Searching Extra Dimensions in Compact Stars

The electro-magnetic and particle radiation detected from the direction of Cygnus X3 raise the question of the existence of special long-lived, neutral particles. We investigate the origin of these particles in a special approach: the source object may contain compactified extra dimension and these particles are messengers of this state. We describe hyperon stars in 3+1 dimension and introduce the description of a compact stars in 3+1_c+1 dimensional space-time.

The inner structure of hybrid stars

Hybrid stars with extremely high central energy density in their core are natural laboratories to investigate the appearance and the properties of compactified extra dimensions with small compactification radius -- if these extra dimensions exist at all. We introduce the necessary formalism to describe quantitatively these objects and the properties of the formed hydrostatic equilibrium. Different scenarios of the extra dimensions are discussed and the characteristic features of these hybrid stars are calculated.

Heavy quarks or compactified extra dimensions in the core of hybrid stars

Neutron stars with extremely high central energy density are natural laboratories to investigate the appearance and the properties of compactified extra dimensions with small compactification radius, if they exist. Using the same formalism, these exotic hybrid stars can be described as neutron stars with quark core, where the high energy density allows the presence of heavy quarks (c, b, t). We compare the two scenarios for hybrid stars and display their characteristic features.

Simple solutions of fireball hydrodynamics for self-similar elliptic flows

Simple, self-similar, elliptic solutions of non-relativistic fireball hydrodynamics are presented, generalizing earlier results for spherically symmetric fireballs with Hubble flows and homogeneous temperature profiles. The transition from one dimensional to three dimensional expansions is investigated in an efficient manner.

New analytic solutions of the non-relativistic hydrodynamical equations

New solutions are found for the non-relativistic hydrodynamical equations. These solutions describe expanding matter with a Gaussian density profile. In the simplest case, thermal equilibrium is maintained without any interaction, the energy is conserved, and the process is isentropic. More general solutions are also obtained that describe explosions driven by heat production, or contraction of the matter caused by energy loss.

Thermodynamic Length, Time, Speed and Optimum Path to Minimize Entropy Production

In addition to the Riemannian metricization of the thermodynamic state space, local relaxation times offer a natural time scale, too. Generalizing existing proposals, we relate {\it thermodynamic} time scale to the standard kinetic coefficients of irreversible thermodynamics. Criteria for minimum entropy production in slow, slightly irreversible processes are discussed. Euler-Lagrange equations are derived for optimum thermodynamic control for fixed clock-time period as well as for fixed {\it thermodynamic} time period. Only this latter requires constant thermodynamic speed as the optimum control proposed earlier. An easy-to-implement stepwise algorithm is constructed to realize control at constant thermodynamic speed. Since thermodynamic time is shown to correspond to the number of steps, thus the sophisticated task of determining thermodynamic time in real control problems can be substituted by measuring ordinary intensive variables. Most remarkably, optimum paths are Riemannian geodesics which would not be the case had we used ordinary time.

Are There Top Quarks In Superdense Hybrid Stars?

It is examined whether primordial top quarks from the Big Bang could survive under natural conditions till present days. Hybrid quark-neutron stars, with dense enough core to maintain the existence of top quarks, is discussed. In this paper only final states are investigated. Zero temperature quark-lepton matter is modelled as as a gas of non-interacting particles. Local charge neutrality has been assumed in order to avoid volume interactions which would not make thermodynamical treatment possible.

Calculation of X-Ray Signals from Karolyhazy Hazy Space-Time

Karolyhazy's hazy space-time model, invented for breaking down macroscopic interferences, employs wave-like gravity disturbances. If so, then electric charges would radiate permanently. Here we discuss the observational consequences of the radiation. We find that such radiation is excluded by common experimental situations.

Karolyhazy's quantum space-time generates neutron star density in vacuum

By simple arguments, we have shown that Karolyhazy's model overestimates the quantum uncertainty of the space-time geometry and leads to absurd physical consequences. The given model can thus not account for gradual violation of quantum coherence and can not predict tiny experimental effects either.
