On the Harmonic Oscillation of High-order Linear Time Invariant Systems

Linear time invariant (LTI) systems are widely used for modeling system dynamics in science and engineering problems. Harmonic oscillation of LTI systems are widely used for modeling and analyses of periodic physical phenomenon. This study investigates sufficient conditions to obtain harmonic oscillation for high-order LTI systems. The paper presents a design procedure for controlling harmonic oscillation of singleinput single-output high-order LTI systems. LTI system coefficients are calculated by the solution of linear equation set, which imposes a stable sinusoidal oscillation solution for the characteristic polynomials of LTI systems. An example design is demonstrated for fourth-order LTI systems and the control of harmonic oscillations are discussed by illustrating Hilbert transform and spectrogram of oscillation signals.

Effects of Sequence Partitioning on Compression Rate

In the paper, a theoretical work is done for investigating effects of splitting data sequence into packs of data set. We proved that a partitioning of data sequence is possible to find such that the entropy rate at each subsequence is lower than entropy rate of the source. Effects of sequence partitioning on overall compression rate are argued on the bases of partitioning statistics, and then, an optimization problem for an optimal partition is defined to improve overall compression rate of a sequence.

Seismic Crystals And Earthquake Shield Application

We theoretically demonstrate that earthquake shield made of seismic crystal can damp down surface waves, which are the most destructive type for constructions. In the paper, seismic crystal is introduced in aspect of band gaps (Stop band) and some design concepts for earthquake and tsunami shielding were discussed in theoretical manner. We observed in our FDTD based 2D elastic wave simulations that proposed earthquake shield could provide about 0.5 reductions in magnitude of surface wave on the Richter scale. This reduction rate in magnitude can considerably reduce destructions in the case of earthquake.

Boolean Logic with Fault Tolerant Coding

Error detectable and error correctable coding in Hamming space was researched to discover possible fault tolerant coding constellations, which can implement Boolean logic with fault tolerant property. Basic logic operators of the Boolean algebra were developed to apply fault tolerant coding in the logic circuits. It was shown that application of three-bit fault tolerant codes have provided the digital system skill of auto-recovery without need for designing additional-fault tolerance mechanisms.

Adaptive Fault Masking With Incoherence Scoring

An adaptive voting algorithm for digital media was introduced in this study. Availability was improved by incoherence scoring in voting mechanism of Multi-Modular Redundancy. Regulation parameters give the algorithm flexibility of adjusting priorities in decision process. Proposed adaptive voting algorithm was shown to be more aware of fault status of redundant modules

Hierarchical Triple-Modular Redundancy (H-TMR) Network For Digital Systems

Hierarchical application of Triple-Modular Redundancy (TMR) increases fault tolerance of digital Integrated Circuit (IC). In this paper, a simple probabilistic model was proposed for analysis of fault masking performance of hierarchical TMR networks. Performance improvements obtained by second order TMR network were theoretically compared with first order TMR network.

Fault Masking By Probabilistic Voting

In this study, we introduced a probabilistic voter, regarding symbol probabilities in decision process besides majority consensus. Conventional majority voter is independent of functionality of redundant modules. In our study, proposed probabilistic voter is designed corresponding to functionality of the redundant module. We tested probabilistic voter for 3 and 5 redundant modules with random transient errors inserted the wires and it was seen from simulation results that Multi-Modular Redundancy (M-MR) with Probabilistic Voting (PV) had been shown better availability performance than conventional majority voter.
