Optimal Transport and the ABP Method in Higher Codimension

We prove an inverse optimal-transport principle for the ABP contact set of animmersed submanifold. A fixed function on the submanifold determines, for every probability density on a bounded convex target, a source measure and an optimal plan. For a uniform ellipsoidal target, disintegration over the submanifold gives conditional measures whose fiberwise $L^\infty$-norms satisfy a sharp weighted average estimate with constant $\omega_n/\omega_{n+m}$ in codimensions $1\leq m\leq4$. This yields the sharp ellipsoidal Michael--Simon--Sobolev inequality in the same range, including its equality cases and symmetrization consequences. To the best of our knowledge, even in the Euclidean case, the sharp constants in codimensions three and four were previously unknown.

Heat Codimension and Scalar Curvature

Motivated by recent proofs of Gromov's codimension-two volume-growth conjecture, we propose a synthetic theory for scalar lower bound on metric measure Dirichlet spaces.

Lipschitz regularity of harmonic map heat flows from $\mathrm{RCD}$ spaces into $\mathrm{CAT}(0)$ spaces

We prove positive-time regularity for harmonic map heat flows from finite-dimensional $\mathrm{RCD}(K,N)$ spaces into complete $\mathrm{CAT}(0)$ spaces, without assuming that either the source or the target is smooth. For bounded-image initial data, the $\mathrm{EVI}$ gradient flow of the Dirichlet energy admits a representative that is locally Lipschitz jointly in space and time. Moreover, its spatial pointwise Lipschitz constant satisfies an Eells--Sampson-type parabolic Bochner inequality. The main difficulty is that the smooth parabolic perturbations used to select contact points are unavailable on an $\mathrm{RCD}$ source. We overcome it by a sliced contact-selection principle that converts the elliptic ABP estimate on $\mathrm{RCD}$ spaces into the space--time contact selection required by the Hamilton--Jacobi argument.

Contracting Transport Maps on Riemannian Manifolds

We use inverse mean curvature flow to construct bi-Lipschitz maps that preserve normalized volume and decrease distances. These maps send a round sphere onto any smooth closed strictly convex hypersurface in a sphere and a flat disk onto any smooth strictly convex free-boundary disk in a Euclidean ball. In dimension two, this proves a conjecture of E. Milman for every smooth two-sphere with Gaussian curvature at least one and gives an analogous result for nonnegatively curved disks whose boundary has geodesic curvature one. The spherical result proves the two-dimensional case of the spectral comparison conjectured by Colding and Minicozzi. Counterexamples in dimensions $n\geq3$ show that the restriction to dimension two is sharp. Furthermore, an equivariant extension of this construction yields, for every $n\geq2$, a contracting transport map from the uniform probability measure on a round hemisphere to the uniform probability measure on any closed geodesically convex subset of positive volume. This settles the remaining uniform-target case of a question raised by Beck and Jerison. In dimension two, we also find geometric conditions under which the uniform measure on the hemisphere can be transported by a contracting map to a broad class of nonuniform probability measures supported on domains in a hemisphere.

Sharp Poincar\'e interpolation along Wasserstein geodesics

Let $\mu_0$ and $\mu_1$ be $\kappa_0$- and $\kappa_1$-strongly log-concave probability measures on $\R^n$, and let $(\mu_t)_{t\in[0,1]}$ be their quadratic Wasserstein geodesic. We prove the sharp Poincar\'e constant estimate \[ \sqrt{C_P(\mu_t)} \leq \frac{1-t}{\sqrt{\kappa_0}} + \frac{t}{\sqrt{\kappa_1}}. \] The coefficient is optimal for every $t,\kappa_0,\kappa_1$, and the result remains valid for extended-valued potentials without symmetry assumptions. Equality at an interior time holds exactly when the two endpoints have Gaussian factors in the same direction, with variances $\kappa_0^{-1}$ and $\kappa_1^{-1}$. All such directions form a maximal linear subspace. This gives an affirmative answer, without symmetry or parity assumptions, to a question of Aishwarya--Rotem. The proof develops a coupled Bochner method for the two endpoints. We solve a weighted Poisson equation involving the Hessian of the Brenier potential. From its solution we construct a Bochner couple, and separate estimates for its two fields are combined along the interpolation. No curvature bound is needed for the intermediate measures. Applications include centered Gaussian relative entropy, Gaussian Brunn--Minkowski inequalities with barycenter terms, and centered HWI, logarithmic Sobolev, and Talagrand estimates.

Wasserstein Barycenter Convexity Detects Hilbertian Geometry

We prove that convexity of the Boltzmann entropy at Wasserstein barycenters is strong enough to distinguish Hilbert spaces from general Banach spaces. Thus Wasserstein barycenters provide an intrinsic optimal-transport test for Hilbertian geometry. More precisely, we show that if a finite-dimensional normed vector space, equipped with Lebesgue measure, satisfies the Wasserstein Jensen's inequality for the entropy at barycenters of arbitrary finite families of probability measures, then its norm must be induced by an inner product. This contrasts sharply with a well-known result: every finite-dimensional normed vector space satisfies the nonnegative Ricci curvature condition in the sense of Lott--Sturm--Villani, whereas barycenter convexity excludes all non-Hilbertian norms. As a consequence, smooth reversible Finsler manifolds satisfying the corresponding barycentric curvature-dimension condition have Riemannian tangent norms. The proof does not assume strict convexity of the norm. Its two main ingredients are a rank-one polarization argument, which yields the dual parallelogram identity in the strictly convex case, and a maximal-face trapping argument, which rules out flat faces of the unit ball.

Weak Quadruple Comparison and Structure Theory Beyond Alexandrov Geometry

We introduce a new four-point comparison principle, called the $(\varepsilon,\delta)$-weak quadruple condition, for non-Riemannian spaces with synthetic non-negative curvature. This condition holds not only for classical Alexandrov spaces with non-negative curvature, but also for many genuinely non-Riemannian spaces. In particular, we show that this condition is intrinsic to spaces satisfying Ohta's $S$-concavity in the full parameter range. Using this comparison principle, we develop a non-symmetric strainer framework and establish a Burago--Gromov--Perelman-type structure theory for finite-dimensional $S$-concave Busemann concave spaces. We prove that these spaces have constant integer Hausdorff dimension, satisfy the measure contraction property, are rectifiable, and admit unique Banach tangent cones almost everywhere. We further show that each such space contains an open dense topological manifold part of top dimension and full measure. Finally, we establish Hausdorff dimension estimates for singular strata and construct natural measure-theoretic stratifications of these spaces. Our framework includes Alexandrov spaces with non-negative curvature as a special case, and provides tools for studying Finslerian metric spaces whose tangent cones need not be metric cones and angles need not be symmetric.

Two-mode stability for multi-marginal optimal transport maps

We establish a two-mode stability theory for Monge solutions of the multi-marginal optimal transport problem with barycentric quadratic cost. The associated tuple of maps splits into an external barycentric mode and internal relative modes. A quadratic lower bound for the Kantorovich defect controls the internal modes and yields a square-root estimate without invoking any two-marginal map-stability theorem. The external mode is the optimal transport map from the fixed source to the Wasserstein barycenter. Combining the resulting two-mode estimate with M\'erigot's sharp theorem gives a $\frac{1}{4}$-H\"older estimate for general perturbations, while barycenter-preserving perturbations satisfy a $\frac{1}{2}$-H\"older estimate. We prove that both exponents and the dependence on the weights are optimal. We also examine the scope of such decomposition beyond the barycentric cost: collective-coordinate perturbations and uniformly concave costs of the sum retain the two-mode estimate, whereas the analyses of graph interactions, hedonic costs, and translation-invariant costs identify the two possible obstructions -- loss of relative coercivity and lack of stability for the remaining external modes.

Quantitative Stability of Wasserstein Barycenters over Alexandrov Spaces with Lower Curvature Bounds

We prove quantitative stability estimates for Wasserstein barycenters on Alexandrov spaces with curvature bounded from below. The proof combines the variational strategy of Carlier--Delalande--M\'erigot with heat-kernel regularization, which supplies the regularity needed for dual convexity arguments in this non-smooth curved setting. The main result is an explicit strong-convexity modulus for the barycentric variance functional. As a consequence, barycenters depend H\"older-continuously on the underlying distributions with respect to the $1$-Wasserstein distance on the space of probability measures. We derive empirical-barycenter consistency and entropy-based sample-complexity bounds. Our proof does not rely on linear structure; in particular, the resulting estimates appear to be new even on smooth compact Riemannian manifolds.

Rigidity and Quantitative Stability of the Sliced Wasserstein Deficit

The sliced Wasserstein distance $SW_2(\mu,\nu)$ compares high-dimensional probability measures by averaging one-dimensional optimal transport distances over linear projections. Although sliced Wasserstein distances are now standard computational tools in statistics, imaging, and machine learning, the rigidity behind the elementary comparison \[ SW_2^2(\mu,\nu)\leq \frac1d W_2^2(\mu,\nu) \] has not been systematically studied. Let $\mu,\nu\in\mathcal P_2(\mathbb R^d)$, $d\ge2$, with $\mu\ll\mathcal L^d$, and define the sliced Wasserstein deficit by \[ {\mathrm D}(\mu,\nu):=\frac1d W_2^2(\mu,\nu)-SW_2^2(\mu,\nu)\geq 0. \] We prove that ${\mathrm D}(\mu,\nu)=0$ if and only if the Brenier map $T=\nabla\varphi$ from $\mu$ to $\nu$ is homothetic affine, \[ T(x)=\lambda x+b \qquad \mu\text{-a.e.}, \] for some $\lambda\ge0$ and $b\in \mathbb R^d$. For quantitative stability, we introduce the sliced Poincar\'e--Korn (SPK) constant $\kappa_{\mathrm{SPK}}(\mu)$, defined as an new spectral gap of an averaged ridge-projection quadratic form on gradient fields modulo the family $\{\lambda x+b\}$. Whenever this constant is positive, we prove a stability estimate for the sliced Wasserstein deficit, up to a one-dimensional Lipschitz scale for the projected monotone transports. We obtain the sharp SPK constant for the Gaussian measures as the most important example, and establish positive SPK bounds for bounded perturbations of the Gaussian and compact classes of gradient fields for fixed source measures. Finally, we show that anisotropic Gaussians give a sharp obstruction: neither a Bakry--\'Emery lower curvature bound nor a usual Poincar\'e inequality alone can imply a global sliced Poincar\'e--Korn inequality.

Stability of optimal transport on metric measure spaces

We prove a quantitative stability of Kantorovich potentials on metric measure spaces with lower Ricci curvature bound, thereby confirming a recent conjecture of Kitagawa, Letrouit and M\'erigot. Our proof, which employs the heat kernel-regularized $c$-transform, does not rely on linear structure or sectional curvature bounds. As a corollary, we get a quantitative stability of optimal transport maps on Alexandrov spaces with lower curvature bound.

On the Structure of Busemann Spaces with Non-Negative Curvature

We extend the structure theory of Burago--Gromov--Perelman for Alexandrov spaces with curvature bounded below, to the setting of Busemann spaces with non-negative curvature. We prove that any finite-dimensional Busemann space with non-negative curvature satisfying Ohta's $S$-concavity and local semi-convexity, admits a non-trivial integer-dimensional Hausdorff measure, and satisfies the measure contraction property. We also show that such spaces are rectifiable and that almost every point admits a unique tangent cone isometric to a finite-dimensional Banach space. In addition, under mild control of the uniform smoothness constant, we obtain refined estimates for the Hausdorff dimension of the singular strata. Our results not only enrich the theory of synthetic sectional curvature lower bound for metric spaces, but also provide some useful tools and examples to study Finslerian metric measure spaces.

A new characterization of Sobolev spaces on Lipschitz differentiability spaces

Numerous characterizations of Sobolev norms via the asymptotic behavior of non-local functionals have been established over the past decades; however, their validity beyond the PI framework remains poorly understood. We establish such a characterization on Lipschitz differentiability spaces without assuming either the doubling condition or a Poincar\'e inequality, by proving sharp two-sided Brezis--Van Schaftingen--Yung type asymptotic formulas. We also construct sharp counterexamples revealing the necessity of our assumptions, and provide several examples which are of independent interest.

On the geometry of Wasserstein barycenter I

We study the Wasserstein barycenter problem in the setting of non-compact, non-smooth extended metric measure spaces. We introduce a couple of new concepts and obtain the existence, uniqueness, absolute continuity of the Wasserstein barycenter, and prove Jensen's inequality in an abstract framework. This generalized several results on Euclidean space, Riemannian manifolds and Alexandrov spaces, to metric measure spaces satisfying Riemannian Curvature-Dimension condition \`a la Lott--Sturm--Villani, and some extended metric measure spaces including abstract Wiener spaces and configuration spaces over Riemannian manifolds. We also introduce a new curvature-dimesion condition, we call Barycenter-Curvature-Dimension condition. We prove its stability under measured-Gromov--Hausdorff convergence and prove the existence of the Wasserstein barycenter under this new condition. In addition, we get some geometric inequalities including a multi-marginal Brunn--Minkowski inequality and a functional Blaschke--Santal\'o type inequality.

ABP estimate on metric measure spaces via optimal transport

By using optimal transport theory, we establish a sharp Alexandroff--Bakelman--Pucci (ABP) type estimate on metric measure spaces with synthetic Riemannian Ricci curvature lower bounds, and prove some geometric and functional inequalities including a functional ABP estimate. Our result not only extends the border of ABP estimate, but also provides an effective substitution of Jacobi fields computation in the non-smooth framework, which has potential applications to many problems in non-smooth geometric analysis.

On the asymptotic behaviour of the fractional Sobolev seminorms in metric measure spaces: asymptotic volume ratio, volume entropy and rigidity

We study the asymptotic behaviour of suitably defined seminorms in general metric measure spaces. As a particular case we provide new and shorter proofs of the Maz'ya-Shaposhnikova's theorem on the asymptotic behaviour of the fractional Sobolev $s$-seminorm, in the setting of metric measure spaces and with general mollifiers, as well as of the Ludwig's result on finite dimensional Banach spaces. Our result also provides new spaces satisfying an asymptotic formula and it also builds a link between the asymptotic formula for functions and the asymptotic volume ratio of a metric measure space. In addition, we prove two related rigidity results for metric measure spaces with synthetic Ricci curvature bound which are new even in the smooth setting.

Maz'ya-Shaposhnikova meet Bishop-Gromov

We find a surprising link between Maz'ya-Shaposhnikova's well-known asymptotic formula concerning fractional Sobolev seminorms and the generalized Bishop-Gromov inequality. In the setting of abstract metric measure spaces we prove the validity of a large family of asymptotic formulas concerning non-local energies. Important examples which are covered by our approach are for instance Carnot groups, Riemannian manifolds with Ricci curvature bounded from below and non-collapsed RCD spaces. We also extend the classical Maz'ya-Shaposhnikova's formula on Euclidean spaces to a wider class of mollifiers.
