CoVeR: Coverage-Based Token Pruning for Multi-View 3D Reasoning in VLMs

Representing a 3D scene as multi-view images allows 2D VLMs to reason in 3D by reusing priors from pre-training, sidestepping the scarcity of annotated 3D data. However, it produces thousands of redundant visual tokens whose cost grows with every view. Existing visual token pruners fall into two families, each limited in the 3D multi-view setting. Learned importance methods rank tokens by attention or encoder features; because redundancy here is fundamentally spatial, they keep near-duplicate tokens from a few prominent regions and leave most of the scene unrepresented. Voxelization methods improve spatial coverage but cannot enforce an exact token budget and saturate as multi-view observations overlap in 3D, capping retention well below the target. We show that spatial coverage is associated with 3D reasoning performance and introduce CoVeR, a deterministic, training-free selector that uses only token coordinates, with no learned signals. CoVeR selects tokens that collectively cover every region of the scene, and solves the limitations of both families: it enforces an exact per-scene budget, breaks the voxelization saturation plateau, and avoids the near-duplicate selections of learned importance. Extensive experiments show CoVeR outperforms prior SOTAs on all three 3D reasoning benchmarks and generalizes as a plug-and-play module tested across four VLMs. Notably, with only $\approx$8% of visual tokens, it preserves 93.5% of full-token performance, surpassing SOTA by 3.9 percentage points on average across benchmarks.

Multi-view Consistent 3D Gaussian Head Avatars 'without' Multi-view Generation

High-fidelity 3D Gaussian head avatar generation is critical for applications such as AR/VR, telepresence, and digital humans. Existing methods depend on multi-view datasets, 3D captures, or intermediate 2D view synthesis. In contrast, we learn both conditional and unconditional 3D head models from randomly sampled 2D images alone, without using multi-view data, 3D supervision, or intermediate view generation. We introduce MVCHead, a single-shot state space model that enforces multi-view consistency (MVC) directly in the 3D representation while regressing 3D Gaussians under these constraints. At its core, we propose a Hierarchical State Space (HiSS) block that progressively refines Gaussians from coarse to fine, while capturing long-range dependencies. Within each HiSS block, we modify Mamba's standard unidirectional scan with the proposed Hierarchical Bi-directional State Scan (HiBiSS) that aligns recurrence with the axes along which multi-view inconsistencies are strongest. Finally, we design an SE(3) Multi-view Critic that judges whether a set of self-renders arises from a single underlying 3D configuration, rewarding cross-view pixel alignment without observing real multi-view pairs. MVCHead achieves state-of-the-art perceptual quality, surpasses prior methods in both texture and geometric consistency, and maintains comparable shape consistency. To demonstrate scalability, we release FaceGS-10K, the first large-scale dataset of ready-to-use 3D Gaussian head assets for training and evaluation of 3D head models. MV-SSM: Multi-View State Space Modeling for 3D Human Pose Estimation

While significant progress has been made in single-view 3D human pose estimation, multi-view 3D human pose estimation remains challenging, particularly in terms of generalizing to new camera configurations. Existing attention-based transformers often struggle to accurately model the spatial arrangement of keypoints, especially in occluded scenarios. Additionally, they tend to overfit specific camera arrangements and visual scenes from training data, resulting in substantial performance drops in new settings. In this study, we introduce a novel Multi-View State Space Modeling framework, named MV-SSM, for robustly estimating 3D human keypoints. We explicitly model the joint spatial sequence at two distinct levels: the feature level from multi-view images and the person keypoint level. We propose a Projective State Space (PSS) block to learn a generalized representation of joint spatial arrangements using state space modeling. Moreover, we modify Mamba's traditional scanning into an effective Grid Token-guided Bidirectional Scanning (GTBS), which is integral to the PSS block. Multiple experiments demonstrate that MV-SSM achieves strong generalization, outperforming state-of-the-art methods: +10.8 on AP25 (+24%) on the challenging three-camera setting in CMU Panoptic, +7.0 on AP25 (+13%) on varying camera arrangements, and +15.3 PCP (+38%) on Campus A1 in cross-dataset evaluations. PyNoetic: A modular python framework for no-code development of EEG brain-computer interfaces

Electroencephalography (EEG)-based Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) have emerged as a transformative technology with applications spanning robotics, virtual reality, medicine, and rehabilitation. However, existing BCI frameworks face several limitations, including a lack of stage-wise flexibility essential for experimental research, steep learning curves for researchers without programming expertise, elevated costs due to reliance on proprietary software, and a lack of all-inclusive features leading to the use of multiple external tools affecting research outcomes. To address these challenges, we present PyNoetic, a modular BCI framework designed to cater to the diverse needs of BCI research. PyNoetic is one of the very few frameworks in Python that encompasses the entire BCI design pipeline, from stimulus presentation and data acquisition to channel selection, filtering, feature extraction, artifact removal, and finally simulation and visualization. Notably, PyNoetic introduces an intuitive and end-to-end GUI coupled with a unique pick-and-place configurable flowchart for no-code BCI design, making it accessible to researchers with minimal programming experience. For advanced users, it facilitates the seamless integration of custom functionalities and novel algorithms with minimal coding, ensuring adaptability at each design stage. PyNoetic also includes a rich array of analytical tools such as machine learning models, brain-connectivity indices, systematic testing functionalities via simulation, and evaluation methods of novel paradigms. PyNoetic's strengths lie in its versatility for both offline and real-time BCI development, which streamlines the design process, allowing researchers to focus on more intricate aspects of BCI development and thus accelerate their research endeavors. Safe-Construct: Redefining Construction Safety Violation Recognition as 3D Multi-View Engagement Task

Recognizing safety violations in construction environments is critical yet remains underexplored in computer vision. Existing models predominantly rely on 2D object detection, which fails to capture the complexities of real-world violations due to: (i) an oversimplified task formulation treating violation recognition merely as object detection, (ii) inadequate validation under realistic conditions, (iii) absence of standardized baselines, and (iv) limited scalability from the unavailability of synthetic dataset generators for diverse construction scenarios. To address these challenges, we introduce Safe-Construct, the first framework that reformulates violation recognition as a 3D multi-view engagement task, leveraging scene-level worker-object context and 3D spatial understanding. We also propose the Synthetic Indoor Construction Site Generator (SICSG) to create diverse, scalable training data, overcoming data limitations. Safe-Construct achieves a 7.6% improvement over state-of-the-art methods across four violation types. We rigorously evaluate our approach in near-realistic settings, incorporating four violations, four workers, 14 objects, and challenging conditions like occlusions (worker-object, worker-worker) and variable illumination (back-lighting, overexposure, sunlight). By integrating 3D multi-view spatial understanding and synthetic data generation, Safe-Construct sets a new benchmark for scalable and robust safety monitoring in high-risk industries. Hamba: Single-view 3D Hand Reconstruction with Graph-guided Bi-Scanning Mamba

3D Hand reconstruction from a single RGB image is challenging due to the articulated motion, self-occlusion, and interaction with objects. Existing SOTA methods employ attention-based transformers to learn the 3D hand pose and shape, yet they do not fully achieve robust and accurate performance, primarily due to inefficiently modeling spatial relations between joints. To address this problem, we propose a novel graph-guided Mamba framework, named Hamba, which bridges graph learning and state space modeling. Our core idea is to reformulate Mamba's scanning into graph-guided bidirectional scanning for 3D reconstruction using a few effective tokens. This enables us to efficiently learn the spatial relationships between joints for improving reconstruction performance. Specifically, we design a Graph-guided State Space (GSS) block that learns the graph-structured relations and spatial sequences of joints and uses 88.5% fewer tokens than attention-based methods. Additionally, we integrate the state space features and the global features using a fusion module. By utilizing the GSS block and the fusion module, Hamba effectively leverages the graph-guided state space features and jointly considers global and local features to improve performance. Experiments on several benchmarks and in-the-wild tests demonstrate that Hamba significantly outperforms existing SOTAs, achieving the PA-MPVPE of 5.3mm and F@15mm of 0.992 on FreiHAND. At the time of this paper's acceptance, Hamba holds the top position, Rank 1 in two Competition Leaderboards on 3D hand reconstruction. Project Website: https://humansensinglab.github.io/Hamba/

Human-VDM: Learning Single-Image 3D Human Gaussian Splatting from Video Diffusion Models

Generating lifelike 3D humans from a single RGB image remains a challenging task in computer vision, as it requires accurate modeling of geometry, high-quality texture, and plausible unseen parts. Existing methods typically use multi-view diffusion models for 3D generation, but they often face inconsistent view issues, which hinder high-quality 3D human generation. To address this, we propose Human-VDM, a novel method for generating 3D human from a single RGB image using Video Diffusion Models. Human-VDM provides temporally consistent views for 3D human generation using Gaussian Splatting. It consists of three modules: a view-consistent human video diffusion module, a video augmentation module, and a Gaussian Splatting module. First, a single image is fed into a human video diffusion module to generate a coherent human video. Next, the video augmentation module applies super-resolution and video interpolation to enhance the textures and geometric smoothness of the generated video. Finally, the 3D Human Gaussian Splatting module learns lifelike humans under the guidance of these high-resolution and view-consistent images. Experiments demonstrate that Human-VDM achieves high-quality 3D human from a single image, outperforming state-of-the-art methods in both generation quality and quantity. Challenges of Equitable Vaccine Distribution in the COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a need for widespread and rapid vaccine development. As several vaccines have recently been approved for human use or are in different stages of development, governments across the world are preparing comprehensive guidelines for vaccine distribution and monitoring. In this early article, we identify challenges in logistics, health outcomes, user-centric matters, and communication associated with disease-related, individual, societal, economic, and privacy consequences. Primary challenges include difficulty in equitable distribution, vaccine efficacy, duration of immunity, multi-dose adherence, and privacy-focused record-keeping to be HIPAA compliant. While many of these challenges have been previously identified and addressed, some have not been acknowledged from a comprehensive view accounting for unprecedented interactions between challenges and specific populations. The logistics of equitable widespread vaccine distribution in disparate populations and countries of various economic, racial, and cultural constitutions must be thoroughly examined and accounted for. We also describe unique challenges regarding the efficacy of vaccines in specialized populations including children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals. Furthermore, we report the potential for understudied drug-vaccine interactions as well as the possibility that certain vaccine platforms may increase susceptibility to HIV. Given these complicated issues, the importance of privacy-focused, user-centric systems for vaccine education and incentivization along with clear communication from governments, organizations, and academic institutions is imperative. These challenges are by no means insurmountable, but require careful attention to avoid consequences spanning a range of disease-related, individual, societal, economic, and security domains.

Recent Trends in Artificial Intelligence-inspired Electronic Thermal Management

The rise of computation-based methods in thermal management has gained immense attention in recent years due to the ability of deep learning to solve complex 'physics' problems, which are otherwise difficult to be approached using conventional techniques. Thermal management is required in electronic systems to keep them from overheating and burning, enhancing their efficiency and lifespan. For a long time, numerical techniques have been employed to aid in the thermal management of electronics. However, they come with some limitations. To increase the effectiveness of traditional numerical approaches and address the drawbacks faced in conventional approaches, researchers have looked at using artificial intelligence at various stages of the thermal management process. The present study discusses in detail, the current uses of deep learning in the domain of 'electronic' thermal management.

From Convolutions towards Spikes: The Environmental Metric that the Community currently Misses

Today, the AI community is obsessed with 'state-of-the-art' scores (80% papers in NeurIPS) as the major performance metrics, due to which an important parameter, i.e., the environmental metric, remains unreported. Computational capabilities were a limiting factor a decade ago; however, in foreseeable future circumstances, the challenge will be to develop environment-friendly and power-efficient algorithms. The human brain, which has been optimizing itself for almost a million years, consumes the same amount of power as a typical laptop. Therefore, developing nature-inspired algorithms is one solution to it. In this study, we show that currently used ANNs are not what we find in nature, and why, although having lower performance, spiking neural networks, which mirror the mammalian visual cortex, have attracted much interest. We further highlight the hardware gaps restricting the researchers from using spike-based computation for developing neuromorphic energy-efficient microchips on a large scale. Using neuromorphic processors instead of traditional GPUs might be more environment friendly and efficient. These processors will turn SNNs into an ideal solution for the problem. This paper presents in-depth attention highlighting the current gaps, the lack of comparative research, while proposing new research directions at the intersection of two fields -- neuroscience and deep learning. Further, we define a new evaluation metric 'NATURE' for reporting the carbon footprint of AI models.
