Higher-order corrections to Higgs-boson decays

We review the status of radiative corrections to the decay rates of the Standard-Model Higgs boson in the mass range accessible at LEP~2. Specifically, we consider corrections of ${\cal O}(α)$, ${\cal O}(α_sG_Fm_t^2)$, and ${\cal O}(G_F^2M_H^4)$ to the fermionic decay rates and two-loop QCD corrections to the hadronic decay rates.

Two-Loop ${\cal O}(α_sG_Fm_t^2)$ Corrections to the Fermionic Decay Rates of the Standard-Model Higgs Boson

Low- and intermediate mass Higgs bosons decay preferably into fermion pairs. The one-loop electroweak corrections to the respective decay rates are dominated by a flavour-independent term of ${\cal O}(G_Fm_t^2)$. We calculate the two-loop gluon correction to this term. It turns out that this correction screens the leading high-$m_t$ behaviour of the one-loop result by roughly 10\%. We also present the two-loop QCD correction to the contribution induced by a pair of fourth-generation quarks with arbitrary masses. As expected, the inclusion of the QCD correction considerably reduces the renormalization-scheme dependence of the prediction.

Production and decay of the Standard Model Higgs Bososn at LEP200

We collect and update theoretical predictions for the production rate and decay branching fractions of the Standard Model Higgs boson that will be relevant for the Higgs search at LEP200. We make full use of the present knowledge of radiative corrections. We estimate the systematics arising from theoretical and experimental uncertainties.

Observations Concerning the Magnitude of t \bar{t} Threshold Effects on Electroweak Parameters

We discuss a recent analysis of $t\bar{t}$ threshold effects and its implications for the determination of electroweak parameters. We show that the new formulation, when applied to the $ρ$ parameter for $m_t\approx158$~GeV, gives a result of similar magnitude to those previously obtained. In fact, it is quite close to our ``resonance'' calculation. We also present a simple estimate of the size of the threshold effects based on an elementary Bohr-atom model of $t\bar{t}$ resonances.
