Measurements of the branching fractions of $Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK_S^0$, $Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^0 K_S^0$, and $Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^+ K^-$ decays at Belle

Using the entire data sample of $980\mathrm{~fb}^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider, we present measurements of the branching fractions of the Cabibbo-favored decays $Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK_S^0$, $Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^0 K_S^0$, and $Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^+ K^-$. Taking the decay $Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- \pip$ as the normalization mode, we measure the branching fraction ratio ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK_S^0)/{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+) = 0.229\pm0.008\pm0.012$ with improved precision, and measure the branching fraction ratios ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^0 K_S^0)/{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+) = 0.038\pm0.006\pm0.004$ and ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^+ K^-)/{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+) = 0.123\pm0.007\pm0.010$ for the first time. Taking into account the branching fraction of the normalization mode, the absolute branching fractions are determined to be ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK_S^0) = (3.27\pm0.11\pm0.17\pm0.73) \times 10^{-3}$, ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^0 K_S^0) = (0.54\pm 0.09\pm 0.06\pm 0.12) \times 10^{-3}$, and ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^+ K^-) = (1.76\pm 0.10\pm0.14\pm 0.39) \times 10^{-3}$. The first and second uncertainties above are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise from the uncertainty of the branching fraction of $Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+$.

Search for the $B \to Y(4260) K, ~Y(4260) \to J/ψπ^+π^-$ decays

We report the results of a search for the $B \to Y(4260) K, ~Y(4260)\to J/ψπ^+π^-$ decays. This study is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 711~fb$^{-1}$, collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. We investigate the $J/ψπ^+π^-$ invariant mass distribution in the range 4.0 to 4.6 GeV/$c^2$ using both $B^+ \to J/ψπ^+π^- K^+$ and $B^0 \to J/ψπ^+π^- K^0_S$ decays. We find excesses of events above the background levels, with a significances of 2.1 and 0.9 standard deviations for charged and neutral $B \to Y(4260) K$ decays, respectively, taking into account the systematic uncertainties. These correspond to upper limits on the product of branching fractions, ${\cal B}(B^+ \to Y(4260) K^+) \times {\cal B}(Y(4260) \to J/ψπ^+ π^-) <1.4 \times 10^{-5}$ and ${\cal B}(B^0 \to Y(4260) K^0) \times {\cal B}(Y(4260) \to J/ψπ^+ π^-) <1.7 \times 10^{-5}$ at the 90\% confidence level.

Observation of $Ξ(1620)^0$ and evidence for $Ξ(1690)^0$ in $Ξ_c^+ \rightarrow Ξ^-π^+π^+$ decays

We report the first observation of the doubly-strange baryon $Ξ(1620)^0$ in its decay to $Ξ^-π^+$ via $Ξ_c^+ \rightarrow Ξ^- π^+ π^+$ decays based on a $980\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. The mass and width are measured to be 1610.4 $\pm$ 6.0 (stat) $^{+5.9}_{-3.5}$ (syst)~MeV$/c^2$ and 59.9 $\pm$ 4.8 (stat) $^{+2.8}_{-3.0}$ (syst)~MeV, respectively. We obtain 4.0$σ$ evidence of the $Ξ(1690)^0$ with the same data sample. These results shed light on the structure of hyperon resonances with strangeness $S=-2$.

Search for B decays to final states with the eta_c meson

We report a search for $B$ decays to selected final states with the $η_c$ meson: $B^{\pm}\to K^{\pm}η_cπ^+π^-$, $B^{\pm}\to K^{\pm}η_cω$, $B^{\pm}\to K^{\pm}η_cη$ and $B^{\pm}\to K^{\pm}η_cπ^0$. The analysis is based on $772\times 10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. We set 90\% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions of the studied $B$ decay modes, independent of intermediate resonances, in the range $(0.6-5.3)\times 10^{-4}$. We also search for molecular-state candidates in the $D^0\bar{D}^{*0}-\bar{D}^0D^{*0}$, $D^0\bar{D}^0+\bar{D}^0D^0$ and $D^{*0}\bar{D}^{*0}+\bar{D}^{*0}D^{*0}$ combinations, neutral partners of the $Z(3900)^{\pm}$ and $Z(4020)^{\pm}$, and a poorly understood state $X(3915)$ as possible intermediate states in the decay chain, and set 90\% confidence level upper limits on the product of branching fractions to the mentioned intermediate states and decay branching fractions of these states in the range $(0.6-6.9)\times 10^{-5}$.

First Measurement of phi_3 with a Model-independent Dalitz Plot Analysis of B->DK, D->KsPiPi Decay

We present the first measurement of the angle phi_3 of the Unitarity Triangle using a model-independent Dalitz plot analysis of B->DK, D->KsPiPi decays. The method uses an input measurements of the strong phase of the D->KsPiPi amplitude from the CLEO collaboration. The result is based on the full data set of 772x10^6 BBbar pairs collected by the Belle experiment at the Upsilon(4S) resonance. We obtain phi_3 = (77.3^{+15.1}_{-14.9} +- 4.1 +- 4.3)^{\circ} and the suppressed amplitude ratio r_B = 0.145 +- 0.030 +- 0.010 +- 0.011. Here the first error is statistical, the second is the experimental systematic uncertainty, and the third is the error due to the precision of the strong-phase parameters obtained by CLEO.

Search for B -> phi pi decays

We report on a search for the charmless decays $B^{+} \toϕπ^{+}$ and $B^{0} \toϕπ^{0}$ that are strongly suppressed in the Standard Model. The analysis is based on a data sample of $657 \times 10^6$ $B \bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. We find no significant signal and set upper limits of $3.3 \times 10^{-7}$ for $B^{+} \to ϕπ^{+}$ and $1.5 \times 10^{-7}$ for $B^0 \to ϕπ^0$ at the 90% confidence level.

Study of B^{+-} -> K^{+-}(K_S K pi)^0 Decay and Determination of eta_c and eta_c(2S) Parameters

We report the results of a study of $B^{\pm}\to K^{\pm}η_c$ and $B^{\pm}\to K^{\pm}η_c(2S)$ decays followed by $η_c$ and $η_c(2S)$ decays to $(K_SKπ)^0$. The results are obtained from a data sample containing 535 million $B\bar{B}$-meson pairs collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. We measure the products of the branching fractions ${\mathcal B}(B^{\pm}\to K^{\pm}η_c){\mathcal B}(η_c\to K_S K^{\pm}π^{\mp})=(26.7\pm 1.4(stat)^{+2.9}_{-2.6}(syst)\pm 4.9(model))\times 10^{-6}$ and ${\mathcal B}(B^{\pm}\to K^{\pm}η_c(2S)){\mathcal B}(η_c(2S)\to K_S K^{\pm}π^{\mp})=(3.4^{+2.2}_{-1.5}(stat+model)^{+0.5}_{-0.4} syst))\times 10^{-6}$. Interference with the non-resonant component leads to significant model uncertainty in the measurement of these product branching fractions. Our analysis accounts for this interference and allows the model uncertainty to be reduced. We also obtain the following charmonia masses and widths: $M(η_c)=(2985.4\pm 1.5(stat)^{+0.5}_{-2.0}(syst))$ MeV/$c^2$, $Γ(η_c)=(35.1\pm 3.1(stat)^{+1.0}_{-1.6}(syst))$ MeV/$c^2$, $M(η_c(2S))=(3636.1^{+3.9}_{-4.2}(stat+model)^{+0.7}_{-2.0}(syst))$ MeV/$c^2$, $Γ(η_c(2S))=(6.6^{+8.4}_{-5.1}(stat+model)^{+2.6}_{-0.9}(syst))$ MeV/$c^2$.

Study of X(3872) in $B$ meson decays

We present results on the X(3872), produced in $B^+ \to X(3872) K^+$ and $B^0 \to X(3872) K^0_S$ decays where $X(3872) \to J/ψπ^+ π^-$. We report the first statistically significant observation of $B^0 \to X(3872) K^0_S$ and measure the ratio of branching fractions to be $\frac{{\cal B}(B^0 \to X(3872)K^0)} {{\cal B}(B^+ \to X(3872)K^+)} = 0.82 \pm 0.22 \pm 0.05$, consistent with unity. The mass difference between the X(3872) states produced in $B^+$ and $B^0$ decay is found to be $δM \equiv M_{XK^+} - M_{XK^0} = (+0.18 \pm 0.89 \pm 0.26)$ MeV/$c^2$, consistent with zero. In addition, we search for the X(3872) in the decay $B^0 \to X(3872)K^+π^-$, $X(3872) \to J/ψπ^+ π^-$. We measure ${\cal B}(B^0 \to X(3872) (K^+ π^-)_{NR}) \times {\cal B}(X(3872) \to J/ψπ^+ π^-) = (8.1 \pm 2.0 ^{+1.1}_{-1.4})\times 10^{-6}$ and we set the 90% C.L. limit, ${\cal B}(B^0 \to X(3872)K^{*}(892)^0) \times {\cal B}(X(3872) \to J/ψπ^+ π^-) < 3.4 \times 10^{-6}$. The analysis is based on a 605 fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected at the $Υ(4S)$ with the Belle detector at the KEKB collider.

Study of intermediate two-body decays in $\bar{B}^0\to Σ_c(2455)^{0}\bar{p}π^{+}$

We present results of a detailed study of the three-body $\bar{B}^0\toΣ_c(2455)^{0}\bar{p}π^{+}$ decay. A significant enhancement of signal events is observed in the $\bar{p}π^+$ mass system near $1.5 {\rm GeV}/c^2$ that is consistent with the presence of an intermediate baryonic resonance $\bar{N}^0$, where $\bar{N}^0$ is the $\bar{N}(1440)^0 P_{11}$ or $\bar{N}(1535)^0 S_{11}$ state, or an admixture of the two states. We measure the product ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^0\toΣ_c(2455)^{0}\bar{N}^0)\times{\cal B}(\bar{N}^0\to\bar{p}π^+)$= ($0.80\pm0.15\rm{(stat.)}\pm0.14\rm{(syst.)}\pm0.21$)$\times10^{-4}$, where the last error is due to the uncertainty in ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+\to p K^-π^+)$. The significance of the signal is 6.1 standard deviations. This analysis is based on a data sample of 357 fb$^{-1}$, accumulated at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider.

Search for the Electric Dipole Moment of the tau Lepton

We have searched for a CP violation signature arising from an electric dipole moment (d_tau) of the tau lepton in the e+e- -> tau+tau- reaction. Using an optimal observable method and 29.5 fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB collider at sqrt{s} = 10.58 GeV, we find Re(d_tau) = (1.15 +- 1.70) x 10^{-17} ecm and Im(d_tau) = (-0.83 +- 0.86) x 10^{-17} ecm and set the 95% confidence level limits -2.2 < Re(d_tau) < 4.5 (10^{-17}ecm) and -2.5 < Im(d_tau) < 0.8 (10^{-17}ecm).

Search for the Electric Dipole Moment of the tau lepton

We have searched for a T/CP violation signature arising from an electric dipole form factor (d_tau) of the tau lepton in the e+e- -> tau+tau- reaction. Using an optimal observable method for 29.5 fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB collider at sqrt{s}=10.58 GeV, we obtained the preliminary result Re(d_tau) = (1.15 +- 1.70) x 10^{-17} ecm and Im(d_tau) = (-0.83 +- 0.86) x 10^{-17} ecm for the real and imaginary parts of d_tau, respectively, and set the 95% confidence level limits -2.2 < Re(d_tau) < 4.5 (10^{-17} ecm) and -2.5 < Im(d_tau) < 0.8 (10^{-17} ecm).

Search for Lepton Flavor-Violating "tau -> mu gamma" decay

We search for the lepton flavor-violating "tau -> mu gamma" decay using 29.7 million tau pairs accumulated by the Belle experiment. The main background sources are found to be tau pairs with "tau -> mu nu nu" decay and radiative dimuon events. One event is observed in the signal region, while 2.5 +- 0.6 background events are expected. A preliminary upper limit Br(tau -> mu gamma) < 6 x 10^{-7} at the 90% confidence limit is obtained.

Precise Measurement of B Meson Lifetimes with Hadronic Decay Final States

The lifetimes of the B0bar and B- mesons are extracted from 29.1/fb of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEK B-factory. A fit to the decay length differences of neutral and charged B meson pairs, measured in events where one of the B mesons is fully reconstructed in several hadronic modes, yields tau_B0bar = 1.554 +/- 0.030(stat) +/- 0.019(syst) ps, tau_B- = 1.695 +/- 0.026(stat) +/- 0.015(syst) ps, and tau_B-/tau_B0bar = 1.091 +/- 0.023(stat) +/- 0.014(syst).
