Analyticity, crossing and the absorptive parts of the one-loop contributions to the quark-quark-gluon gauge boson four-point function

Starting from the known one-loop result for the $e^{+}e^{-}$-annihilation process $e^{+}e^{-}\stackrel{γ,Z} {\longrightarrow} q\bar{q}g$ with massless quarks we employ analyticity and crossing to determine the absorptive parts of the corresponding one-loop contributions in Deep Inelastic Scattering (DIS) and in the Drell-Yan process (DY). Whereas the ${\cal O}(α_s^2)$ absorptive parts generate a non-measurable phase factor in the $e^{+}e^{-}$-annihilation channel one obtains measurable phase effects from the one-loop contributions in the deep inelastic and in the Drell-Yan case. We compare our results with the results of previous calculations where the absorptive parts in DIS and in the DY process were calculated directly in the respective channels. We also present some new results on the dispersive and absorptive contributions of the triangle anomaly graph to the DIS process.

Exclusive-Inclusive Ratio of Semileptonic Lambda_b-Decays

We present theoretical evidence that the exclusive/inclusive ratio of semileptonic $Λ_b$-decays exceeds that of semileptonic B-decays where the experimental exclusive/inclusive ratio amounts to about 66%. We start from the observation that the spectator quark model provides a lower bound on the leading order Isgur-Wise function of the $Λ_b \to Λ_c$ transition in terms of the corresponding $B \to D,D^*$ mesonic Isgur-Wise function. Using experimental data for the $B \to D,D^*$ mesonic Isgur-Wise functions this bound is established. Applying a Bethe-Salpeter model including spectator quark interactions and a QCD sum rule estimate of the $Λ_b \to Λ_c$ transition form factor which satisfy the spectator quark model bound we predict the exclusive/inclusive ratio of semileptonic $Λ_b$ decay rates to lie in a range between 0.81 and 0.92. We also provide an upper bound on the baryonic Isgur-Wise function which is determined from the requirement that the exclusive rate should not exceed the inclusive rate.

Lifetime-difference pattern of heavy hadrons

The preasymptotic effects originating from the four-quark operators are disentangled from the other contributions by considering appropriate combinations of inclusive decay rates. Under the assumption of the isospin and heavy-quark symmetry, a set of relations connecting charmed and beauty decays is obtained without invoking specific models. The results are compared with other approaches and confronted with experiment.

Nucleon strangeness as the response to a strangeness-sensitive probe in a class of hadron models

On top of its valence quarks, the full nucleon ground state may contain appreciable admixture of s-\bar{s} pairs already at small momentum transfers. This paper discusses strangeness in the mean-field type of nucleon models, and exemplifies this by explicit calculations in the MIT bag model enriched by the presence of instantons. We calculate the instanton contribution to the strangeness in the MIT bag (on top of the standard contribution to strangeness found in that model). Although we do it in an essentially perturbative way, we present a detailed derivation of the formula expressing nucleon matrix elements of bilinear strange quark operators, in terms of a model valence nucleon state and interactions producing quark-antiquark fluctuations on top of that valence state. We do it in detail to clarify our argument that in the context of the mean-field type of quark models (where a Fock state expansion exists and where the nucleon state can be constructed out of single-quark states), the resulting formula acquires a significance beyond perturbation theory. The derivation combines the usage of the evolution operator containing a strangeness source, and Feynman-Hellmann theorem.

Preasymptotic effects in beauty decays

Large preasymptotic effects in beauty decays have been found using heavy-quark and SU(3) symmetry, as well as experimental data on charmed hyperons. Contrary to rather uniform beauty-meson lifetimes, a much larger spread of beauty-baryon lifetimes is predicted. However, it is highly unlikely that, theoretically, the $ τ(Λ_b)/τ(B_d^0) $ ratio, which at present deviates more than $1σ$ from the experimental result, can be lowered below 0.9.

Inclusive decays and lifetimes of doubly charmed baryons

We extend the analysis of weak decays of heavy hadrons to the case of doubly charmed baryons, Ξ_{cc}^{++}, Ξ_{cc}^{+} and Ω_{cc}^{+}. Doubly charmed baryons are modeled as a heavy-light system containing a heavy cc-diquark and a light quark. Such a model leads to preasymptotic effects in semileptonic and nonleptonic decays which are essentially proportional to the meson wave function. Very clear predictions for semileptonic branching ratios and lifetimes of doubly charmed baryons are obtained.

On the PQCD prediction for the pion form factor

We comment on the results of a complete leading-twist next-to-leading order QCD analysis of the spacelike pion electromagnetic form factor at large-momentum transfer Q. For the asymptotic distribution amplitude, we have examined the sensitivity of the predictions to the choice of the renormalization scale. The results show that, regarding the size of the radiative corrections, reliable perturbative predictions for the pion electromagnetic form factor can already be made at a momentum transfer Q of the order of 5 to 10 GeV.

Enhancement of preasymptotic effects in inclusive beauty decays

We extend Voloshin's recent analysis of charmed and beauty hyperon decays based on SU(3) symmetry and heavy quark effective theory, by introducing a rather moderate model-dependence, in order to obtain more predictive power, e.g. the values of lifetimes of the (Λ_{b},Ξ_{b}) hyperon triplet and the lifetime of Ω_{b}. In this way we obtain an improvement of the ratio τ(Λ_{b})/τ(B_{d}^{0}) \sim 0.9 and the hierarchy of lifetimes τ(Λ_{b}) \simeq τ(Ξ_{b}^{0}) < τ(Ξ_{b}^{-}) < τ(Ω_{b}) with lifetimes of Ξ_{b}^{-} and Ω_{b} exceeding the lifetime of Λ_{b} by 22% and 35%, respectively.

On the instanton-induced portion of the nucleon strangeness

We calculate the instanton contribution to the proton strangeness in the MIT bag enriched by the presence of a dilute instanton liquid. The evaluation is based on expressing the nucleon matrix elements of bilinear strange quark operators in terms of a model valence nucleon state and interactions producing quark-antiquark fluctuations on top of that valence state. Our method combines the usage of the evolution operator containing a strangeness source, and the Feynman-Hellmann theorem. It enables one to evaluate the strangeness in different Lorentz channels in, essentially, the same way. Only the scalar channel is found to be affected by the interaction induced by the random instanton liquid.

On the complete next-to-leading order pQCD prediction for the pion form factor

We comment on the results of a complete leading-twist next-to-leading order QCD analysis of the spacelike pion electromagnetic form factor at large-momentum transfer Q. For the asymptotic distribution amplitude, we have examined the sensitivity of the predictions to the choice of the renormalization scale. The results show that reliable perturbative predictions for the pion electromagnetic form factor can already be made at a momentum transfer Q below 10 GeV.

Complete next-to-leading order perturbative QCD prediction for the pion electromagnetic form factor

We present the results of a complete leading-twist next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD analysis of the spacelike pion electromagnetic form factor at large momentum transfer Q. We have studied their dependence on the form of the pion distribution amplitude. For a given distribution amplitude, we have examined the sensitivity of the predictions to the choice of the renormalization and factorization scales. Theoretical uncertainty of the LO results related to the renormalization scale ambiguity has been significantly reduced by including the NLO corrections. Adopting the criteria according to which a NLO prediction is considered reliable if, both, the ratio of the NLO to LO contributions and the strong coupling constant are reasonably small, we find that reliable perturbative predictions for the pion electromagnetic form factor with all distribution amplitudes considered can already be made at a momentum transfer Q<10 GeV, with corrections to the LO results being typically of the order of ~ 20%. To check our predictions and to discriminate between the distribution amplitudes, it is necessary to obtain experimental data extending to higher values of Q.

Inclusive decays and lifetimes of doubly charmed baryons

The analysis of singly charmed hadrons has been extended to the case of doubly charmed baryons, $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$, $Ξ_{cc}^{+}$ and $Ω_{cc}^{+}$. Doubly charmed baryons are described as a system containing a heavy $cc$-diquark and a light quark, similarly as in a heavy-light meson. This leads to preasymptotic effects in semileptonic and nonleptonic decays which are essentially proportional to the meson wave function. Interplay between preasymptotic effects in semileptonic and/or nonleptonic decay rates leads to very clear predictions for semileptonic branching ratios and lifetimes of doubly charmed baryons.

Inclusive Charmed-Baryon Decays and Lifetimes

We have quantitatively reanalyzed the inclusive charmed-baryon decays. New ingredients are the Voloshin preasymptotic effects in semileptonic decays and the Cabibbo-subleading contributions to both semileptonic and nonleptonic decays. It has been found that the Cabbibo-subleading Voloshin contribution essentially improves the theoretical semileptonic branching ratio of $Λ_c^{+}$, in agreement with experiment. The semileptonic branching ratios for $Ξ_c^{+}$ and $Ω_c^{0}$ are found to be large, i.e., of the order of 20%. The lifetimes hierarchy is in a good qualitative and even quantitative agreement with experiment except for the $Ξ_c^{+}$ lifetime, which is somewhat smaller than the experimental value. Future measurements, especially measurements of the semileptonic branching ratios for $Ω_c^{0}$, $Ξ_c^{+}$ and $Ξ_c^{0}$ should be decisive for the check of this approach.

Permutation Invariant Statistics, Duality and Simple Interpolations

General permutation invariant statistics in the second quantized approach are considered. Simple interpolations between dual statistics are constructed. Particularly, we present a new minimal interpolation between parabosons and parafermions of any order. The connection with a simple mixing between bosons and fermions is established. The construction is extended to anyonic-like statistics.
