Prospects for observing the ${\eta}_{t}$ ${\to}$ $W^{+}W^{-}$ decay at the HL-LHC

Motivated by the recent observation of the pseudoscalar toponium ${\eta}_{t}$ at the LHC and by the ongoing interest in its properties, we phenomenologically investigate the ${\eta}_{t}$ ${\to}$ $W^{+}W^{-}$ process, one of the characteristic decays of toponium ${\eta}_{t}$. The branching ratio for the ${\eta}_{t}$ ${\to}$ $W^{+}W^{-}$ decay is estimated with two scenarios of the decay constant $f_{{\eta}_{t}}$. It is found that tens of dilepton events from the cascade decays, ${\eta}_{t}$ ${\to}$ $W^{+}W^{-}$ ${\to}$ ${\ell}^{-}\bar{\nu}_{\ell}{\ell}^{{\prime}+}{\nu}_{{\ell}^{\prime}}$ with ${\ell}$, ${\ell}^{\prime}$ $=$ $e$ and ${\mu}$, could be experimentally observed, when considering the realistic identification efficiency of the charged lepton and assuming more than $3{\times}10^{7}$ ${\eta}_{t}$ events available at the future HL-LHC. We propose searching for ${\eta}_{t}$ via the ${\eta}_{t}$ ${\to}$ $W^{+}W^{-}$ ${\to}$ ${\ell}^{-}\bar{\nu}_{\ell}{\ell}^{{\prime}+}{\nu}_{{\ell}^{\prime}}$ channel, which features no $b$-jets and clean dilepton signatures, thus offering a complementary and potentially more sensitive probe.

The feasibility of single ${\Lambda}$ production via ${\ell}^{-}$ $+$ $p$ ${\to}$ ${\Lambda}$ $+$ ${\nu}_{\ell}$ at $e^{+}e^{-}$ colliders

We present a comprehensive investigation of single ${\Lambda}$ hyperon production via the lepton-nucleon deep inelastic scattering (LNDIS) process, ${\ell}^{-}$ $+$ $p$ ${\to}$ ${\nu}_{\ell}$ $+$ ${\Lambda}$, in the experimental environment of electron-positron colliders. Our approach utilizes incident leptons originating from the decays of resonances (${J/\psi}$, ${\psi}(2S)$, ${\Upsilon}(1S)$, ${\Upsilon}(2S)$, and $Z^{0}$) produced in $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions, which then scatter off stationary protons in the surrounding detector materials. The differential and total cross sections are calculated using baryonic transition form factors parameterized with the $z$-expansion scheme within both the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) sum rule and lattice QCD frameworks. Our results indicate that the cross section increases with center-of-mass energy and is highly sensitive to the choice of form factors, resulting in significant theoretical uncertainties. This study highlights the experimental challenges in observing the LNDIS process at $e^{+}e^{-}$ colliders and underscores the need for improved determination of baryonic form factors. It serves as a valuable reference for future experimental searches and suggests that an anomalous observation of single ${\Lambda}$ hyperon production at $e^{+}e^{-}$ colliders could indicate new physics.

Contributions from the color-octet matrix elements to the $\overline{B}$ ${\to}$ ${\pi}{\pi}$ decays with QCD factorization approach

Motivated by the ${\pi}{\pi}$ puzzle in nonleptonic $B$ decays in the time of high-precision and huge-data for particle physics, we restudy the $\overline{B}$ ${\to}$ ${\pi}{\pi}$ decays with QCD factorization approach. An additional contributions from the color-octet current matrix elements (COCME) which are unnoticed in almost all the previous calculation, are taken into consideration and parameterized by $X$. It is found that (1) form factor $F_{0}^{B{\pi}}$ ${\approx}$ $0.22$ is favored by the available latest measurements. (2) The COCME contributions are helpful to interpret the experimental data on branching ratios rather than $CP$ asymmetries for the $\overline{B}$ ${\to}$ ${\pi}{\pi}$ decays.

Searching for the toponium ${\eta}_{t}$ with the ${\eta}_{t}$ ${\to}$ $W^{+}W^{-}$ decay

Inspired by the observation of the ${\eta}_{t}$ meson at the LHC and the promising prospect of the ${\eta}_{t}$ meson available at the approaching HL-LHC, branching ratios for the ${\eta}_{t}$ ${\to}$ $f\bar{f}$, $gg$, ${\gamma}{\gamma}$, $W^{+}W^{-}$, $Z^{0}Z^{0}$, $Z^{0}{\gamma}$ and $Z^{0}H$ decays are roughly estimated. It is found that tens of opposite-charge dilepton events from the ${\eta}_{t}$ ${\to}$ $W^{+}W^{-}$ decay and hundreds of events from the ${\eta}_{t}$ ${\to}$ $Z^{0}H$ ${\to}$ ${\ell}^{+}{\ell}^{-}H$ decay using the single $Z^{0}$ boson tagging method are expected to be accessible. This estimation provides a reference for future experimental study on the ${\eta}_{t}$ meson.
