Integrable coupled massive Thirring model with field values in a Grassmann algebra

A coupled massive Thirring model of two interacting Dirac spinors in $1+1$ dimensions with fields taking values in a Grassmann algebra is introduced, which is closely related to a SU(1,1) version of the Grassmannian Thirring model also introduced in this work. The Lax pair for the system is constructed, and its equations of motion are obtained from a zero curvature condition. It is shown that the system possesses several infinite hierarchies of conserved quantities, which strongly confirms its integrability. The model admits a canonical formulation and is invariant under space-time translations, Lorentz boosts and global U(1) gauge transformations, as well as discrete symmetries like parity and time reversal. The conserved quantities associated to the continuous symmetries are derived using Noether's theorem, and their relation to the lower-order integrals of motion is spelled out. New nonlocal integrable models are constructed through consistent nonlocal reductions between the field components of the general model. The Lagrangian, the Hamiltonian, the Lax pair and several infinite hierarchies of conserved quantities for each of these nonlocal models are obtained substituting its reduction in the expressions of the analogous quantities for the general model. It is shown that, although the Lorentz symmetry of the general model breaks down for its nonlocal reductions, these reductions remain invariant under parity, time reversal, global U(1) gauge transformations and space-time translations.

Integrable coupled bosonic massive Thirring model and its nonlocal reductions

A coupled bosonic massive Thirring model (BMTM), involving an interaction between the two independent spinors, is introduced and shown to be integrable. By incorporating suitable reductions between the field components of the coupled BMTM, five novel integrable models with various type of nonlocal interactions are constructed. Lax pairs satisfying the zero curvature condition are obtained for the coupled BMTM and for each of the related nonlocal models. An infinite number of conserved quantities are derived for each of these models which confirms the integrability of the systems. It is shown that the coupled BMTM respects important symmetries of the original BMTM such as parity, time reversal, global $U(1)$-gauge and the proper Lorentz transformations. Similarly, all the nonlocal models obtained from the coupled BMTM remain invariant under combined operation of parity and time reversal transformations. However, it is found that only one of the nonlocal models is invariant under proper Lorentz transformation and two other models are invariant under global $U(1)$-gauge transformation. By using ultralocal Poisson bracket relations among the elements of the Lax operator, it is shown that the coupled BMTM and one of the nonlocal models are completely integrable in the Liouville sense.

A novel class of translationally invariant spin chains with long-range interactions

We introduce a new class of open, translationally invariant spin chains with long-range interactions depending on both spin permutation and (polarized) spin reversal operators, which includes the Haldane-Shastry chain as a particular degenerate case. The new class is characterized by the fact that the Hamiltonian is invariant under "twisted" translations, combining an ordinary translation with a spin flip at one end of the chain. It includes a remarkable model with elliptic spin-spin interactions, smoothly interpolating between the XXX Heisenberg model with anti-periodic boundary conditions and a new open chain with sites uniformly spaced on a half-circle and interactions inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the spins. We are able to compute in closed form the partition function of the latter chain, thereby obtaining a complete description of its spectrum in terms of a pair of independent su(1|1) and ${\rm su}(m/2)$ motifs when the number $m$ of internal degrees of freedom is even. This implies that the even $m$ model is invariant under the direct sum of the Yangians $Y$(gl(1|1)) and $Y$(gl$(0|m/2)$). We also analyze several statistical properties of the new chain's spectrum. In particular, we show that it is highly degenerate, which strongly suggests the existence of an underlying (twisted) Yangian symmetry also for odd $m$.

Supersymmetric $t$-$J$ models with long-range interactions: thermodynamics and criticality

We analyze the thermodynamics and the critical behavior of the supersymmetric su($m$) $t$-$J$ model with long-range interactions. Using the transfer matrix formalism, we obtain a closed-form expression for the free energy per site both for a finite number of sites and in the thermodynamic limit. Our approach, which is different from the usual ones based on the asymptotic Bethe ansatz and generalized exclusion statistics, can in fact be applied to a large class of models whose spectrum is described in terms of supersymmetric Young tableaux and their associated Haldane motifs. In the simplest and most interesting su(2) case, we identify the five ground state phases of the model and derive the complete low-temperature asymptotic series of the free energy per site, the magnetization and charge densities, and their susceptibilities. We verify the model's characteristic spin-charge separation at low temperatures, and show that it holds to all orders in the asymptotic expansion. Using the low-temperature asymptotic expansions of the free energy, we also analyze the critical behavior of the model in each of its ground state phases. While the standard su(1|2) phase is described by two independent CFTs with central charge $c=1$ in correspondence with the spin and charge sectors, we find that the low-energy behavior of the su(2) and su(1|1) phases is that of a single $c=1$ CFT. We show that the model exhibits an even richer behavior on the boundary between zero-temperature phases, where it can be non-critical but gapless, critical in the spin sector but not in the charge one, or critical with central charge $c=3/2$.

Supersymmetric $t$-$J$ models with long-range interactions: partition function and spectrum

We study the spectrum of the long-range supersymmetric su$(m)$ $t$-$J$ model of Kuramoto and Yokoyama in the presence of an external magnetic field and a charge chemical potential. To this end, we first establish the precise equivalence of a large class of models of this type to a family of su$(1|m)$ spin chains with long-range exchange interactions and a suitable chemical potential term. We exploit this equivalence to compute in closed form the partition function of the long-range $t$-$J$ model, which we then relate to that of an inhomogeneous vertex model with simple interactions. From the structure of this partition function we are able to deduce an exact formula for the restricted partition function of the long-range $t$-$J$ model in subspaces with well-defined magnon content in terms of its analogue for the equivalent vertex model. This yields a complete analytical description of the spectrum in the latter subspaces, including the precise degeneracy of each level, by means of the supersymmetric version of Haldane's motifs and their related skew Young tableaux. As an application, we determine the structure of the motifs associated with the ground state of the spin $1/2$ model in the thermodynamic limit in terms of the magnetic field strength and the charge chemical potential. This leads to a complete characterization of the distinct ground state phases, determined by their spin content, in terms of the magnetic field strength and the charge chemical potential.

Super Rogers-Szegö polynomials associated with $BC_N$ type of Polychronakos spin chains

As is well known, multivariate Rogers-Szegö polynomials are closely connected with the partition functions of the $A_{N-1}$ type of Polychronakos spin chains having long-range interactions. Applying the `freezing trick', here we derive the partition functions for a class of $BC_N$ type of Polychronakos spin chains containing supersymmetric analogues of polarized spin reversal operators and subsequently use those partition functions to obtain novel multivariate super Rogers-Szegö (SRS) polynomials depending on four types of variables. We construct the generating functions for such SRS polynomials and show that these polynomials can be written as some bilinear combinations of the $A_{N-1}$ type of SRS polynomials. We also use the above mentioned generating functions to derive a set of recursion relations for the partition functions of the $BC_N$ type of Polychronakos spin chains involving different numbers of lattice sites and internal degrees of freedom.

Quasi exactly solvable extension of Calogero model associated with exceptional orthogonal polynomials

By using the technique of supersymmetric quantum mechanics, we study a quasi exactly solvable extension of the N-particle rational Calogero model with harmonic confining interaction. Such quasi exactly solvable many particle system, whose effective potential in the radial direction yields a supersymmetric partner of the radial harmonic oscillator, is constructed by including new long-range interactions to the rational Calogero model. An infinite number of bound state energy levels are obtained for this system under certain conditions. We also calculate the corresponding bound state wave functions in terms of the recently discovered exceptional orthogonal Laguerre polynomials.

Supersymmetric analogue of BC_N type rational integrable models with polarized spin reversal operators

We derive the exact spectra as well as partition functions for a class of $BC_N$ type of spin Calogero models, whose Hamiltonians are constructed by using supersymmetric analogues of polarized spin reversal operators (SAPSRO). The strong coupling limit of these spin Calogero models yields $BC_N$ type of Polychronakos-Frahm (PF) spin chains with SAPSRO. By applying the freezing trick, we obtain an exact expression for the partition functions of such PF spin chains. We also derive a formula which expresses the partition function of any $BC_N$ type of PF spin chain with SAPSRO in terms of partition functions of several $A_K$ type of supersymmetric PF spin chains, where $K\leq N-1$. Subsequently we show that an extended boson-fermion duality relation is obeyed by the partition functions of the $BC_N$ type of PF chains with SAPSRO. Some spectral properties of these spin chains, like level density distribution and nearest neighbour spacing distribution, are also studied.

Rational quantum integrable systems of D_N type with polarized spin reversal operators

We study the spin Calogero model of D_N type with polarized spin reversal operators, as well as its associated spin chain of Haldane-Shastry type, both in the antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic cases. We compute the spectrum and the partition function of the former model in closed form, from which we derive an exact formula for the chain's partition function in terms of products of partition functions of Polychronakos-Frahm spin chains of type A. Using a recursion relation for the latter partition functions that we derive in the paper, we are able to numerically evaluate the partition function, and thus the spectrum, of the D_N-type spin chain for relatively high values of the number of spins N. We analyze several global properties of the chain's spectrum, such as the asymptotic level density, the distribution of consecutive spacings of the unfolded spectrum, and the average degeneracy. In particular, our results suggest that this chain is invariant under a suitable Yangian group, and that its spectrum coincides with that of a Yangian-invariant vertex model with linear energy function and dispersion relation.

Clusters of bound particles in a quantum integrable many-body system and number theory

We construct clusters of bound particles for a quantum integrable derivative delta-function Bose gas in one dimension. It is found that clusters of bound particles can be constructed for this Bose gas for some special values of the coupling constant, by taking the quasi-momenta associated with the corresponding Bethe state to be equidistant points on a single circle in the complex momentum plane. Interestingly, there exists a connection between the above mentioned special values of the coupling constant and some fractions belonging to the Farey sequences in number theory. This connection leads to a classification of the clusters of bound particles for the derivative delta-function Bose gas and the determination of various properties of these clusters like their size and their stability under a variation of the coupling constant.

Partition functions of Polychronakos like spin chains associated with polarized spin reversal operators

We construct polarized spin reversal operator (PSRO) which yields a class of representations for the $BC_N$ type of Weyl algebra, and subsequently use this PSRO to find out novel exactly solvable variants of the $BC_N$ type of spin Calogero model. The strong coupling limit of such spin Calogero models generates the $BC_N$ type of Polychronakos spin chains with PSRO. We derive the exact spectra of the $BC_N$ type of spin Calogero models with PSRO and compute the partition functions of the related spin chains by using the freezing trick. We also find out an interesting relation between the partition functions of the $BC_N$ type and $A_{N-1}$ type of Polychronakos spin chains. Finally, we study spectral properties like level density and distribution of spacing between consecutive energy levels for $BC_N$ type of Polychronakos spin chains with PSRO.

Clusters of bound particles in the derivative delta-function Bose gas

In this paper we discuss a novel procedure for constructing clusters of bound particles in the case of a quantum integrable derivative delta-function Bose gas in one dimension. It is shown that clusters of bound particles can be constructed for this Bose gas for some special values of the coupling constant, by taking the quasi-momenta associated with the corresponding Bethe state to be equidistant points on a single circle in the complex momentum plane. We also establish a connection between these special values of the coupling constant and some fractions belonging to the Farey sequences in number theory. This connection leads to a classification of the clusters of bound particles associated with the derivative delta-function Bose gas and allows us to study various properties of these clusters like their size and their stability under the variation of the coupling constant.

The exactly solvable spin Sutherland model of B_N type and its related spin chain

We compute the spectrum of the su(m) spin Sutherland model of B_N type, including the exact degeneracy of all energy levels. By studying the large coupling constant limit of this model and of its scalar counterpart, we evaluate the partition function of their associated spin chain of Haldane-Shastry type in closed form. With the help of the formula for the partition function thus obtained we study the chain's spectrum, showing that it cannot be obtained as a limiting case of its BC_N counterpart. The structure of the partition function also suggests that the spectrum of the Haldane-Shastry spin chain of B_N type is equivalent to that of a suitable vertex model, as is the case for its A_{N-1} counterpart, and that the density of its eigenvalues is normally distributed when the number of sites N tends to infinity. We analyze this last conjecture numerically using again the explicit formula for the partition function, and check its validity for several values of N and m.

Level density distribution for one-dimensional vertex models related to Haldane-Shastry like spin chains

The energy level density distributions of some Haldane-Shastry like spin chains associated with the $A_{N-1}$ root system have been computed recently by Enciso et al., exploiting the connection of these spin systems with inhomogeneous one-dimensional vertex models whose energy functions depend on the vertices through specific polynomials of first or second degree. Here we consider a much broader class of one-dimensional vertex models whose energy functions depend on the vertices through arbitrary polynomials of any possible degree. We estimate the order of mean and variance for such energy functions and show that the level density distribution of all vertex models belonging to this class asymptotically follow the Gaussian pattern for large number of vertices. We also present some numerical evidence in support of this analytical result.

Exact solution of $D_N$ type quantum Calogero model through a mapping to free harmonic oscillators

We solve the eigenvalue problem of the $D_N$ type of Calogero model by mapping it to a set of decoupled quantum harmonic oscillators through a similarity transformation. In particular, we construct the eigenfunctions of this Calogero model from those of bosonic harmonic oscillators having either all even parity or all odd parity. It turns out that the eigenfunctions of this model are orthogonal with respect to a nontrivial inner product, which can be derived from the quasi-Hermiticity property of the corresponding conserved quantities.

The spin Sutherland model of D_N type and its associated spin chain

In this paper we study the su(m) spin Sutherland (trigonometric) model of D_N type and its related spin chain of Haldane-Shastry type obtained by means of Polychronakos's freezing trick. As in the rational case recently studied by the authors, we show that these are new models, whose properties cannot be simply deduced from those of their well-known BC_N counterparts by taking a suitable limit. We identify the Weyl-invariant extended configuration space of the spin dynamical model, which turns out to be the N-dimensional generalization of a rhombic dodecahedron. This is in fact one of the reasons underlying the greater complexity of the models studied in this paper in comparison with both their rational and BC_N counterparts. By constructing a non-orthogonal basis of the Hilbert space of the spin dynamical model on which its Hamiltonian acts triangularly, we compute its spectrum in closed form. Using this result and applying the freezing trick, we derive an exact expression for the partition function of the associated Haldane-Shastry spin chain of D_N type.

Fermionic dual of one-dimensional bosonic particles with derivative delta function potential

We investigate the boson-fermion duality relation for the case of quantum integrable derivative $δ$-function bose gas. In particular, we find out a dual fermionic system with nonvanishing zero-range interaction for the simplest case of two bosonic particles with derivative $δ$-function interaction. The coupling constant of this dual fermionic system becomes inversely proportional to the product of the coupling constant of its bosonic counterpart and the centre-of-mass momentum of the corresponding eigenfunction.

Spectral properties of supersymmetric Polychronakos spin chain associated with A_{N-1} root system

By using the exact partition function of su(m|n) Polychronakos spin chain associated with A_{N-1} root system, we study some statistical properties of the related spectrum. It is found that the corresponding energy level density satisfies the Gaussian distribution and the cumulative distribution of spacing between consecutive energy levels obeys a certain `square root of a logarithm' law.
