Odderon effects in the differential cross-sections at Tevatron and LHC energies

In the present paper, we extend the Froissaron-Maximal Odderon (FMO) approach at $t$ different from 0. Our extended FMO approach gives an excellent description of the 3266 experimental points considered in a wide range of energies and momentum transferred. We show that the very interesting TOTEM results for proton-proton differential cross-section in the range 2.76-13 TeV, together with the Tevatron data for antiproton-proton at 1.8 and 1.96 TeV give further experimental evidence for the existence of the Odderon. One spectacular theoretical result is the fact that the difference in the dip-bump region between $\bar pp$ and $pp$ differential cross-sections is diminishing with increasing energies and for very high energies (say 100 TeV), the difference between $\bar pp$ and $pp$ in the dip-bump region is changing its sign: $pp$ becomes bigger than $\bar pp$ at $|t|$ about 1 GeV$^2$. This is a typical Odderon effect. Another important - phenomenological - result of our approach is that the slope in $pp$ scattering has different behavior in $t$ than the slope in $\bar pp$ scattering. This is also a clear Odderon effect.

Odderon: models vs experimental data - a short review of recent papers

The surprising low TOTEM datum $ρ_{pp}$ = 0.09$\pm$0.01 at 13 TeV \cite{TOTEM-1} generated an important flux of papers, which can be classified in three categories: 1) papers which claim that this result is the first experimental discovery of the Odderon, namely in its maximal form; 2) papers which tried, without success, to find alternative explanations of this result; 3) papers which contest the discovery of the Maximal Odderon. In the present short note we discuss two recent papers belonging to the third category.

Did TOTEM experiment discover the Odderon?

The present study shows that the new TOTEM datum $ρ^{pp} = 0.098 \pm 0.01$ can be considered as the first experimental discovery of the Odderon, namely in its maximal form.

Unified Model for Small-t and High-t Scattering at High Energies: Predictions at RHIC and LHC

The urgency of predictions in large-t region at LHC stimulated us to present a unified model of small and high t scattering at high energies. Our model is based upon a safe theoretical ground: analyticity, unitarity, Regge behavior, gluon exchange and saturation of bounds established in axiomatic quantum field theory. We make precise predictions for the behavior of the differential cross sections at high t, the evolution of the dip-shoulder structure localized in the region of -t between 0.5 and 0.8 GeV**2 and the radical violation of the exponential behavior of the first diffraction cone at small t.

The Odderon at RHIC and LHC

The Odderon remains an elusive object, 33 years after its invention. The Odderon is now a fundamental object in QCD and CGC and it has to be found experimentally if QCD and CGC are right. In the present talk, we show how to find it at RHIC and LHC. The most spectacular signature of the Odderon is the predicted difference between the differential cross-sections for proton-proton and antiproton-proton at high s and moderate t. This experiment can be done by using the STAR detector at RHIC and by combining these future data with the already present UA4/2 data. The Odderon could also be found by ATLAS experiment at LHC by performing a high-precision measurement of the real part of the hadron elastic scattering amplitude at small t.

Heisenberg and the Levels of Reality

We first analyze the transdisciplinary model of Reality and its key-concept of "Levels of Reality". We then compare this model with the one elaborated by Werner Heisenberg in 1942.

The Latest on the Sokal Affair: Beyond Three Extremisms

After a short summary of the Sokal Affair and of the point of view of Steven Weinberg, we discuss certain aspects of the scientist ideology present in the last book of Alan Sokal "Pesudoscience ans Postmodernism: Antagonists or Fellow-Travellers?", published in France. The danger of the three extremisms present in our time - relativist extremism, scientist extremism and its mirror-image, the religious extremism - is underlined. We point out also the necessity of a transdisciplinary dialogue between the different disciplines as a rampart against the fascination caused by these three extremisms.

Analytic Amplitudes for Hadronic Forward Scattering and the Heisenberg ln**2 Behaviour of Total Cross Section

The ln**2 behaviour of total cross sections, first obtained by Heisenberg 50 years ago, receives now increased interest both on phenomenological and theoretical levels. We present a modification of the Heisenberg's model in connection with the presence of glueballs and we show that it leads to a realistic description of all existing hadron total cross-section data, in agreement with the COMPETE analysis.

Levels of Reality as Source of Quantum Indeterminacy

We show that the notion of "levels of Reality" introduced by Werner Heisenberg in his "Manuscript of 1942" (1984) and by myself (1983-1985) could explain the quantum indeterminacy. General epistemological implications of this notion are also studied.

The Two-Component Non-Perturbative Pomeron and the G-Universality

In this communication we present a generalization of the Donnachie-Landshoff model inspired by the recent discovery of a 2-component Pomeron in LLA-QCD by Bartels, Lipatov and Vacca. In particular, we explore a new property, not present in the usual Regge theory - the G-Universality - which signifies the independence of one of the Pomeron components on the nature of the initial and final hadrons. The best description of all the forward hadron-hadron, gamma- gamma and gamma-proton data is obtained when G-universailty is imposed. Moreover, the maximal (ln)**2 behaviour of the hadron amplitude, first established by Heisenberg, is clearly favoured by the data.

A Possible Two-Component Structure of the Non-Perturbative Pomeron

We propose a QCD-inspired two-component Pomeron form which gives an excellent description of the proton-proton, pi-proton, kaon-proton, gamma-proton and gamma-gamma total cross sections. Our fit has a better CHI2/dof for a smaller number of parameters as compared with the PDG fit. Our 2-Pomeron form is fully compatible with weak Regge exchange-degeneracy, universality, Regge factorization and the generalized vector dominance model.
