A cohomological construction of quantization functors of Lie bialgebras

We propose a variant to the Etingof-Kazhdan construction of quantization functors. We construct the twistor J_Φassociated to an associator Φusing cohomological techniques. We then introduce a criterion ensuring that the ``left Hopf algebra'' of a quasitriangular QUE algebra is flat. We prove that this criterion is satisfied at the universal level. This provides a construction of quantization functors, equivalent to the Etingof-Kazhdan construction.

Quantizations of Hitchin and Beauville-Mukai integrable systems

Spectral transformation is known to set up a birational morphism between the Hitchin and Beauville-Mukai integrable systems. The corresponding phase spaces are: (a) the cotangent bundle of the moduli space of bundles over a curve C, and (b) a symmetric power of the cotangent surface T^*(C). We conjecture that this morphism can be quantized, and we check this conjecture in the case where C is a rational curve with marked points and rank 2 bundles. We discuss the relation of the resulting isomorphism of quantized algebras with Sklyanin's separation of variables.

On the unicity of braidings of quasitriangular Lie bialgebras

Any quantization of a quasitriangular Lie bialgebra g gives rise to a braiding of the dual Poisson-Lie formal group G^*. We show that this braiding always coincides with the Weinstein-Xu braiding. We also define the lifts of the classical r-matrix r as certain functions on G^* x G^*, prove their existence and uniqueness using co-Hochschild cohomology arguments and show that the lift can be expressed in terms of r by universal formulas.

A h-adic valuation property of universal R-matrices

We prove that if U_h(g) is a quasitriangular QUE algebra with universal R-matrix R, and O_h(G^*) is the quantized function algebra sitting inside U_h(g), then h log(R) belongs to the tensor square O_h(G^*) otimes O_h(G^*). This gives another proof of the results of Gavarini and Halbout, saying that R normalizes O_h(G^*) otimes O_h(G^*) and therefore induces a braiding of the formal group G^* (in the sense of Weinstein and Xu, or Reshetikhin).

Quantization of canonical cones of algebraic curves

We introduce a quantization of the graded algebra of functions on the canonical cone of an algebraic curve C, based on the theory of formal pseudodifferential operators. When C is a complex curve with Poincaré uniformization, we propose another, equivalent construction, based on the work of Cohen-Manin-Zagier on Rankin-Cohen brackets. We give a presentation of the quantum algebra when C is a rational curve, and discuss the problem of constructing algebraically "differential liftings".

Commuting families in skew fields and quantization of Beauville's fibration

We construct commuting families in fraction fields of symmetric powers of algebras. The classical limit of this construction gives Poisson commuting families associated with linear systems. In the case of a K3 surface S, they correspond to lagrangian fibrations introduced by Beauville. When S is the canonical cone of an algebraic curve C, we construct commuting families of differential operators on symmetric powers of C, quantizing the Beauville systems.

On some universal algebras associated to the category of Lie bialgebras

In our previous work (math/0008128), we studied the set Quant(K) of all universal quantization functors of Lie bialgebras over a field K of characteristic zero, compatible with duals and doubles. We showed that Quant(K) is canonically isomorphic to a product G_0(K) \times Sha(K), where G_0(K) is a universal group and Sha(K) is a quotient set of a set B(K) of families of Lie polynomials by the action of a group G(K). We prove here that G_0(K) is equal to the multiplicative group 1 + h K[[h]]. So Quant(K) is `as close as it can be' to Sha(K). We also show that the only universal derivations of Lie bialgebras are multiples of the composition of the bracket with the cobracket. Finally, we prove that the stabilizer of any element of B(K) is reduced to the 1-parameter subgroup of G(K) generated by the corresponding `square of the antipode'.

Quantization of Lie bialgebras and shuffle algebras of Lie algebras

To any field K of characteristic 0, we associate a set Sha(K). Elements of Sha(K) are equivalence classes of families of Lie polynomials subject to associativity relations. We construct an injection and a retraction between Sha(K) and the set of quantization functors of Lie bialgebras over K. This construction involves the following steps. 1) To each element \varpi of Sha(K), we associate a functor g\mapsto Sh(g) from the category of Lie algebras to that of Hopf algebras; Sh(g) contains Ug. 2) When g and h are Lie algebras, and r_{gh} \in g\otimes h, we construct an element R(r_{gh}) of Sh(g)\otimes Sh(h) satisfying quasitriangularity identities; R(r_{gh}) defines a Hopf algebra morphism from Sh(g)^* to Sh(h). 3) When g = h and r\in g\otimes g is a solution of CYBE, we construct a series ρ(r) such that R(ρ(r)) is a solution of QYBE. The expression of ρ(r) in terms of r involves Lie polynomials, and we show that this expression is unique at a universal level. This step relies on vanishing statements for cohomologies arising from universal algebras for the solutions of CYBE. 4) We define the quantization of a Lie bialgebra g as the image of the morphism defined by R(ρ(r)), where r\in g\otimes g^* is the canonical element attached to g.

Quantum homogeneous spaces and quasi-Hopf algebras

We propose a formulation of the quantization problem of Manin quadruples, and show that a solution to this problem yields a quantization of the corresponding Poisson homogeneous spaces. We then solve both quantization problems in an example related to quantum spheres.

Solutions of the KZB equations in genus \geq 1

We introduce a flat version of the KZB connection. This connection is defined on the complement of the locus of Weierstrass points on the moduli space of genus $g$ complex curves with marked points. We then give integral formulas for flat sections of this connection, using the parametrization of conformal blocks and of the KZB connection of our earlier paper math/9807145.

Hecke-Tyurin parametrization of the Hitchin and KZB systems

We study the parametrization of the moduli space Bun_2(C)_L of rank 2 bundles over a curve C with fixed determinant, provided by Hecke modifications at fixed points of the trivial bundle. This parametrization is closely related to the Tyurin parametrization of vector bundles over curves. We use it to parametrize the Hitchin and KZB systems, as well as lifts of the Beilinson-Drinfeld D-modules. We express a generating series for the lifts of the Beilinson-Drinfeld operators in terms of a "quantum L-operator" \ell(z). We explain the relation to earlier joint work with G. Felder, based on parametrization by flags of bundles (math/9807145) and introduce filtrations on conformal blocks, related with the Hecke modifications.

PBW and duality theorems for quantum groups and quantum current algebras

We give proofs of the PBW and duality theorems for the quantum Kac-Moody algebras and quantum current algebras, relying on Lie bialgebra duality. We also show that the classical limit of the quantum current algebras associated with an untwisted affine Cartan matrix is the enveloping algebra of a quotient of the corresponding toroidal algebra; this quotient is trivial in all cases except the $A_1^{(1)}$ case.

Commuting differential and difference operators associated to complex curves, II

We construct a commuting family of difference-evaluation operators, deforming the commuting family introduced in our earlier paper (math/9807145). We interpret them as the action of the center of quantum algebras in the space of intertwiners for a ``regular'' subalgebra. These algebras are the quantum groups associated with sl_2 and algebraic curves, introduced by V. Rubtsov and the first author (q-alg/9608005). In the case of rational curves, our operators coincide those provided by the Yangian action on the hypergeometric spaces of Tarasov and Varchenko (q-alg/9604011).

Commuting differential and difference operators associated to complex curves, I

We introduce twists by Cartan elements of conformal blocks on a curve X, corresponding to a Lie algebra g. We show that these twists define holomorphic functions, with theta-like behaviour, on a product of copies of its Jacobian J(X)^r. We then parametrise the conformal blocks by their twisted correlation functions of nilpotent currents, in the spirit of Feigin-Stoyanovsky. We compute the action of the Sugawara tensor in terms of these correlation functions. The result is a family of operators acting on forms on the product J(X)^r \times \prod_{i} S^{n_i}X of the Jacobian of X with its symmetric powers. These operators act by differentiation in the Jacobian directions, and evaluations and residues in the variables of the symmetric powers. They serve to express the KZB connection, which we view as a connection on the space of curves with marked a-cycles. These operators also make sense when the level is critical. In that case, they commute with each other. We explain their connection with the Beilinson-Drinfeld operators. In a sequel to this paper, we will do a similar computation in the q-deformed case, replacing the inclusion of the enveloping algebras of the Lie algebra of regular functions on X in that of functions on the formal disc by some inclusion of quasi-Hopf algebras, which were introduced in work of one of us and V. Rubtsov. The outcome is a commuting family of difference-evaluation operators, which may be viewed in the rational case as the Bethe ansatz formulation of the qKZ operators.

On correlation functions of Drinfeld currents and shuffle algebras

We express the vanishing conditions satisfied by the correlation functions of Drinfeld currents of quantum affine algebras, imposed by the quantum Serre relations. We discuss the relation of these vanishing conditions with a shuffle algebra description of the algebra of Drinfeld currents.

Some examples of quantum groups in higher genus

This is a survey of our construction of current algebras, associated with complex curves and rational differentials. We also study in detail two classes of examples. The first is the case of a rational curve with differentials $z^n dz$; these algebras are ``building blocks'' for the quantum current algebras introduced in our earlier work. The second is the case of a genus $>1$ curve $X$, endowed with a regular differential having only double zeroes.

Quasi-Hopf algebras associated with sl(2) and complex curves

We construct quasi-Hopf algebras quantizing double extensions of the Manin pairs of Drinfeld, associated to a curve with a meromorphic differential, and the Lie algebra sl(2). This construction makes use of an analysis of the vertex relations for the quantum groups obtained in our earlier work, PBW-type results and computation of $R$-matrices for them; its key step is a factorization of the twist operator relating ``conjugated'' versions of these quantum groups.
