Flavour violating gluino three-body decays at LHC

We study the effect of squark generation mixing on gluino production and decays at LHC in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) for the case that the gluino is lighter than all squarks and dominantly decays into three particles, $gl -> q qbar neut_k, gl -> q qbar' char_l$. We assume mixing between the second and the third squark generations in the up-type and down-type squark sectors. We show that this mixing can lead to very large branching ratios of the quark-flavour violating gluino three-body decays despite the strong constraints on quark-flavour violation (QFV) from the experimental data on B mesons. We also show that the QFV gluino decay branching ratios are very sensitive not only to the generation mixing in the squark sector, but also to the parameters of the neutralino and chargino sectors. We show that the branching ratio of the QFV gluino decay $gl -> c tbar (cbar t) neut_1$ can go up to ~ 40%. Analogously, that of the QFV decay $gl -> s bbar (sbar b) neut_1$ can reach ~35%. We find that the rates of the resulting QFV signatures, such as $pp -> t t cbar cbar E_T^mis$, can be significant at LHC. This could have an important influence on the gluino searches at LHC.

Flavour violating up-squark decays at LHC

We study the effect of squark generation mixing on squark production and decays at the LHC in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We show that the effect can be very large despite the very strong constraints on quark flavour violation (QFV) from experimental data on B mesons. We find that the two lightest up-type squarks ${\tilde u}_{1,2}$ can have large branching ratios for the decays into $c {\tildeχ_1^0}$ and $t {\tildeχ_1^0}$ at the same time, leading to QFV signals '$p p \to c \bar t\, (t \bar c)$ + missing-$E_T$ + $X$' with a significant rate. The observation of this remarkable signature would provide a powerful test of supersymmetric QFV at LHC. This could have a significant impact on the search for squarks and the determination of the underlying MSSM parameters.

Impact of squark generation mixing on the search for squarks decaying into fermions at LHC

We study the effect of squark generation mixing on squark production and decays at LHC in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We show that the effect can be very large despite the very strong constraints on quark flavour violation (QFV) from experimental data on B mesons. We find that the two lightest up-type squarks su_{1,2} can have large branching ratios for the decays into 'c-quark + neutralino_1' and 't-quark + neutralino_1' at the same time due to squark generation mixing, leading to QFV signals 'pp -> c bar{t} (t bar{c}) + missing-E_T + X' with a significant rate. The observation of this remarkable signature would provide a powerful test of supersymmetric QFV at LHC. This could have a significant impact on the search for squarks and the determination of the underlying MSSM parameters.

Impact of squark generation mixing on the search for squarks and gluinos at LHC

We study the effect of squark-generation mixing on production and decays of squarks and gluinos at LHC in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We show that the mixing effects can be very large in a significant range of the squark-generation mixing parameters despite the very strong constraints on quark-flavour violation (QFV) from experimental data on B mesons. We find that under favourable conditions the QFV decay branching ratio B(gluino -> c bar{t} (t bar{c}) neutralino_1) can be as large as about 50%, which may lead to significant QFV signals at LHC. We also find that the squark generation mixing can result in a novel multiple-edge (3- or 4-edge) structure in the charm-top quark invariant mass distribution. Further we show that the two lightest up-type squarks ~u_{1,2} can have very large branching ratios for the decays ~u_i -> c neutralino_1 and ~u_i -> t neutralino_1 simultaneously due to the mixing effect, resulting in QFV signals 'pp -> c bar{t} (t bar{c}) + missing-E_T + X' at a significant rate at LHC. These remarkable signatures could provide a powerful test of supersymmetric QFV at LHC and could have an important impact on the search for squarks and gluinos and the determination of the MSSM parameters at LHC.

SUSY-QCD corrections to dark matter annihilations

We present full QCD and SUSY-QCD corrections to neutralino pair annihilation into quark-antiquark pairs. We show results and numerically evaluate their impact on the neutralino annihilation cross section and the relic density in scenarios with non-universal gaugino masses. By comparing to the relic density obtained from a pure leading order calculation, we demonstrate that the corrections strongly influence the extraction of SUSY mass parameters from cosmological data.

Flavour Violation in Gauge-Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking Models: Experimental Constraints and Phenomenology at the LHC

We present an extensive analysis of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking models with minimal and non-minimal flavour violation. We first demonstrate that low-energy, precision electroweak, and cosmological constraints exclude large "collider-friendly" regions of the minimal parameter space. We then discuss various possibilities how flavour violation, although naturally suppressed, may still occur in gauge-mediation models. The introduction of non-minimal flavour violation at the electroweak scale is shown to relax the stringent experimental constraints, so that benchmark points, that are also cosmologically viable, can be defined and their phenomenology, i.e. squark and gaugino production cross sections with flavour violation, at the LHC can be studied.

Collider aspects of flavour physics at high Q

This review presents flavour related issues in the production and decays of heavy states at LHC, both from the experimental side and from the theoretical side. We review top quark physics and discuss flavour aspects of several extensions of the Standard Model, such as supersymmetry, little Higgs model or models with extra dimensions. This includes discovery aspects as well as measurement of several properties of these heavy states. We also present public available computational tools related to this topic.

SUSY-QCD Corrections to Dark Matter Annihilation in the Higgs Funnel

We compute the full O(alpha_s) SUSY-QCD corrections to dark matter annihilation in the Higgs-funnel, resumming potentially large mu tan beta and A_b contributions and keeping all finite O(m_b,s,1/tan^2 beta) terms. We demonstrate numerically that these corrections strongly influence the extraction of SUSY mass parameters from cosmological data and must therefore be included in common analysis tools such as DarkSUSY or micrOMEGAs.

Squark and Gaugino Hadroproduction and Decays in Non-Minimal Flavour Violating Supersymmetry

We present an extensive analysis of squark and gaugino hadroproduction and decays in non-minimal flavour violating supersymmetry. We employ the so-called super-CKM basis to define the possible misalignment of quark and squark rotations, and we use generalized (possibly complex) charges to define the mutual couplings of (s)quarks and gauge bosons/gauginos. The cross sections for all squark-(anti-)squark/gaugino pair and squark-gaugino associated production processes as well as their decay widths are then given in compact analytic form. For four different constrained supersymmetry breaking models with non-minimal flavour violation in the second/third generation squark sector only, we establish the parameter space regions allowed/favoured by low-energy, electroweak precision, and cosmological constraints and display the chirality and flavour decomposition of all up- and down-type squark mass eigenstates. Finally, we compute numerically the dependence of a representative sample of production cross sections at the LHC on the off-diagonal mass matrix elements in the experimentally allowed/favoured ranges.
