First principle studies on the optoelectronic properties of rubidium lead halides

Entirely inorganic perovskites have attracted enormous attention of late owing to their outstanding applications in optoelectronics including highly stable perovskite solar cells. In-depth understanding of the optoelectronic and transport properties of such materials are vital for practical implementation of the same. The carrier transport properties of the electronic devices based on perovskite materials significantly depend on the effective mass of the respective charge carriers. Here, we have performed first principle calculations with FP-LAPW method for the orthorhombic rubidium lead halide structures (\ch{RbPbX_3}, where \ch{X=I,Br,Cl}) to study the optoelectronic and transport properties. The effective mass of electron (hole) is found to be minimum for \ch{RbPbBr_3} (\ch{RbPbI_3}), suggesting an efficient transport of electrons (holes) in the corresponding materials. Our calculated values such as the dielectric constants, refractive indices, absorption coefficients and reflectivities show good agreement with reported experimental data. To the best of our knowledge, ab-initio study of electronic and optical properties of \ch{RbPbBr_3} \& \ch{RbPbCl_3} in orthorhombic phase (\ch{NH_4CdCl_3} type structure) is reported for the first time.

Quasinormal modes of a charged spherical black hole with scalar hair for scalar and Dirac perturbations

The quasinormal modes of charged and uncharged massive scalar fields and also of charged Dirac fields against the background of a charged spherical black hole endowed with a scalar hair have been investigated. Special emphasis has been given to the case where negative scalar charge dominates over the electric charge of the black hole which mimics an Einstein-Rosen bridge. Except for the complete monotonic behaviour of the damping (imaginary part of the quasinormal mode) against the charge of the black hole as opposed to the existence of a peak for the pure RN case, the qualitative behaviour does not appreciably change due to the presence of scalar hair.

Density functional theory calculation of ground state energy, dipole polarizability and hyperpolarizability of a confined helium atom

We calculate ground-state energies and densities of a helium atom confined in an impenetrable spherical box within density functional theory. These calculations are performed by variationally solving Kohn-Sham equation with the ground-state orbital expanded in terms of Slater-type orbitals. Using the ground-state densities we then calculate static linear polarizability and nonlinear hyperpolarizability and study their variation with the radius of confinement. We find that polarizability decreases monotonically with decreasing confinement radius and the hyperpolarizability not only decreases but also undergoes a change in sign in the strong confinement regime.

Calculation of ground- and excited-state energies of confined helium atom

We calculate the energies of ground and three low lying excited states of confined helium atom centered in an impenetrable spherical box. We perform the calculation by employing variational method with two-parameter variational forms for the correlated two-particle wave function. With just two variational parameters we get quite accurate results for both ground and excited state energies.
