A finite element approximation for the stochastic Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation

The stochastic Landau--Lifshitz--Gilbert (LLG) equation describes the behaviour of the magnetization under the influence of the effective field consisting of random fluctuations. We first reformulate the equation into an equation the unknown of which is differentiable with respect to the time variable. We then propose a convergent $θ$-linear scheme for the numerical solution of the reformulated equation. As a consequence, we show the existence of weak martingale solutions to the stochastic LLG equation. A salient feature of this scheme is that it does not involve a nonlinear system, and that no condition on time and space steps is required when $θ\in(\frac{1}{2},1]$. Numerical results are presented to show the applicability of the method.

Exponential ergodicity of semilinear equations driven by Lévy processes in Hilbert spaces

We study convergence to the invariant measure for a class of semilinear stochastic evolution equations driven by Lévy noise, including the case of cylindrical noise. For a certain class of equations we prove the exponential rate of convergence in the norm of total variation. Our general result is applied to a number of specific equations driven by cylindrical symmetric $α$-stable noise and/or cylindrical Wiener noise. We also consider the case of a "singular" Wiener process with unbounded covariance operator. In particular, in the equation with diagonal pure $α$-stable cylindrical noise introduced by Priola and Zabczyk we generalize results in [12]. In the proof we use an idea of Maslowski and Seidler from [10].

The Ornstein Uhlenbeck Bridge and Applications to Markov Semigroups

For an arbitrary Hilbert space-valued Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process we construct the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck Bridge connecting a starting point $x$ and an endpoint $y$ that belongs to a certain linear subspace of full measure. We derive also a stochastic evolution equation satisfied by the OU Bridge and study its basic properties. The OU Bridge is then used to investigate the Markov transition semigroup associated to a nonlinear stochastic evolution equation with additive noise. We provide an explicit formula for the transition density and study its regularity. Given the Strong Feller property and the existence of an invariant measure we show that the transition semigroup maps $L^p$ functions into continuous functions. We also show that transition operators are $q$-summing for some $q>p>1$, in particular of Hilbert-Schmidt type.

Uniform exponential ergodicity of stochastic dissipative systems

We study ergodic properties of stochastic dissipative systems with additive noise. We show that the system is uniformly exponentially ergodic provided the growth of nonlinearity at infinity is faster than linear. The abstract result is applied to the stochastic reaction diffusion equation in $\mathbb R^d$ with $d\le 3$.

Ergodicity of Stochastically Forced Large Scale Geophysical Flows

We investigate the ergodicity of 2D large scale quasigeostrophic flows under random wind forcing. We show that the quasigeostrophic flows are ergodic under suitable conditions on the random forcing and on the fluid domain, and under no restrictions on viscosity, Ekman constant or Coriolis parameter. When these conditions are satisfied, then for any observable of the quasigeostrophic flows, its time average approximates the statistical ensemble average, as long as the time interval is sufficiently long.
