Partial heteroscedastic deconvolution estimation in nonparametric regression

In this paper, we consider a partial deconvolution kernel estimator for nonparametric regression when some covariates are measured with error while others are observed without error. We focus on a general and realistic setting in which the measurement errors are heteroscedastic. We propose a kernel-based estimator of the regression function in this framework and show that it achieves the optimal convergence rate under suitable regularity conditions. The finite-sample performance of the proposed estimator is illustrated through simulation studies.

Recursive estimation of nonparametric regression with functional covariate

The main purpose is to estimate the regression function of a real random variable with functional explanatory variable by using a recursive nonparametric kernel approach. The mean square error and the almost sure convergence of a family of recursive kernel estimates of the regression function are derived. These results are established with rates and precise evaluation of the constant terms. Also, a central limit theorem for this class of estimators is established. The method is evaluated on simulations and real data set studies.

Consistency of the recursive nonparametric regression estimation for dependent functional data

We consider the recursive estimation of a regression functional where the explanatory variables take values in some functional space. We prove the almost sure convergence of such estimates for dependent functional data. Also we derive the mean quadratic error of the considered class of estimators. Our results are established with rates and asymptotic appear bounds, under strong mixing condition.

Optimal R-Estimation of a Spherical Location

In this paper, we provide $R$-estimators of the location of a rotationally symmetric distribution on the unit sphere of $\R^k$. In order to do so we first prove the local asymptotic normality property of a sequence of rotationally symmetric models; this is a non standard result due to the curved nature of the unit sphere. We then construct our estimators by adapting the Le Cam one-step methodology to spherical statistics and ranks. We show that they are asymptotically normal under any rotationally symmetric distribution and achieve the efficiency bound under a specific density. Their small sample behavior is studied via a Monte Carlo simulation and our methodology is illustrated on geological data.

Robust quantile estimation and prediction for spatial processes

In this paper, we present a statistical framework for modeling conditional quantiles of spatial processes assumed to be strongly mixing in space. We establish the $L_1$ consistency and the asymptotic normality of the kernel conditional quantile estimator in the case of random fields. We also define a nonparametric spatial predictor and illustrate the methodology used with some simulations.

Joint behaviour of semirecursive kernel estimators of the location and of the size of the mode of a probability density function

Let $θ$ and $μ$ denote the location and the size of the mode of a probability density. We study the joint convergence rates of semirecursive kernel estimators of $θ$ and $μ$. We show how the estimation of the size of the mode allows to measure the relevance of the estimation of its location. We also enlighten that, beyond their computational advantage on nonrecursive estimators, the semirecursive estimators are preferable to use for the construction on confidence regions.

Large and moderate deviations principles for kernel estimators of the multivariate regression

In this paper, we prove large deviations principle for the Nadaraya-Watson estimator and for the semi-recursive kernel estimator of the regression in the multidimensional case. Under suitable conditions, we show that the rate function is a good rate function. We thus generalize the results already obtained in the unidimensional case for the Nadaraya-Watson estimator. Moreover, we give a moderate deviations principle for these two estimators. It turns out that the rate function obtained in the moderate deviations principle for the semi-recursive estimator is larger than the one obtained for the Nadaraya-Watson estimator.

Large and moderate deviations principles for recursive kernel estimators of a multivariate density and its partial derivatives

In this paper we prove large and moderate deviations principles for the recursive kernel estimator of a probability density function and its partial derivatives. Unlike the density estimator, the derivatives estimators exhibit a quadratic behavior not only for the moderate deviations scale but also for the large deviations one. We provide results both for the pointwise and the uniform deviations.
