Tighter constraints of multiqubit entanglement for negativity

We provide a characterization of multiqubit entanglement monogamy and polygamy constraints in terms of negativity. Using the square of convex-roof extended negativity (SCREN) and the Hamming weight of the binary vector related to the distribution of subsystems proposed in Kim (Phys Rev A 97: 012334, 2018), we provide a new class of monogamy inequalities of multiqubit entanglement based on the $α$th power of SCREN for $α\geq1$ and polygamy inequalities for $0\leqα\leq1$ in terms of squared convex-roof extended negativity of assistance (SCRENoA). For the case $α<0$, we give the corresponding polygamy and monogamy relations for SCREN and SCRENoA, respectively. We also show that these new inequalities give rise to tighter constraints than the existing ones.

The Acceleration and Confinement of Energetic Electrons by a Termination Shock in a Magnetic Trap: An Explanation for Nonthermal Loop-top Sources during Solar Flares

Nonthermal loop-top sources in solar flares are the most prominent observational signature that suggests energy release and particle acceleration in the solar corona. Although several scenarios for particle acceleration have been proposed, the origin of the loop-top sources remains unclear. Here we present a model that combines a large-scale magnetohydrodynamic simulation of a two-ribbon flare with a particle acceleration and transport model for investigating electron acceleration by a fast-mode termination shock at the looptop. Our model provides spatially resolved electron distribution that evolves in response to the dynamic flare geometry. We find a concave-downward magnetic structure located below the flare termination shock, induced by the fast reconnection downflows. It acts as a magnetic trap to confine the electrons at the looptop for an extended period of time. The electrons are energized significantly as they cross the shock front, and eventually build up a power-law energy spectrum extending to hundreds of keV. We suggest that this particle acceleration and transport scenario driven by a flare termination shock is a viable interpretation for the observed nonthermal loop-top sources.

The Fate of Instability of de Sitter Black Holes at Large $D$

We study non-linearly the gravitational instabilities of Reissner-Nordstrom-de Sitter and Gauss-Bonnet-de Sitter black holes by using the large $D$ expansion method. In both cases, the thresholds of the instability are found to be consistent with the linear analysis, and on the thresholds the evolutions of the black holes under perturbations settle down to stationary lumpy solutions. However, the solutions in unstable region are highly time-dependent, and resemble the fully localized black spots and black ring with $S^{D-2}$ and $S^1\times S^{D-3}$ topologies, respectively. Our study indicates the possible transition between the lumpy black holes and localized black holes in higher dimensions.

Bounds and Constructions of Locally Repairable Codes: Parity-check Matrix Approach

A $q$-ary $(n,k,r)$ locally repairable code (LRC) is an $[n,k,d]$ linear code over $\mathbb{F}_q$ such that every code symbol can be recovered by accessing at most $r$ other code symbols. The well-known Singleton-like bound says that $d \le n-k-\lceil k/r\rceil +2$ and an LRC is said to be optimal if it attains this bound. In this paper, we study the bounds and constructions of LRCs from the view of parity-check matrices. Firstly, a simple and unified framework based on parity-check matrix to analyze the bounds of LRCs is proposed. Several useful structural properties on $q$-ary optimal LRCs are obtained. We derive an upper bound on the minimum distance of $q$-ary optimal $(n,k,r)$-LRCs in terms of the field size $q$. Then, we focus on constructions of optimal LRCs over binary field. It is proved that there are only 5 classes of possible parameters with which optimal binary $(n,k,r)$-LRCs exist. Moreover, by employing the proposed parity-check matrix approach, we completely enumerate all these 5 classes of possible optimal binary LRCs attaining the Singleton-like bound in the sense of equivalence of linear codes.

Spin and Quadrupole Couplings for High Spin Equatorial Intermediate Mass-ratio Coalescences

Intermediate mass-ratio coalescences are potential signals of ground-based and space-based gravitational observatories. Accurate modeling of their waveforms within general relativity can be achieved within black hole perturbation theory including self-force and finite size effects. In this paper, we present analytic results to the Teukolsky perturbation of equatorial orbits in the near-horizon region of an extremely high spin black hole including spin coupling and finite size effects at leading order in the high spin limit while neglecting the self-force. We detail the critical behavior occuring close to the smallest specific angular momentum, and we discuss features of spin and quadrupole couplings.

2d Galilean Field Theories with Anisotropic Scaling

In this work, we study two-dimensional Galilean field theories with global translations and anisotropic scaling symmetries. We show that such theories have enhanced local symmetries, generated by the infinite dimensional spin-l Galilean algebra with possible central extensions, under the assumption that the dilation operator is diagonalizable and has a discrete and non-negative spectrum. We study the Newton-Cartan geometry with anisotropic scaling, on which the field theories could be defined in a covariant way. With the well-defined Newton-Cartan geometry we establish the state-operator correspondence in anisotropic GCFT, determine the two-point functions of primary operators, and discuss the modular properties of the torus partition function which allows us to derive Cardy-like formulae.

Radio Spectroscopic Imaging of a Solar Flare Termination Shock: Split-Band Feature as Evidence for Shock Compression

Solar flare termination shocks have been suggested as one of the promising drivers for particle acceleration in solar flares, yet observational evidence remains rare. By utilizing radio dynamic spectroscopic imaging of decimetric stochastic spike bursts in an eruptive flare, Chen et al. found that the bursts form a dynamic surface-like feature located at the ending points of fast plasma downflows above the looptop, interpreted as a flare termination shock. One piece of observational evidence that strongly supports the termination shock interpretation is the occasional split of the emission band into two finer lanes in frequency, similar to the split-band feature seen in fast-coronal-shock-driven type II radio bursts. Here we perform spatially, spectrally, and temporally resolved analysis of the split-band feature of the flare termination shock event. We find that the ensemble of the radio centroids from the two split-band lanes each outlines a nearly co-spatial surface. The high-frequency lane is located slightly below its low frequency counterpart by ~0.8 Mm, which strongly supports the shock upstream-downstream interpretation. Under this scenario, the density compression ratio across the shock front can be inferred from the frequency split, which implies a shock with a Mach number of up to 2.0. Further, the spatiotemporal evolution of the density compression along the shock front agrees favorably with results from magnetohydrodynamics simulations. We conclude that the detailed variations of the shock compression ratio may be due to the impact of dynamic plasma structures in the reconnection outflows, which results in distortion of the shock front.

Eight-dimensional Polarization-ring-switching Modulation Formats

We propose two 8-dimensional (8D) modulation formats (8D-2048PRS-T1 and 8D-2048PRS-T2) with a spectral efficiency of 5.5 bit/4D-sym, where the 8 dimensions are obtained from two time slots and two polarizations. Both formats provide a higher tolerance to nonlinearity by selecting symbols with nonidentical states of polarization (SOPs) in two time slots. The performance of these novel 8D modulation formats is assessed in terms of the effective signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and normalized generalized mutual information. 8D-2048PRS-T1 is more suitable for high SNRs, while 8D-2048PRS-T2 is shown to be more tolerant to nonlinearities. A sensitivity improvement of at least 0.25 dB is demonstrated by maximizing normalized generalized mutual information (NGMI). For a long-haul nonlinear optical fiber transmission system, the benefit of mitigating the nonlinearity is demonstrated and a reach increase of 6.7% (560 km) over time-domain hybrid four-dimensional two-amplitude eight-phase shift keying (TDH-4D-2A8PSK) is observed.

Asymmetric $λ$-deformed cosets

We study the integrable asymmetric $λ$-deformations of the $SO(n+1)/SO(n)$ coset models, following the prescription proposed in \cite{AsyLambda}. We construct all corresponding deformed geometries in an inductive way. Remarkably we find a $Z_2$ transformation which maps the asymmetric $λ$--deformed models to the symmetric $λ$--deformed models.

Average coherence with respect to complementary measurements

We investigate the average coherence with respect to a complete set of complementary measurements. By using a Wigner-Yanase skew information-based coherence measure introduced in [Phys. Rev. A \textbf{96}, 022130, 2017], we evaluate the average coherence of a state with respect to any complete set of mutually unbiased measurements and general symmetric informationally complete measurements, respectively. We also establish analytically the relations among these average coherences.

Surface/State correspondence and $T\overline{T}$ deformation

The surface/state correspondence suggests that the bulk co-dimensional two surface could be dual to the quantum state in the holographic conformal field theory(CFT). Inspired by the cutoff-AdS/$T\overline{T}$-deformed-CFT correspondence, we propose that the quantum states of two-dimensional $T\overline{T}$-deformed holographic CFT are dual to some particular surfaces in the AdS$_3$ gravity. In particular, the time slice of the cut-off surface is dual to the ground state of the $T\overline{T}$-deformed CFT. We examine our proposal by studying the entanglement entropy and quantum information metric. We find that the complexity of the ground state in the deformed theory is consistent with the one of a particular cMERA and the holographic complexity via CV or CA prescription.

Holographic Correlators on Integrable Superstrata

In this work, we study the $\frac{1}{8}$-BPS heavy-heavy-light-light correlators in the D1D5 CFT and its holographic dual. On the field theory side, we compute the fermionic four-point correlators at the free orbifold point. On the dual gravity side, we compute the correlators of the scalar operators in the supergravity limit of the D1D5 CFT. Following the strategy of \cite{Galliani:2017jlg}, the four-point function is converted into a two-point function in non-trivial geometries known as superstrata which are supergravity solutions preserving $1/8$ supersymmetries. We focus on a family of integrable superstrata, which allows us to compute the correlators perturbatively.

Tighter constraints of multiqubit entanglement

Monogamy and polygamy relations characterize the distributions of entanglement in multipartite systems. We provide classes of monogamy and polygamy inequalities of multiqubit entanglement in terms of concurrence, entanglement of formation, negativity, Tsallis-$q$ entanglement and Rényi-$α$ entanglement, respectively. We show that these inequalities are tighter than the existing ones for some classes of quantum states.

Polarization-ring-switching for nonlinearity-tolerant geometrically-shaped four-dimensional formats maximizing generalized mutual information

In this paper, a new four-dimensional 64-ary polarization ring switching (4D-64PRS) modulation format with a spectral efficiency of 6 bit/4D-sym is introduced. The format is designed by maximizing the generalized mutual information (GMI) and by imposing a constant-modulus on the 4D structure. The proposed format yields an improved performance with respect to state-of-the-art geometrically shaped modulation formats for bit-interleaved coded modulation systems at the same spectral efficiency. Unlike previously published results, the coordinates of the constellation points and the binary labeling of the constellation are jointly optimized. When compared with polarization-multiplexed 8-ary quadrature-amplitude modulation (PM-8QAM), gains of up to 0.7 dB in signal-to-noise ratio are observed in the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. For a long-haul nonlinear optical fiber system of 8,000 km, gains of up to 0.27 bit/4D-sym (5.5% data capacity increase) are observed. These gains translate into a reach increase of approximately 16% (1,100 km). The proposed modulation format is also shown to be more tolerant to nonlinearities than PM-8QAM. Results with LDPC codes are also presented, which confirm the gains predicted by the GMI.

Rényi Mutual Information in Holographic Warped CFTs

The study of Rényi mutual information (RMI) sheds light on the AdS/CFT correspondence beyond classical order. In this article, we study the Rényi mutual information between two intervals at large distance in two-dimensional holographic warped conformal field theory, which is conjectured to be dual to the gravity on AdS3 or warped AdS3 spacetime under the Dirichlet-Newman boundary conditions. By using the operator product expansion of twist operators up to level 3, we read the leading oder and the next-toleading order RMI in the large central charge and small cross-ratio limits. The leading order result is furthermore confirmed using the conformal block expansion. Finally, we match the next-to-leading result by a 1-loop calculation in the bulk.
