Periodicities of T and Y-systems, dilogarithm identities, and cluster algebras I: Type B_r

We prove the periodicities of the restricted T and Y-systems associated with the quantum affine algebra of type B_r at any level. We also prove the dilogarithm identities for the Y-systems of type B_r at any level. Our proof is based on the tropical Y-systems and the categorification of the cluster algebra associated with any skew-symmetric matrix by Plamondon. Using this new method, we also give an alternative and simplified proof of the periodicities of the T and Y-systems associated with pairs of simply laced Dynkin diagrams.

Categorification of acyclic cluster algebras: an introduction

This is a concise introduction to Fomin-Zelevinsky's cluster algebras and their links with the representation theory of quivers in the acyclic case. We review the definition of cluster algebras (geometric, without coefficients), construct the cluster category and present the bijection between cluster variables and rigid indecomposable objects of the cluster category.

Cluster algebras, quiver representations and triangulated categories

This is an introduction to some aspects of Fomin-Zelevinsky's cluster algebras and their links with the representation theory of quivers and with Calabi-Yau triangulated categories. It is based on lectures given by the author at summer schools held in 2006 (Bavaria) and 2008 (Jerusalem). In addition to by now classical material, we present the outline of a proof of the periodicity conjecture for pairs of Dynkin diagrams (details will appear elsewhere) and recent results on the interpretation of mutations as derived equivalences.

Algèbres amassées et applications

Sergey Fomin and Andrei Zelevinsky have invented cluster algebras at the beginning of this decade with the aim of creating an algebraic framework for the study of canonical bases in quantum groups and total positivity in algebraic groups. It soon turned out that the combinatorics of cluster algebras also appear in many other subjects and notably in the representation theory of quivers and finite-dimensional algebras. In this talk, we give a concise introduction to cluster algebras and sketch two significant applications concerning the study of certain discrete dynamical systems and the construction of dual semicanonical bases.

Derived equivalences from mutations of quivers with potential

We show that Derksen-Weyman-Zelevinsky's mutations of quivers with potential yield equivalences of suitable 3-Calabi-Yau triangulated categories. Our approach is related to that of Iyama-Reiten and Koszul dual to that of Kontsevich-Soibelman. It improves on previous work by Vitoria. In the appendix, the first-named author studies pseudo-compact derived categories of certain pseudo-compact dg algebras.

On two examples by Iyama and Yoshino

In the recent paper "Mutation in triangulated categories and rigid Cohen-Macaulay modules" Iyama and Yoshino consider two interesting examples of isolated singularities over which it is possible to classify the indecomposable maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules in terms of linear algebra data. In this paper we present two new approaches to these examples. In the first approach we give a relation with cluster categories. In the second approach we use Orlov's result on the graded singularity category. We obtain some new results on the singularity category of isolated singularities which may be interesting in their own right.

Deformed Calabi-Yau Completions

We define and investigate deformed n-Calabi-Yau completions of homologically smooth differential graded (=dg) categories. Important examples are: deformed preprojective algebras of connected non Dynkin quivers, Ginzburg dg algebras associated to quivers with potentials and dg categories associated to the category of coherent sheaves on the canonical bundle of a smooth variety. We show that deformed Calabi-Yau completions do have the Calabi-Yau property and that their construction is compatible with derived equivalences and with localizations. In particular, Ginzburg dg algebras have the Calabi-Yau property. We show that deformed 3-Calabi-Yau completions of algebras of global dimension at most 2 are quasi-isomorphic to Ginzburg dg algebras and apply this to the study of cluster-tilted algebras and to the construction of derived equivalences associated to mutations of quivers with potentials. In the appendix, Michel Van den Bergh uses non commutative differential geometry to give an alternative proof of the fact that Ginzburg dg algebras have the Calabi-Yau property.

On the (non)vanishing of some "derived" categories of curved dg algebras

Since curved dg algebras, and modules over them, have differentials whose square is not zero, these objects have no cohomology, and there is no classical derived category. For different purposes, different notions of "derived" categories have been introduced in the literature. In this note, we show that for some concrete curved dg algebras, these derived categories vanish. This happens for example for the initial curved dg algebra whose module category is the category of precomplexes, and for certain deformations of dg algebras.

On cluster algebras with coefficients and 2-Calabi-Yau categories

Building on work by Geiss-Leclerc-Schroer and by Buan-Iyama-Reiten-Scott we investigate the link between certain cluster algebras with coefficients and suitable 2-Calabi-Yau categories. These include the cluster-categories associated with acyclic quivers and certain Frobenius subcategories of module categories over preprojective algebras. Our motivation comes from the conjectures formulated by Fomin and Zelevinsky in `Cluster algebras IV: Coefficients'. We provide new evidence for Conjectures 5.4, 6.10, 7.2, 7.10 and 7.12 and show by an example that the statement of Conjecture 7.17 does not always hold.

On the combinatorics of rigid objects in 2-Calabi-Yau categories

Given a triangulated 2-Calabi-Yau category C and a cluster-tilting subcategory T, the index of an object X of C is a certain element of the Grothendieck group of the additive category T. In this note, we show that a rigid object of C is determined by its index, that the indices of the indecomposables of a cluster-tilting subcategory T' form a basis of the Grothendieck group of T and that, if T and T' are related by a mutation, then the indices with respect to T and T' are related by a certain piecewise linear transformation introduced by Fomin and Zelevinsky in their study of cluster algebras with coefficients. This allows us to give a combinatorial construction of the indices of all rigid objects reachable from the given cluster-tilting subcategory T. Conjecturally, these indices coincide with Fomin-Zelevinsky's g-vectors.

Cluster tilting for one-dimensional hypersurface singularities

In this article we study Cohen-Macaulay modules over one-dimensional hypersurface singularities and the relationship with the representation theory of associative algebras using methods of cluster tilting theory. We give a criterion for existence of cluster tilting objects and their complete description by homological methods, using higher almost split sequences and results from birational geometry. We obtain a large class of 2-CY tilted algebras which are finite dimensional symmetric and satisfy $τ^2=\id$. In particular, we compute 2-CY tilted algebras for simple and minimally elliptic curve singularities.

Acyclic Calabi-Yau categories

We show that an algebraic 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated category over an algebraically closed field is a cluster category if it contains a cluster tilting subcategory whose quiver has no oriented cycles. We prove a similar characterization for higher cluster categories. As a first application, we show that the stable category of maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over a certain isolated singularity of dimension three is a cluster category. As a second application, we prove the non-acyclicity of the quivers of endomorphism algebras of cluster-tilting objects in the stable categories of representation-infinite preprojective algebras. In the appendix, Michel Van den Bergh gives an alternative proof of the main theorem by appealing to the universal property of the triangulated orbit category.

Equalizers in the category of cocomplete cocategories

We prove existence of equalizers in certain categories of cocomplete cocategories. This allows us to complete the proof of the fact that A-infinity functor categories arise as internal Hom-objects in the category of differential graded cocomplete augmented cocategories.

Bounded derived categories and repetitive algebras

By a theorem due to the first author, the bounded derived category of a finite-dimensional algebra over a field embeds fully faithfully into the stable category over its repetitive algebra. This embedding is an equivalence iff the algebra is of finite global dimension. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between the derived category and the stable category over the repetitive algebra from various points of view for algebras of infinite global dimension. The most satisfactory results are obtained for Gorenstein algebras, especially for selfinjective algebras.

Cluster-tilted algebras are Gorenstein and stably Calabi-Yau

We prove that in a 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated category, each cluster tilting subcategory is Gorenstein with all its finitely generated projectives of injective dimension at most one. We show that the stable category of its Cohen-Macaulay modules is 3-Calabi-Yau. We deduce in particular that cluster-tilted algebras are Gorenstein of dimension at most one, and hereditary if they are of finite global dimension. Our results also apply to the stable (!) endomorphism rings of maximal rigid modules of Geiss-Leclerc-Schroer. In addition, we prove a general result about relative 3-Calabi-Yau duality over non stable endomorphism rings. This strengthens and generalizes the Ext-group symmetries obtained by Geiss-Leclerc-Schroer for simple modules. Finally, we generalize the results on relative Calabi-Yau duality from 2-Calabi-Yau to d-Calabi-Yau categories. We show how to produce many examples of d-cluster tilted algebras.
