Long-Term Dynamical Evolution and Ejection of Near-Earth Asteroids

Long-term integrations of asteroid orbits with high-accuracy numerical integrators are essential for understanding dynamical evolution and ejection from the Solar System, but are computationally expensive. Here, we investigate the dynamical behaviour of asteroids and explore machine-learning (ML) and deep-learning (DL) approaches as efficient, scalable alternatives for classifying long-term dynamical outcomes. While the ML classifiers are trained on initial orbital elements, the convolutional neural network is trained on recurrence plots derived from short-period numerical integrations generated with the MERCURY integrator. Ensemble tree models perform strongly on the ephemeris input, and the neural network captures temporal signatures of chaotic motion with comparable or slightly improved accuracy. Backward integrations reveal partial overlap between forward- and reverse-ejected sets, illustrating time-asymmetric behaviour in chaotic regions; these backward results are interpreted only as diagnostic probes rather than reconstructions of past histories. Non-ejected asteroids largely correspond to known dynamical groups, underscoring the constraining role of initial orbital configuration. These methods provide scalable frameworks to complement numerical integrations and inform prioritisation for detailed long-term dynamical studies, with implications for planetary-defence analyses.

Normalization of Hamiltonian and Nonlinear Stability of the Triangular Equilibrium Points in Non-resonance Case with Perturbations

For the study of nonlinear stability of a dynamical system, normalized Hamiltonian of the system is very important to discuss the dynamics in the vicinity of invariant objects. In general, it represents a nonlinear approximation to the dynamics, which is very helpful to obtain the information about realistic solution of the problem. Present paper reflects about normalization of the Hamiltonian and analysis of nonlinear stability in non-resonance case, in the Chermnykh-like problem under the influence of perturbations in the form of radiation pressure, oblateness, and a disc. To describe nonlinear stability, initially, quadratic part of the Hamiltonian is normalized in the neighborhood of triangular equilibrium point and then higher order normalization is performed. Due to the presence of perturbations and a tedious huge algebraic computation for intermediate terms, we have computed only up to the fourth order normalized Hamiltonian using Lie transforms. In non-resonance case, nonlinear stability of the system is discussed with the help of Arnold-Moser theorem. Again, the effects of radiation pressure, oblateness and presence of the disc are analyzed, separately and it is observed that in the absence as well as presence of perturbation parameters, triangular equilibrium point is unstable in nonlinear sense within the stability range $0<μ<μ_1=\bar{μ_c}$ due to failure of Arnold-Moser theorem. However, perturbation parameters affect the values of $μ$ at which $D_4=0$, significantly. This study may help to analyze more generalized cases of the problem in the presence of some other types of perturbations such as P-R drag and solar wind drag. The results are limited to the regular symmetric disc but in future it can be extended.

Stability and Fourier-series periodic solution in the binary stellar systems

In this paper, we use the restricted three body problem in the binary stellar systems, taking photogravitational effects of both the stars. The aim of this study is to investigate the motion of the infinitesimal mass in the vicinity of the Lagrangian points. We have computed semi-analytical expressions for the locations of the collinear points with the help of the perturbation technique. The stability of the triangular points is studied in stellar binary systems Kepler-34, Kepler-35, Kepler-413 and Kepler-16. To investigate the stability of the triangular points, we have obtained the expressions for critical mass which depends on the radiation of both primaries. Fourier-series method is applied to obtain periodic orbits of the infinitesimal mass around triangular points in binary stellar systems. We have obtained Fourier expansions of the periodic orbits around triangular points upto third order terms. A comparison is made between periodic orbits obtained by Fourier-series method and with Runge-Kutta integration of fourth order.

Orbital Dynamics of Exoplanetary Systems Kepler-62, HD 200964 and Kepler-11

The presence of mean-motion resonances (MMRs) in exoplanetary systems is a new exciting field of celestial mechanics which motivates us to consider this work to study the dynamical behaviour of exoplanetary systems by time evolution of the orbital elements of the planets. Mainly, we study the influence of planetary perturbations on semimajor axis and eccentricity. We identify $(r+1):r$ MMR terms in the expression of disturbing function and obtain the perturbations from the truncated disturbing function. Using the expansion of the disturbing function of three-body problem and an analytical approach, we solve the equations of motion. The solution which is obtained analytically is compared with that of obtained by numerical method to validate our analytical result. In this work, we consider three exoplanetary systems namely Kepler-62, HD 200964 and Kepler-11. We have plotted the evolution of the resonant angles and found that they librate around constant value. In view of this, our opinion is that two planets of each system Kepler-62, HD 200964 and Kepler-11 are in 2:1, 4:3 and 5:4 mean motion resonances, respectively. Keywords:astrometry - celestial mechanics - planetary systems.

Geometry of halo and Lissajous orbits in the circular restricted three-body problem with drag forces

In this paper, we determine the effect of radiation pressure, Poynting-Robertson drag and solar wind drag on the Sun-(Earth-Moon) restricted three body problem. Here, we take the larger body of the Sun as a larger primary, and Earth+Moon as a smaller primary. With the help of the perturbation technique, we find the Lagrangian points, and see that the collinear points deviate from the axis joining the primaries, whereas the triangular points remain unchanged in their configuration. We also find that Lagrangian points move towards the Sun when radiation pressure increases. We have also analysed the stability of the triangular equilibrium points and have found that they are unstable because of the drag forces. Moreover, we have computed the halo orbits in the third-order approximation using Lindstedt-Poincar$\acute{e}$ method and have found the effect of the drag forces. According to this prevalence, the Sun-(Earth-Moon) model is used to design the trajectory for spacecraft traveling under the drag forces.

Stability Regions of Equilibrium Points in Restricted Four-Body Problem with Oblateness Effects

In this paper, we extend the basic model of the restricted four-body problem introducing two bigger dominant primaries $m_1$ and $m_2$ as oblate spheroids when masses of the two primary bodies ($m_2$ and $m_3$) are equal. The aim of this study is to investigate the use of zero velocity surfaces and the Poincaré surfaces of section to determine the possible allowed boundary regions and the stability orbit of the equilibrium points. According to different values of Jacobi constant $C$, we can determine boundary region where the particle can move in possible permitted zones. The stability regions of the equilibrium points expanded due to presence of oblateness coefficient and various values of $C$, whereas for certain range of $t$ ($100 \le t \le 200$), orbits form a shape of cote's spiral. For different values of oblateness parameters $A_1~ (0<A_1<1)$ and $A_2~ (0<A_2<1)$, we obtain two collinear and six non-collinear equilibrium points. The non-collinear equilibrium points are stable when the mass parameter $μ$ lies in the interval ($0.0190637,~0.647603$). However, basins of attraction are constructed with the help of Newton Raphson method to demonstrate the convergence as well as divergence region of the equilibrium points. The nature of basins of attraction of the equilibrium points are less effected in presence and absence of oblateness coefficients $A_1$ and $A_2$ respectively in the proposed model.

Periodic Orbits in the Generalized Photogravitational Chermnykh-Like Problem with Power-law Profile

The orbits about Lagrangian equilibrium points are important for scientific investigations. Since, a number of space missions have been completed and some are being proposed by various space agencies. In light of this, we consider a more realistic model in which a disk, with power-law density profile, is rotating around the common center of mass of the system. Then, we analyze the periodic motion in the neighborhood of Lagrangian equilibrium points for the value of mass parameter $0<μ\leq 1/2$. Periodic orbits of the infinitesimal mass in the vicinity of equilibrium are studied analytically and numerically. In spite of the periodic orbits, we have found some other kind of orbits like hyperbolic, asymptotic etc. The effect of radiation factor as well as oblateness coefficients on the motion of infinitesimal mass in the neighborhood of equilibrium points are also examined. The stability criteria of the orbits examined by the help of Poincaré surfaces of section (PSS) and found that stability regions depend on the Jacobi constant as well as other parameters.

Equilibrium Points and Zero Velocity Surfaces in the Restricted Four Body Problem with Solar Wind Drag

We have analyzed the motion of an infinitesimal mass in the restricted four body problem with solar wind drag. It is assumed that forces which govern the motion are mutual gravitational attractions of the primaries, radiation pressure force and solar wind drag. We have derived the equations of motion and find the Jacobi integral, zero velocity surfaces and particular solutions of the system. It is found that three collinear points are real when radiation factor $0<β<0.1$ whereas only one real point obtained when $0.125<β<0.2$. Again, stability property of the system is examined with the help of Poincaré surface of section (PSS) and Lyapunov characteristic exponents (LCEs). It is found that in presence of drag forces LCE is negative for a specific initial condition, hence the corresponding trajectory is regular whereas regular islands in the PSS are expanded.

Existence of Equilibrium Points and their Linear Stability in the Generalized Photogravitational Chermnykh-Like Problem with Power-law Profile

We consider the modified restricted three body problem with power-law density profile of disk, which rotates around the center of mass of the system with perturbed mean motion. Using analytical and numerical methods we have found equilibrium points and examined their linear stability. We have also found the zero velocity surfaces for the present model. In addition to five equilibrium points there is a new equilibrium point on the line joining the two primaries. It is found that $L_2$ and $L_3$ are stable for some values of inner and outer radius of the disk while collinear points are unstable, but $L_4$ is conditionally stable for mass ratio less than that of Routh's critical value. Lastly we have obtained the effects of radiation pressure, oblateness and mass of the disk.

Trajectories of $L_4$ and Lyapunov Characteristic Exponents in the Generalized Photogravitational Chermnykh-Like Problem

The dynamical behaviour of near by trajectories is being estimated by Lyapunov Characteristic Exponents(LCEs) in the Generalized Photogravitational Chermnykh-Like problem. It is found that the trajectories of the Lagrangian point $L_4$ move along the epicycloid path, and spirally depart from the vicinity of the point. The LCEs remain positive for all the cases and depend on the initial deviation vector as well as renormalization time step. It is noticed that the trajectories are chaotic in nature and the $L_4$ is asymptotically stable. The effects of radiation pressure, oblateness and mass of the belt are also examined in the present model.

Trajectory and stability of Lagrangian point $L_2$ in the Sun-Earth system

This paper describes design of the trajectory and analysis of the stability of collinear point $L_2$ in the Sun-Earth system. The modified restricted three body problem with additional gravitational potential from the belt is used as the model for the Sun-Earth system. The effect of radiation pressure of the Sun and oblate shape of the Earth are considered. The point $L_2$ is asymptotically stable upto a specific value of time $t$ correspond to each set of values of parameters and initial conditions. The results obtained from this study would be applicable to locate a satellite, a telescope or a space station around the point $L_2$.

Trajectories and Stability Regions of the Lagrangian Point $L_1$ in the Generalized Chermnykh-Like Problem

The Lagrange point $L_1$ for the Sun-Earth system is considered due to its special importance for the scientific community for the design of space missions. The location of the Lagrangian points with the trajectories and stability regions of $L_1$ are computed numerically for the initial conditions very close to the point. The influence of belt, effect of radiation pressure due to Sun and oblateness effect of second primary(finite body Earth) is presented for various values of parameters. The collinear point $L_1$ is asymptotically stable within a specific interval of time $t$ correspond to the values of parameters and initial conditions.

Poynting-Robertson Effect on the Lyapunov Stability of Equilibrium Points in the Generalized Photogravitational Chermnykh's Problem

The Poynting-Robertson(P-R) effect on Lyapunov stability of equilibrium points is being discussed in the the generalized photogravitational Chermnykh's problem when bigger primary is a sours of radiation and smaller primary is an oblate spheriod. We derived the equations of motion, obtained the equilibrium points and examined the linear stability of the equilibrium points for various values of parameter which have been used in the present problem. We have examined the effect of gravitational potential from the belt. The positions of the equilibrium points are different from the position in classical case. We have seen that due to the P-R effect all the equilibrium points are unstable in Lyapunov sense.

The collinear points are linearly unstable and triangular points are stable in the sense of Lyapunov stability provided $μ< μ_{Routh}=0.0385201$. The effect of gravitational potential from the belt is also examined. The mathematical properties of this system are different from the classical restricted three body problem.

The Effect of Radiation Pressure on the Equilibrium Points in the Generalised Photogravitational Restricted Three Body Problem

The existence of equilibrium points and the effect of radiation pressure have been discussed numerically. The problem is generalized by considering bigger primary as a source of radiation and small primary as an oblate spheroid. We have also discussed the Poynting-Robertson(P-R) effect which is caused due to radiation pressure. It is found that the collinear points $L_1,L_2,L_3$ deviate from the axis joining the two primaries, while the triangular points $L_4,L_5$ are not symmetrical due to radiation pressure. We have seen that $L_1,L_2,L_3$ are linearly unstable while $L_4,L_5$ are conditionally stable in the sense of Lyapunov when P-R effect is not considered. We have found that the effect of radiation pressure reduces the linear stability zones while P-R effect induces an instability in the sense of Lyapunov.
