The equilibrium of the dense electron-nuclear plasma in the gravitational field. The magnetic fields and masses of stars

The equilibrium of a hot dense plasma in a gravitational field is considered. From the standard equilibrium equations, the energy minimum at density about $10^{25}$ particles per $cm^3$ and temperature about $10^7 K$ was found. This effect plays an important role for astrophysics. It enables to explain the mechanism of the star magnetic field generation and to make a prediction for the spectrum of a star mass with a wholly satisfactory agreement for the observation data.

The temperature dependence of equilibrium plasma density

Temperature dependence of an electron-nuclear plasma equilibrium density is considered basing on known approaches, which are given in (1)(2). It is shown that at a very high temperature, which is characteristic for a star interior, the equilibrium plasma density is almost constant and equals approximately to $10^{25}$ particles per $cm^3$. At a relatively low temperature, which is characteristic for star surface, the equilibrium plasma density is in several orders lower and depends on temperature as $T^{3/2}$.

Energy generation in stars

It is a current opinion that thermonuclear fusion is the main source of the star activity. It is shown below that this source is not unique. There is another electrostatic mechanism of the energy generation which accompanies thermonuclear fusion. Probably, this approach can solve the solar neutrino problem.

The apsidal motion in close binary stars

It is usually accepted to consider an apsidal motion in binary stars as a direct confirmation that a substance inside stars is not uniformly distributed. It is shown in this paper that the apsidal motion in binary systems observation data is in a good agreement with an existence of uniform plasma cores inside stars if they consist of hydrogen-deuterium-helium mixture.

The equilibrium of dense plasma in a gravity field

The equilibrium of dense plasma in a gravity field and problem of a gravity-induced electric polarization in this matter are discussed. The calculation for metals performed before shows that both - the gravity-induced compressive strain and the gravity-induced electric field - are inversely proportional to their Young moduli. The calculation for high dense plasma, where Young modulus is equal to zero, shows that there is another effect: each cell of this plasma inside a celestial body in own gravity field obtains the small positive electric charge. It happens as heavy ions sag on to light electron clouds. A celestial body stays electrically neutral as a whole, because the negative electric charge concentrates on its surface. The gravity-induced positive volume charge is very small, its order of magnitude equals to $10^{-18}e$ per atom only. But it is sufficient for the complete conterbalancing of the gravity force.

Estimation of steady-state basic parameters of stars

From a minimum of total energy of celestial bodies, their basic parameters are obtained. The steady-state values of the mass, radius, and temperature of stars and white dwarfs, as well as masses of pulsars are calculated. The luminosity and giromagnetic ratio of celestial bodies are estimated. All the obtained values are in a satisfactory agreement with observation data.

Astrophysical Effects Related to Gravity-Induced Electric Polarization of Matter

The calculations in Thomas-Fermi approximation show that in a gravitational field each cell of ultra dense matter inside celestial bodies obtains a very small positive electric charge. A celestial body is electrically neutral as a whole, because the negative electric charge exists at its surface. The positive volume charge is very small, on the order of magnitude it equals to 10^{-18}e per atom only. But it is sufficient to explain the occurrence of magnetic fields of the celestial bodies and the existence of a discrete spectrum of steady-state values of masses of planets, stars, and pulsars.
