Quandles as pre-Lie skew braces, set-theoretic Hopf algebras & universal R-matrices

We present connections between left non-degenerate solutions of the set-theoretic braid equation and left shelves using Drinfel'd homomorphisms. We generalize the notion of affine quandle, by using heap endomorphisms and metahomomorphisms, and identify the underlying Yang-Baxter algebra for solutions of the braid equation associated to a given quandle. We introduce the notion of the pre-Lie skew brace and identify certain affine quandles that give rise to pre-Lie skew braces. Generalisations of the braiding of a group, associated to set-theoretic solutions of the braid equation are also presented. These generalized structures encode part of the underlying Hopf algebra. We then introduce the quasi-triangular (quasi) Hopf algebras and universal R-matrices for rack and set-theoretic algebras. Generic set-theoretic solutions coming from heap endomorphisms are also identified.

Heaps of modules: Categorical aspects

Connections between heaps of modules and (affine) modules over rings are explored. This leads to explicit, often constructive, descriptions of some categorical constructions and properties that are implicit in universal algebra and algebraic theories. In particular, it is shown that the category of groups with a compatible action of a truss T (also called pointed T-modules) is isomorphic to the category of modules over the ring R(T) universally associated to the truss. This is widely used in the explicit description of free objects. Next, it is proven that the category of heaps of modules over T is isomorphic to the category of affine modules over R(T) and, in order to make the picture complete, that (in the unital case) these are in turn equivalent to a specific subcategory of the slice category of pointed T-modules over R(T). These correspondences and properties are then used to describe explicitly various (co)limits and to compare short exact sequences in the Barr-exact category of heaps of T-modules with short exact sequences as defined previously.

Near braces and p-deformed braided groups

Motivated by recent findings on the derivation of parametric non-involutive solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation we reconstruct the underlying algebraic structures, called near braces. Using the notion of the near braces we produce new multi-parametric, non-degenerate, non-involutive solutions of the set-theoretic Yang-Baxter equation. These solutions are generalisations of the known ones coming from braces and skew braces. Bijective maps associated to the inverse solutions are also constructed. Furthermore, we introduce the generalized notion of p-deformed braided groups and p-braidings and we show that every p-braiding is a solution of the braid equation. We also show that certain multi-parametric maps within the near braces provide special cases of p-braidings.

Novel non-involutive solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation from (skew) braces

We produce novel non-involutive solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation coming from (skew) braces. These solutions are generalisations of the known ones coming from braces and skew braces, and surprisingly in the case of braces they are not necessarily involutive. In the case of two-sided (skew) braces one can assign such solutions to every element of the set. Novel bijective maps associated to the inverse solutions are also introduced. Moreover, we show that the recently derived Drinfeld twists of the involutive case are still admissible in the non-involutive frame and we identify the twisted $r$-matrices and twisted coproducts. We observe, as in the involutive case that the underlying quantum algebra is not a quasi-triangular bialgebra, as one would expect, but a quasi-triangular quasi-bialgebra. The same applies to the quantum algebra of the twisted $r$-matrices, contrary to the involutive case.
