Superunitary Representations of Heisenberg Supergroups

Numerous Lie supergroups do not admit superunitary representations except the trivial one, e.g., Heisenberg and orthosymplectic supergroups in mixed signature. To avoid this situation, we introduce in this paper a broader definition of superunitary representation, relying on a new definition of Hilbert superspace. The latter is inspired by the notion of Krein space and was developed initially for noncommutative supergeometry. For Heisenberg supergroups, this new approach yields a smooth generalization, whatever the signature, of the unitary representation theory of the classical Heisenberg group. First, we obtain Schrodinger-like representations by quantizing generic coadjoint orbits. They satisfy the new definition of irreducible superunitary representations and serve as ground to the main result of this paper: a generalized Stone-von Neumann theorem. Then, we obtain the superunitary dual and build a group Fourier transformation, satisfying Parseval theorem. We eventually show that metaplectic representations, which extend Schrodinger-like representations to metaplectic supergroups, also fit into this definition of superunitary representations.

Non-formal star-exponential on contracted one-sheeted hyperboloids

In this paper, we exhibit the non-formal star-exponential of the Lie group SL(2,R) realized geometrically on the curvature contraction of its one-sheeted hyperboloid orbits endowed with its natural non-formal star-product. It is done by a direct resolution of the defining equation of the star-exponential and produces an expression with Bessel functions. This yields a continuous group homomorphism from SL(2,R) into the von Neumann algebra of multipliers of the Hilbert algebra underlied by this natural star-product. As an application, we prove a new identity on Bessel functions.

Noncommutative Supergeometry and Quantum Supergroups

This is a review of concepts of noncommutative supergeometry - namely Hilbert superspace, C*-superalgebra, quantum supergroup - and corresponding results. In particular, we present applications of noncommutative supergeometry in harmonic analysis of Lie supergroups, non-formal deformation quantization of supermanifolds, quantum field theory on noncommutative spaces; and we give explicit examples such as deformation of flat superspaces, noncommutative supertori, solvable topological quantum supergroups.

Fréchet Quantum Supergroups

In this paper, we introduce Fréchet quantum supergroups and their representations. By using the universal deformation formula of the abelian supergroups R^{m|n} we construct various classes of Fréchet quantum supergroups that are deformation of classical ones. For such quantum supergroups, we find an analog of Kac-Takesaki operators that are superunitary and satisfy the pentagonal relation.

Multipliers of Hilbert algebras and deformation quantization

In this paper, we introduce the notion of multiplier of a Hilbert algebra. The space of bounded multipliers is a semifinite von Neumann algebra isomorphic to the left von Neumann algebra of the Hilbert algebra, as expected. However, in the unbounded setting, the space of multipliers has the structure of a *-algebra with nice properties concerning commutant and affiliation: it is a pre-GW*-algebra. And this correspondence between Hilbert algebras and its multipliers is functorial. Then, we can endow the Hilbert algebra with a nice topology constructed from unbounded multipliers. As we can see from the theory developed here, multipliers should be an important tool for the study of unbounded operator algebras. We also formalize the remark that examples of non-formal deformation quantizations give rise to Hilbert algebras, by defining the concept of Hilbert deformation quantization (HDQ) and studying these deformations as well as their bounded and unbounded multipliers in a general way. Then, we reformulate the notion of covariance of a star-product in this framework of HDQ and multipliers, and we call it a symmetry of the HDQ. By using the multiplier topology of a symmetry, we are able to produce various functional spaces attached to the deformation quantization, like the generalization of Schwartz space, Sobolev spaces, Gracia-Bondia-Varilly spaces. Moreover, the non-formal star-exponential of the symmetry can be defined in full generality and has nice relations with these functional spaces. We apply this formalism to the Moyal-Weyl deformation quantization and to the deformation quantization of Kahlerian Lie groups with negative curvature.

Resurgent Deformation Quantisation

We construct a version of the complex Heisenberg algebra based on the idea of endless analytic continuation. In particular, we exhibit an integral formula for the product of resurgent operators with algebraic singularities. This algebra would be large enough to capture quantum effects that escape ordinary formal deformation quantisation.

Renormalization of the commutative scalar theory with harmonic term to all orders

The noncommutative scalar theory with harmonic term (on the Moyal space) has a vanishing beta function. In this paper, we prove the renormalizability of the commutative scalar field theory with harmonic term to all orders by using multiscale analysis in the momentum space. Then, we consider and compute its one-loop beta function, as well as the one on the degenerate Moyal space. We can finally compare both to the vanishing beta function of the theory with harmonic term on the Moyal space.

Deformation Quantization for Heisenberg Supergroup

We construct a non-formal deformation machinery for the actions of the Heisenberg supergroup analogue to the one developed by M. Rieffel for the actions of R^d. However, the method used here differs from Rieffel's one: we obtain a Universal Deformation Formula for the actions of R^{m|n} as a byproduct of Weyl ordered Kirillov's orbit method adapted to the graded setting. To do so, we have to introduce the notion of C*-superalgebra, which is compatible with the deformation, and which can be seen as corresponding to noncommutative superspaces. We also use this construction to interpret the renormalizability of a noncommutative Quantum Field Theory.

Non-formal deformation quantization of abelian supergroups

We review recent works concerning deformation quantization of abelian supergroups. Indeed, we expose the construction of an induced representation of the Heisenberg supergroup and an associated pseudodifferential calculus by using Kirillov's orbits method. Then, a star-product is built on the abelian supergroup R^{m|n} together with a universal deformation formula for its actions. Using topological Hopf algebras, we reformulate this deformation as a continuous twist on comodule-algebras. We also introduce the notion of C*-superalgebra which is natural and compatible with the deformation. Finally, we show some applications in supergeometry and theoretical physics.

Noncommutative field theories with harmonic term

The UV-IR mixing of scalar field theory on the Moyal space is removed by the harmonic term, so that the theory is renormalizable. We will present different properties of this scalar model and its associated gauge theory, which is candidate to renormalizability. The supergeometric interpretation of the harmonic term, for both scalar and gauge models, and related to the Langmann-Szabo duality, will be exposed.

Symmetries of noncommutative scalar field theory

We investigate symmetries of the scalar field theory with harmonic term on the Moyal space with euclidean scalar product and general symplectic form. The classical action is invariant under the orthogonal group if this group acts also on the symplectic structure. We find that the invariance under the orthogonal group can be restored also at the quantum level by restricting the symplectic structures to a particular orbit.

Noncommutative epsilon-graded connections

We introduce the new notion of epsilon-graded associative algebras which takes its root into the notion of commutation factors introduced in the context of Lie algebras. We define and study the associated notion of epsilon-derivation-based differential calculus, which generalizes the derivation-based differential calculus on associative algebras. A corresponding notion of noncommutative connection is also defined. We illustrate these considerations with various examples of epsilon-graded algebras, in particular some graded matrix algebras and the Moyal algebra. This last example permits also to interpret mathematically a noncommutative gauge field theory.

Noncommutative geometry, gauge theory and renormalization

Nowadays, noncommutative geometry is a growing domain of mathematics, which can appear as a promising framework for modern physics. Quantum field theories on "noncommutative spaces" are indeed much investigated, and suffer from a new type of divergence called the ultraviolet-infrared mixing. However, this problem has recently been solved by H. Grosse and R. Wulkenhaar by adding to the action of a noncommutative scalar model a harmonic term, which renders it renormalizable. One aim of this thesis is the extension of this procedure to gauge theories on the Moyal space. Indeed, we have introduced a new noncommutative gauge theory, strongly related to the Grosse-Wulkenhaar model, and candidate to renormalizability. We have then studied the most important properties of this action, and in particular its vacuum configurations. Finally, we give a mathematical interpretation of this new action in terms of a derivation-based differential calculus associated to a superalgebra. This work contains among the results of this PhD, an introduction to noncommutative geometry, an introduction to epsilon-graded algebras, and an introduction to renormalization of scalar (wilsonian and BPHZ point of view) and gauge quantum field theories.

On the Origin of the Harmonic Term in Noncommutative Quantum Field Theory

The harmonic term in the scalar field theory on the Moyal space removes the UV-IR mixing, so that the theory is renormalizable to all orders. In this paper, we review the three principal interpretations of this harmonic term: the Langmann-Szabo duality, the superalgebraic approach and the noncommutative scalar curvature interpretation. Then, we show some deep relationship between these interpretations.

On the vacuum states for noncommutative gauge theory

Candidates for renormalisable gauge theory models on Moyal spaces constructed recently have non trivial vacua. We show that these models support vacuum states that are invariant under both global rotations and symplectic isomorphisms which form a global symmetry group for the action. We compute the explicit expression in the position space for these vacuum configurations in two and four dimensions.

On the Effective Action of Noncommutative Yang-Mills Theory

We compute here the Yang-Mills effective action on Moyal space by integrating over the scalar fields in a noncommutative scalar field theory with harmonic term, minimally coupled to an external gauge potential. We also explain the special regularisation scheme chosen here and give some links to the Schwinger parametric representation. Finally, we discuss the results obtained: a noncommutative possibly renormalisable Yang-Mills theory.
