppression of local spin moments. We further address the effect of a confining potential, which causes spatial confinement of the paired fermions.

Vortex-induced topological transition of the bilinear-biquadratic Heisenberg antiferromagnet on the triangular lattice

The ordering of the classical Heisenberg antiferromagnet on the triangular lattice with the the bilinear-biquadratic interaction is studied by Monte Carlo simulations. It is shown that the model exhibits a topological phase transition at a finite-temperature driven by topologically stable vortices, while the spin correlation length remains finite even at and below the transition point. The relevant vortices could be of three different types, depending on the value of the biquadratic coupling. Implications to recent experiments on the triangular antiferromagnet NiGa$_2$S$_4$ is discussed.
