Tomiyama-type maps with a diagonal perturbation

We investigate a two-parameter family of linear maps on matrix algebras, constructed as diagonal perturbations of classical Tomiyama maps. Employing the Choi matrix method alongside block-positivity techniques, we derive explicit necessary and sufficient conditions for positivity, complete positivity, and k-positivity across arbitrary dimensions. These conditions provide a transparent geometric characterization of the positivity regions within the parameter space.

A study on Heisenberg-Weyl linear maps

Heisenberg-Weyl operators provide a Hermitian generalization of Pauli operators in higher dimensions. Positive maps arising from Heisenberg-Weyl operators have been studied along with several algebraic and spectral properties of Heisenberg-Weyl observables. This allows to generalize the study of Pauli type maps in higher dimesional algebra of operators.

Infinite dimensional dynamical maps

Completely positive trace preserving maps are widely used in quantum information theory. These are mostly studied using the master equation perspective. A central part in this theory is to study whether a given system of dynamical maps $\{Λ_t: t \ge 0\}$ is Markovian or non-Markovian. We study the problem when the underlying Hilbert space is of infinite dimensional. We construct a sufficient condition for checking P (resp. CP) divisibility of dynamical maps. We construct several examples where the underlying Hilbert space may not be of finite dimensional. We also give a special emphasis on Gaussian dynamical maps and get a version of our result in it.

A class of Schwarz qubit maps with diagonal unitary and orthogonal symmetries

A class of unital qubit maps displaying diagonal unitary and orthogonal symmetries is analyzed. Such maps already found a lot applications in quantum information theory. We provide a complete characterization of this class of maps showing intricate relation between positivity, operator Schwarz inequality, and complete positivity. Finally, it is shown how to generalize the entire picture beyond unital case (so called generalized Schwarz maps). Interestingly, the first example of Schwarz but not completely positive map found by Choi belongs to our class. As a case study we provide a full characterization of Pauli maps. Our analysis leads to generalization of seminal Fujiwara-Algoet conditions for Pauli quantum channels.

Measurement incompatibility and quantum advantage in communication

Measurement incompatibility stipulates the existence of quantum measurements that cannot be carried out simultaneously on single systems. We show that the set of input-output probabilities obtained from d-dimensional classical systems assisted with shared randomness is the same as the set obtained from d-dimensional quantum strategies restricted to compatible measurements with shared randomness in any communication scenario. Thus, measurement incompatibility is necessary for quantum advantage in communication, and any quantum advantage (with or without shared randomness) in communication acts as a witness to the incompatibility of the measurements at the receiver's end in a semi-device-independent way. We introduce a class of communication tasks - a general version of random access codes - to witness incompatibility of an arbitrary number of quantum measurements with arbitrary outcomes acting on d-dimensional systems, and provide generic upper bounds on the success metric of these tasks for compatible measurements. We identify all sets of three incompatible rank-one projective qubit measurements that random access codes can witness. Finally, we present the generic relationship between different sets of probability distributions - classical, quantum with or without shared randomness, and quantum restricted to compatible measurements with or without shared randomness - produced in communication scenarios.

Detecting entanglement harnessing Lindblad structure

The problem of entanglement detection is a long standing problem in quantum information theory. One of the primary procedures of detecting entanglement is to find the suitable positive but non-completely positive maps. Here we try to give a generic prescription to construct a positive map that can be useful for such scenarios. We study a class of positive maps arising from Lindblad structures. We show that two famous positive maps viz. transposition and Choi map can be obtained as a special case of a class of positive maps having Lindblad structure. Generalizing the transposition map to a one parameter family we have used it to detect genuine multipartite entanglement. Finally being motivated by the negativity of entanglement, we have defined a similar measure for genuine multipartite entanglement.

Non-Markovianity and entanglement detection

We have established a novel method to detect non-Markovian indivisible quantum channels using structural physical approximation. We have shown that this method can be used to detect eternal non -Markovian operations. We have further established that harnessing eternal non-Markovianity, we can device a protocol to detect quantum entanglement.

Generating and detecting bound entanglement in two-qutrits using a family of indecomposable positive maps

The problem of bound entanglement detection is a challenging aspect of quantum information theory for higher dimensional systems. Here, we propose an indecomposable positive map for two-qutrit systems, which is shown to generate a class of positive partial transposed (PPT) states. A corresponding witness operator is constructed and shown to be weakly optimal and locally implementable. Further, we perform a structural physical approximation of the indecomposable map to make it a completely positive one, and find a new PPT entangled state which is not detectable by certain other well-known entanglement detection criteria.

Environmental effects on nonlocal correlations

Environmental interactions are ubiquitous in practical instances of any quantum information processing protocol. The interaction results in depletion of various quantum resources and even complete loss in numerous situations. Nonlocality, which is one particular quantum resource marking a significant departure of quantum mechanics from classical mechanics, meets the same fate. In the present work we study the decay in nonlocality to the extent of the output state admitting a local hidden state model. Using some fundamental quantum channels we also demonstrate the complete decay in the resources in the purview of the Bell-CHSH inequality and a 3-settings steering inequality. We also obtain bounds on the parameter of the depolarizing map for which it becomes steerability breaking pertaining to a general class of two qubit states.

Thermodynamic utility of Non-Markovianity from the perspective of resource interconversion

We establish a connection between non-Markovianity and negative entropy production rate for various classes of quantum operations. We analyse several aspects of unital and thermal operations in connection with resource theories of purity and thermodynamics. We fully characterize Lindblad operators corresponding to unital operations. We also characterize the Lindblad dynamics for a large class of thermal operations. We next generalize the definition of the entropy production rate for the non-equilibrium case to connect it with the rate of change of free energy of the system, and establish complementary relations between non-Markovianity and maximum loss of free energy. We naturally conclude that non-Markovianity in terms of divisibility breaking is a necessary resource for the backflow of other resources like purity or free energy under the corresponding allowed operations.

Convex resource theory of non-Markovianity

We establish a convex resource theory of non-Markovianity under the constraint of small time intervals within the temporal evolution. We construct the free operations, free states and a generalized bona-fide measure of non-Markovianity. The framework satisfies the basic properties of a consistent resource theory. The proposed resource quantifier is lower bounded by the optimization free Rivas-Huelga-Plenio (RHP) measure of nonMarkovianity. We further define the robustness of non-Markovianity and show that it can directly be expressed as a function of the RHP measure of non-Markovianity. This enables a physical interpretation of the RHP measure.

Characterization of the quantumness of unsteerable tripartite correlations

Quantumness for a bipartite unsteerable quantum correlation is operationally characterized by the notion of super-unsteerability. Super-unsteerability refers to the requirement of a larger dimension of the random variable that the steering party has to preshare with the party to be steered in the classical simulation protocol to generate an unsteerable correlation than the local Hilbert space dimension of the quantum states (reproducing the given unsteerable correlation) at the steering party's side. In the present study, this concept of super-unsteerability is generalized by defining the notion of super-bi-unsteerability for tripartite correlations, which is unsteerable across a bipartite cut. Genuine super-bi-unsteerability is defined as the occurrence of super-bi-unsteerability across all possible bipartite cuts. Specific example of genuine super-bi-unsteerability for tripartite correlations has been presented. This study provides a tool to characterize the genuine quantumness of tripartite quantum correlations which are unsteerable across every bipartite cut.

One-sided Device-independent Self-testing of any Pure Two-qubit Entangled State

We consider the problem of $1$-sided device-independent self-testing of any pure entangled two-qubit state based on steering inequalities which certify the presence of quantum steering. In particular, we note that in the $2-2-2$ steering scenario (involving $2$ parties, $2$ measurement settings per party, $2$ outcomes per measurement setting), the maximal violation of a fine-grained steering inequality can be used to witness certain extremal steerable correlations, which certify all pure two-qubit entangled states. We demonstrate that the violation of analogous CHSH inequality of steering or nonvanishing value of a quantity constructed using a correlation function called mutual predictability together with the maximal violation of fine-grained steering inequality can be used to self-test any pure entangled two-qubit state in a $1$-sided device-independent way.

Tripartite entanglement detection through tripartite quantum steering in one-sided and two-sided device-independent scenarios

In the present work, we study tripartite quantum steering of quantum correlations arising from two local dichotomic measurements on each side in the two types of partially device-independent scenarios: $1$-sided device-independent scenario where one of the parties performs untrusted measurements while the other two parties perform trusted measurements and $2$-sided device-independent scenario where one of the parties performs trusted measurements while the other two parties perform untrusted measurements. We demonstrate that tripartite steering in the $2$-sided device-independent scenario is weaker than tripartite steering in the $1$-sided device-independent scenario by using two families of quantum correlations. That is these two families of quantum correlations in the $2$-sided device-independent framework detect tripartite entanglement through tripartite steering for a larger region than that in the $1$-sided device-independent framework. It is shown that tripartite steering in the $2$-sided device-independent scenario implies the presence of genuine tripartite entanglement of $2\times 2 \times 2$ quantum system, even if the correlation does not exhibit genuine nonlocality or genuine steering.

Operational characterization of quantumness of unsteerable bipartite states

Recently, the quantumness of local correlations arising from separable states in the context of a Bell scenario has been studied and linked with superlocality [Phys. Rev. A {\bf 95}, 032120 (2017)]. Here we investigate the quantumness of unsteerable correlations in the context of a given steering scenario. Generalizing the concept of superlocality, we define as \textit{super-correlation}, the requirement for a larger dimension of the preshared randomness to simulate the correlations than that of the quantum states that generate them. Since unsteerable states form a subset of Bell local states, it is an interesting question whether certain unsteerable states can be super-correlated. Here, we answer this question in the affirmative. In particular, the quantumness of certain unsteerable correlations can be pointed out by the notion of \textit{super-unsteerability}, the requirement for a larger dimension of the classical variable that the steering party has to preshare with the trusted party for simulating the correlations than that of the quantum states which reproduce them. This provides a generalized approach to quantify the quantumness of unsteerable correlations in convex operational theories.

Convex geometry of Markovian Lindblad dynamics and witnessing non-Markovianity

We develop a theory of linear witnesses for detecting non-Markovianity, based on the geometric structure of the set of Choi states for all Markovian evolutions having Lindblad type generators. We show that the set of all such Markovian Choi states form a convex and compact set under the small time interval approximation. Invoking geometric Hahn-Banach theorem, we construct linear witnesses to separate a given non-Markovian Choi state from the set of Markovian Choi states. We present examples of such witnesses for dephasing channel and Pauli channel in case of qubits. We further investigate the geometric structure of the Markovian Choi states to find that they do not form a polytope. This presents a platform to consider non-linear improvement of non-Markovianity witnesses.
