CLSP-REQA: A Real-Time Quality-Aware Closed-Loop Seizure Prediction Framework with Mamba-BiLSTM and Confidence-Gated Intervention

Reliable seizure prediction is a prerequisite for closed-loop neurostimulation therapy, yet existing methods rarely account for the variability in EEG signal quality encountered in real-world deployment, and the overwhelming majority adopt non-strict evaluation protocols that overestimate generalisation performance. We propose CLSP-REQA (Closed-Loop Seizure Prediction with Real-time EEG Quality Assessment), a unified framework that embeds a lightweight signal quality estimator directly within the prediction pipeline. A Real-time EEG Quality Assessment (REQA) module runs in parallel with a Mamba-BiLSTM backbone, producing a scalar quality score q in [0,1] that modulates output confidence through a tiered non-linear fusion function (ECLO). Under strict cross-patient evaluation on the CHB-MIT Scalp EEG Database (n = 23 subjects, 198 seizures), CLSP-REQA achieves an AUC-ROC of 0.7426 +- 0.0199, outperforming the unadapted cross-patient baseline of 0.69 reported by Jemal et al., using only 16 EEG channels compared to 23 in prior work, and without requiring any target-patient data or domain adaptation. On the SIENA Scalp EEG Database (n = 14 subjects, 47 seizures), CLSP-REQA achieves AUC 0.7012 +- 0.0249, substantially surpassing the best domain-adapted cross-patient result of 0.61 on the same dataset, demonstrating strong cross-dataset generalisation. The framework outputs a structured four-tuple (p, q, c, Phi_SHAP) directly compatible with closed-loop neurostimulator interfaces.

GhostShell: Streaming LLM Function Calls for Concurrent Embodied Programming

We present GhostShell, a novel approach that leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) for streaming and concurrent behavioral programming in embodied systems. In contrast to predefined behavioral structures and plan-then-execute paradigms, GhostShell enables reasoning-while-acting by incrementally invoking functions during LLM streaming generation. We define function tokens as an XML-based function-call representation that GhostShell parses from the LLM generation stream and maps to callable functions. A multi-channel scheduling algorithm further orchestrates these calls with intra-channel synchronous and inter-channel asynchronous dispatch, coordinating sequential-parallel behavior execution across multiple robotic components. We evaluate GhostShell on our robotic prototype CoCo across 33 real-world tasks with LLMs from nine providers. On 30 grounded Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) tasks, our approach achieves the highest Directed Structured Behavior Correctness (DSBC) score of 0.83 with Claude-Sonnet-4, while on three long-horizon multimodal tasks, GPT-4.1 attains a top human evaluation score of 7.0/10. Compared to native LLM function calling, our function token schema achieves a 15/15 task completion rate versus 6/15, particularly in coordinating concurrent linguistic and physical actions. CG-MambaNet: A spatiotemporal framework for cross-patient epileptic seizure prediction using CNN-GCN-Mamba-BiLSTM with event-level clinical evaluation

Epileptic seizure prediction from scalp EEG is critical for closed-loop neurostimulation therapy. Existing deep-learning methods share two architectural limitations: they model EEG channels independently, neglecting inter-channel spatial synchrony, and process raw time-domain samples without frequency decomposition. A methodological limitation also affects the field: most studies use data splits that permit patient-level information leakage, yielding optimistic estimates that do not generalise to unseen patients. We present CG-MambaNet, a spatiotemporal seizure prediction framework addressing all three limitations. A depthwise separable CNN front-end decomposes each EEG patch into multi-scale spectro-temporal features, capturing delta-to-gamma band dynamics before sequence modelling. A two-layer graph convolutional network with a learnable adjacency matrix captures inter-channel functional synchrony without montage-specific coordinates, applicable to bipolar (CHB-MIT) and referential (SIENA) montages. A bidirectional Mamba encoder followed by a bidirectional LSTM models long- and short-range temporal dynamics, and a two-layer MLP produces the final seizure probability. This serial hierarchy ensures frequency decomposition precedes spatial mixing, which precedes temporal integration. Under strict leave-one-patient-out cross-validation with five independent random seeds, CG-MambaNet achieves AUC-ROC of 0.8152+/-0.0176 on CHB-MIT (n=22) and 0.7104+/-0.0261 on SIENA (n=6), surpassing all published cross-patient methods without domain adaptation. An event-level evaluation framework merging consecutive alarmed windows via a persistence filter reduces false predictions to 0.32 alarms/hour on CHB-MIT, demonstrating clinically meaningful alarm burden.
