Non-Gaussian features from the inverse volume corrections in loop quantum cosmology

In this paper we study the non-Gaussian features of the primordial fluctuations in loop quantum cosmology with the inverse volume corrections. The detailed analysis is performed in the single field slow-roll inflationary models. However, our results reflect the universal characteristics of bispectrum in loop quantum cosmology. The main corrections to the scalar bispectrum come from two aspects: one is the modifications to the standard Bunch-Davies vacuum, the other is the corrections to the background dependent variables, such as slow-roll parameters. Our calculations show that the loop quantum corrections make $f_{\rm NL}$ of the inflationary models increase 0.1%. Moreover, we find that two new shapes arise, namely $\mathcal F_{1}$ and $\mathcal F_{2}$. The former gives a unique loop quantum feature which is less correlated with the local, equilateral and single types, while the latter is highly correlated with the local one.

Mapping Hawking temperature in the spinning constant curvature black hole spaces into Unruh temperature

We established the equivalence between the local Hawking temperature measured by the time-like Killing observer located at some positions $r$ with finite distances from the outer horizon $r_+$ in the 5-dimensional spinning black hole space with both negative and positive constant curvature, and the Unruh temperature measured by the Rindler observer with constant acceleration in the 6-dimensional flat space by employing the globally embedding approach.

Scalar graviton in the healthy extension of Hořava-Lifshitz theory

In this note we study the linear dynamics of scalar graviton in a de Sitter background in the infrared limit of the healthy extension of Hořava-Lifshitz gravity with the dynamical critical exponent $z=3$. Both our analytical and numerical results show that the non-zero Fourier modes of scalar graviton oscillate with an exponentially damping amplitude on the sub-horizon scale, while on the super-horizon scale, the phases are frozen and they approach to some asymptotic values. In addition, as the case of the non-zero modes on super-horizon scale, the zero mode also initially decays exponentially and then approaches to an asymptotic constant value.

Acoustic signatures in the Cosmic Microwave Background bispectrum from primordial magnetic fields

Using the full radiation transfer function, we numerically calculate the CMB angular bispectrum seeded by the compensated magnetic scalar density mode. We find that, for the string inspired primordial magnetic fields characterized by index $n_B=-2.9$ and mean-field amplitude $B_{\lam}=9{\rm nG}$, the angular bispectrum is dominated by two primordial magnetic shapes. The first magnetic shape looks similar to the one from local-type primordial curvature perturbations, so both the amplitude and profile of the Komatsu-Spergel estimator (reduced bispectrum) seeded by this shape are almost the same as those of the primary CMB anisotropies. However, for different parameter sets ($l_1,l_2$), this "local-type" reduced bispectrum oscillates around different asymptotic values in the high-$l_3$ regime because of the effect of the Lorentz force, which is exerted by the primordial magnetic fields on the charged baryons. This feature is different from the standard case where all modes approach to zero asymptotically in the high-$l$ limit. On the other hand, the second magnetic shape appears only in the primordial magnetic field model. The amplitude of the Komatsu-Spergel estimator sourced by the second shape diverges in the low-$l$ regime because of the negative slope of shape. In the high-$l$ regime, this amplitude is approximately equal to that of the first estimator, but with a reversal phase.

Possible heavy molecular states composed of a pair of excited charm-strange mesons

The P-wave charm-strange mesons $D_{s0}(2317)$ and $D_{s1}(2460)$ lie below the $DK$ and $D^\ast K$ threshold respectively. They are extremely narrow because their strong decays violate the isospin symmetry. We study the possible heavy molecular states composed of a pair of excited charm strange mesons. As a byproduct, we also present the numerical results for the bottonium-like analogue.

Direct measurement of the magnetic field effects on carrier mobilities and recombination in tri-(8-hydroxyquinoline)-aluminum based light-emitting diodes

The magnetic field effects on the carrier mobilities and recombination in tri-(8-hydroxyquinoline)-aluminum (Alq3) based light-emitting diodes have been measured by the method of transient electroluminescence. It is confirmed that the magnetic field has no effect on the electron and hole mobilities in Alq3 layers and can decrease the electron-hole recombination coefficient. The results imply that the dominant mechanism for the magnetic field effects in Alq3 based light-emitting diodes is the interconversion between singlet e-h pairs and triplet e-h pairs modulated by the magnetic field when the driving voltage is larger than the onset voltage of the electroluminescence.

Entropy Perturbations in N-flation

In this paper we study the entropy perturbations in N-flation by using the $\d\ma{N}$ formalism. We calculate the entropy corrections to the power spectrum of the overall curvature perturbation $P_{\z}$. We obtain an analytic form of the transfer coefficient $T^2_{\ma{R}\ma{S}}$, which describes the correlation between the curvature and entropy perturbations, and investigate its behavior numerically. It turns out that the entropy perturbations cannot be neglected in N-flation, because the amplitude of entropy components is approximately in the same order as the adiabatic one at the end of inflation $T^2_{\ma{R}\ma{S}}\sim\ma{O}(1)$. The spectral index $n_S$ is calculated and it becomes smaller after the entropy modes are taken into account, i.e., the spectrum becomes redder, compared to the pure adiabatic case. Finally we study the modified consistency relation of N-flation, and find that the tensor-to-scalar ratio ($r\simeq0.006$) is greatly suppressed by the entropy modes, compared to the pure adiabatic one ($r\simeq0.017$) at the end of inflation.

Timelike Vector Field Dynamics in the Early Universe

We study the dynamics of a timelike vector field which violates Lorentz invariance when the background spacetime is in an accelerating phase in the early universe. It is shown that a timelike vector field is difficult to realize an inflationary phase, so we investigate the evolution of a vector field within a scalar field driven inflation model. And we calculate the power spectrum of the vector field without considering the metric perturbations. While the time component of the vector field perturbations provides a scale invariant spectrum when $ξ= 0$, where $ξ$ is a nonminimal coupling parameter, both the longitudinal and transverse perturbations give a scale invariant spectrum when $ξ= 1/6$.

Large Primordial Trispectra in General Single Field Inflation

We compute the large scalar four-point correlation functions in general single field inflation models, where the inflaton Lagrangian is an arbitrary function of the inflaton and its first derivative. We find that the leading order trispectra have four different shapes determined by three parameters. We study features in these shapes that can be used to distinguish among themselves, and between them and the trispectra of the local form. For the purpose of data analyses, we give two simple representative forms for these "equilateral trispectra". We also study the effects on the trispectra if the initial state of inflation deviates from the standard Bunch-Davies vacuum.

Primordial Trispectrum from Entropy Perturbations in Multifield DBI Model

We investigate the primordial trispectra of the general multifield DBI inflationary model. In contrast with the single field model, the entropic modes can source the curvature perturbations on the super horizon scales, so we calculate the contributions from the interaction of four entropic modes mediating one adiabatic mode to the trispectra, at the large transfer limit ($T_{RS}\gg1$). We obtained the general form of the 4-point correlation functions, plotted the shape diagrams in two specific momenta configurations, "equilateral configuration" and "specialized configuration". Our figures showed that we can easily distinguish the two different momenta configurations.

Dynamical Scalar Degree of Freedom in Horava-Lifshitz Gravity

We investigate the linear cosmological perturbations of Hořava-Lifshitz gravity in a FRW universe without any matter. Our results show that a new gauge invariant dynamical scalar mode emerges, due to the gauge transformation under the "foliation-preserving" diffeomorphism and "projectability condition", and it can produce a scale invariant power spectrum. In the infrared regime with $λ=1$, the dynamical scalar degree of freedom turns to be a non-dynamical one at the linear order level.

Holography, UV/IR Relation, Causal Entropy Bound and Dark Energy

The constraint on the total energy in a given spatial region is given from holography by the mass of a black hole which just fits in that region, which leads to an UV/IR relation: the maximal energy density in that region is proportional to $M_p^2/L^2$, where $M_p$ is the Planck mass and $L$ is the spatial scale of that region under consideration. Assuming the maximal black hole in the universe is formed through gravitational collapse of perturbations in the universe, then the "Jeans" scale of the perturbations gives a causal connection scale $R_{\rm CC}$. For gravitational perturbations, $R^{-2}_{\rm CC}={\rm Max}(\dot H+2H^2, -\dot H)$ for a flat universe. We study the cosmological dynamics of the corresponding vacuum energy density by choosing the causal connection scale as the IR cutoff in the UV/IR relation, in the cases of the vacuum energy density as an independently conserved energy component and an effective dynamical cosmological constant, respectively. It turns out that only the case with the choice $R_{\rm CC}^{-2}= \dot H +2H^2$, could be consistent with the current cosmological observations when the vacuum density appears as an independently conserved energy component. In this case, the model is called holographic Ricci scalar dark energy model in the literature.

Gauss-Bonnet Term on Vacuum Decay

We study the effect of the Gauss-Bonnet term on vacuum decay process in the Coleman-De Luccia formalism. The Gauss-Bonnet term has an exponential coupling with the real scalar field, which appears in the low energy effective action of string theories. We calculate numerically the instanton solution, which describes the process of vacuum decay, and obtain the critical size of bubble. We find that the Gauss-Bonnet term has a nontrivial effect on the false vacuum decay, depending on the Gauss-Bonnet coefficient.

A Note on Self-gravitating Radiation in AdS Spacetime

In this paper we investigate the equilibrium self-gravitating radiation in higher dimensional, plane symmetric anti-de Sitter space. We find that there exist essential differences from the spherically symmetric case: In each dimension ($d\geq 4$), there are maximal mass (density), maximal entropy (density) and maximal temperature configurations, they do not appear at the same central energy density; the oscillation behavior appearing in the spherically symmetric case, does not happen in this case; and the mass (density), as a function of the central energy density, increases first and reaches its maximum at a certain central energy density and then decreases monotonically in $ 4\le d \le 7$, while in $d \geq 8$, besides the maximum, the mass (density) of the equilibrium configuration has a minimum: the mass (density) first increases and reaches its maximum, then decreases to its minimum and then increases to its asymptotic value monotonically. The reason causing the difference is discussed.
