Structural Phase Separation and Enhanced Superconductivity in La1.875Ba0.125CuO4 under Uniaxial Strain

Strain engineering has attracted significant attention in recent years due to its capability in tuning lattice and electronic structures of quantum materials. Using moderate uniaxial compressive strain, we induce structural phase separation in the low-temperature phase of x=1/8 La2-xBaxCuO4 (LBCO) single crystals. These structures are low temperature tetragonal (LTT), low temperature less orthorhombic (LTLO), and a plastically deformed nano-domain structure (PDNS), comprised of few-nanometer-sized orthorhombic domains within an amorphous matrix. These three structures exhibit distinct superconducting behaviors. The volume fraction of the LTT structure is suppressed with increasing strain, while its superconducting transition temperature increases and broadens. The LTLO structure exhibits a sharp superconducting transition above 32 K, which increases up to ~36 K at maximum strain. The PDNS phase exhibits a very broad superconducting transition and persists even after removing the strain. Our study illustrates the sensitivity of superconductivity to the structure of the LBCO sample near its stripe instability.

Holographic entanglement entropy in AdS$_3$$/$WCFT

In this paper, we consider AdS$_3$ with Comp$\grave{\mathrm{e}}$re-Song-Strominger (CSS) boundary conditions, under which the dual field theory is warped conformal field theory (WCFT), featuring a Virasoro-Kac-Moody algebra. We provide a holographic dual picture of the single interval entanglement entropy in WCFT in the bulk AdS$_3$. We explicitly show that the bulk object captures the entanglement entropy in WCFT is a massive spinning particle's worldline that anchored on the boundary of the interval. Given the mass and spin of the particle as functions of quantum numbers of the twist operator in WCFT, the on-shell worldline action will match the entanglement entropy in WCFT.

Preparation of CH3NH3PbI3 thin films with tens of micrometer scale at high temperature

The fabrication of high-quality organic-inorganic hybrid halide perovskite layers is the key prerequisite for the realization of high efficient photon energy harvest and electric energy conversion in their related solar cells. In this article, we report a novel fabrication technique of CH3NH3PbI3 layer based on high temperature chemical vapor reaction. CH3NH3PbI3 layers have been prepared by the reaction of PbI2 films which were deposited by pulsed laser deposition, with CH3NH3I vapor at various temperatures from 160 oC to 210 oC. X-ray diffraction patterns confirm the formation of pure phase, and photoluminescence spectra show the strong peak at around 760 nm. Scanning electron microscopy images confirm the significantly increased average grain size from nearly 1 μm at low reaction temperature of 160 oC to more than 10 μm at high reaction temperature of 200 oC. The solar cells were fabricated, and short-circuit current density of 15.75 mA/cm2, open-circuit voltage of 0.49 V and fill factor of 71.66% have been obtained.
