Abelian Monopoles in SU(2) Lattice Gauge Theory as Physical Objects

By numerical calculations we show that the abelian monopole currents are locally correlated with the density of SU(2) lattice action. The correlations are larger by the order of magnitude in the maximal abelian projection than in the projections which correspond to the diagonalization of Polyakov line and to the diagonalization of the plaquette. These facts show that (at least) in the maximal abelian projection the monopoles are the physical objects, they carry the SU(2) action. The larger value of β, the larger the relative action carried by monopole. Calculations on the asymmetric lattice show that this correlation exists also in the deconfinement phase of gluodynamics.

Abelian monopoles in lattice gluodynamics as physical objects

By numerical calculations we show that the abelian monopole currents are locally correlated with the density of SU(2) lattice action. This fact is established for the maximal abelian projection. Thus, in the maximal abelian projection the monopoles are physical objects, they carry SU(2) action. Calculations on the asymmetric lattice show that the correlation between monopole currents and the density of SU(2) lattice action also exists in the deconfinement phase of gluodynamics.

Equivalence of Covariant and Light-Front Perturbation Theory

Light-Front Field Theory (LFFT) is a good candidate to describe bound states. In LFFT covariance is non-manifest. Burkardt and Langnau claim that, even for scattering amplitudes, rotational invariance is broken. We will take a different path of obtaining rules for light-front time-ordered diagrams. Covariance depends on the choice of a regulator $α$. We need to apply some regularisation scheme to render physical amplitudes finite. This is done by applying minus regularisation. In this process all ambiguities related to the regulator $α$ are removed. Therefore there is equivalence between the perturbative expansions of covariant and LFFT.

Pauli-Potential and Green Function Monte-Carlo Method for Many-Fermion Systems

The time evolution of a many-fermion system can be described by a Green's function corresponding to an effective potential, which takes anti-symmetrization of the wave function into account, called the Pauli-potential. We show that this idea can be combined with the Green's Function Monte Carlo method to accurately simulate a system of many non-relativistic fermions. The method is illustrated by the example of systems of several (2-9) fermions in a square well.

Equivalence of Light-Front and Covariant Field Theory

In this paper we discuss the relation between the standard covariant quantum field theory and light-front field theory. We define covariant theory by its Feynman diagrams, whereas light-front field theory is defined in terms of light-cone time-ordered diagrams. A general algorithm is proposed that produces the latter from any Feynman diagram. The procedure is illustrated in several cases. Technical problems that occur in the light-front formulation and have no counterpart in the covariant formulation are identified and solved.
