Existence, Stability and Bifurcation of Random Complete and Periodic Solutions of Stochastic Parabolic Equations

In this paper, we study the existence, stability and bifurcation of random complete and periodic solutions for stochastic parabolic equations with multiplicative noise. We first prove the existence and uniqueness of tempered random attractors for the stochastic equations and characterize the structures of the attractors by random complete solutions. We then examine the existence and stability of random complete quasi-solutions and establish the relations of these solutions and the structures of tempered attractors. When the stochastic equations are incorporated with periodic forcing, we obtain the existence and stability of random periodic solutions. For the stochastic Chafee-Infante equation, we further establish the multiplicity and stochastic bifurcation of complete and periodic solutions.

Existence and Upper Semicontinuity of Attractors for Stochastic Equations with Deterministic Non-autonomous Terms

We prove the existence and uniqueness of tempered random attractors for stochastic Reaction-Diffusion equations on unbounded domains with multiplicative noise and deterministic non-autonomous forcing. We establish the periodicity of the tempered attractors when the stochastic equations are forced by periodic functions. We further prove the upper semicontinuity of these attractors when the intensity of stochastic perturbations approaches zero.

Sufficient and Necessary Criteria for Existence of Pullback Attractors for Non-compact Random Dynamical Systems

We study pullback attractors of non-autonomous non-compact dynamical systems generated by differential equations with non-autonomous deterministic as well as stochastic forcing terms. We first introduce the concepts of pullback attractors and asymptotic compactness for such systems. We then prove a sufficient and necessary condition for existence of pullback attractors. We also introduce the concept of complete orbits for this sort of systems and use these special solutions to characterize the structures of pullback attractors. For random systems containing periodic deterministic forcing terms, we show the pullback attractors are also periodic. As an application of the abstract theory, we prove the existence of a unique pullback attractor for Reaction-Diffusion equations on $\R^n$ with both deterministic and random external terms. Since Sobolev embeddings are not compact on unbounded domains, the uniform estimates on the tails of solutions are employed to establish the asymptotic compactness of solutions.

Periodic Random Attractors for Stochastic Navier-Stokes Equations on Unbounded Domains

This paper is concerned with the asymptotic behavior of solutions of the two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations with both non-autonomous deterministic and stochastic terms defined on unbounded domains. We first introduce a continuous cocycle for the equations and then prove the existence and uniqueness of tempered random attractors. We also characterize the structures of the random attractors by complete solutions. When deterministic forcing terms are periodic, we show that the tempered random attractors are also periodic. Since the Sobolev embeddings on unbounded domains are not compact, we establish the pullback asymptotic compactness of solutions by Ball's idea of energy equations.

Almost Periodic Dynamics of Perturbed Infinite-Dimensional Dynamical Systems

This paper is concerned with the dynamics of an infinite-dimensional gradient system under small almost periodic perturbations. Under the assumption that the original autonomous system has a global attractor given as the union of unstable manifolds of a finite number of hyperbolic equilibrium solutions, we prove that the perturbed non-autonomous system has exactly the same number of almost periodic solutions. As a consequence, the pullback attractor of the perturbed system is given by the union of unstable manifolds of these finitely many almost periodic solutions. An application of the result to the Chafee-Infante equation is discussed.

Pullback Attractors for Non-autonomous Reaction-Diffusion Equations on R^n

We study the long time behavior of solutions of the non-autonomous Reaction-Diffusion equation defined on the entire space R^n when external terms are unbounded in a phase space. The existence of a pullback global attractor for the equation is established in L^2(R^n) and H^1(R^n), respectively. The pullback asymptotic compactness of solutions is proved by using uniform a priori estimates on the tails of solutions outside bounded domains.

Poisson-Nernst-Planck Systems for Narrow Tubular-like Membrane Channels

We study global dynamics of the Poisson-Nernst-Planck (PNP) system for flows of two types of ions through a narrow tubular-like membrane channel. As the radius of the cross-section of the three-dimensional tubular-like membrane channel approaches zero, a one-dimensional limiting PNP system is derived. This one-dimensional limiting system differs from previous studied one-dimensional PNP systems in that it encodes the defining geometry of the three-dimensional membrane channel. To justify this limiting process, we show that the global attractors of the three-dimensional PNP systems are upper semi-continuous to that of the limiting PNP system. We then examine the dynamics of the one-dimensional limiting PNP system. For large Debye number, the steady-state of the one-dimensional limiting PNP system is completed analyzed using the geometric singular perturbation theory. For a special case, an entropy-type Lyapunov functional is constructed to show the global, asymptotic stability of the steady-state.

Asymptotic Behavior of Stochastic Wave Equations with Critical Exponents on R^3

The existence of a random attractor in H^1(R^3) \times L^2(R^3) is proved for the damped semilinear stochastic wave equation defined on the entire space R^3. The nonlinearity is allowed to have a cubic growth rate which is referred to as the critical exponent. The uniform pullback estimates on the tails of solutions for large space variables are established. The pullback asymptotic compactness of the random dynamical system is proved by using these tail estimates and the energy equation method.

Random Attractors for the Stochastic FitzHugh-Nagumo System on Unbounded Domains

The existence of a random attractor for the stochastic FitzHugh-Nagumo system defined on an unbounded domain is established. The pullback asymptotic compactness of the stochastic system is proved by uniform estimates on solutions for large space and time variables. These estimates are obtained by a cut-off technique.

Pullback Attractors for the Non-autonomous FitzHugh-Nagumo System on Unbounded Domains

The existence of a pullback attractor is established for the singularly perturbed FitzHugh-Nagumo system defined on the entire space $R^n$ when external terms are unbounded in a phase space. The pullback asymptotic compactness of the system is proved by using uniform a priori estimates for far-field values of solutions. Although the limiting system has no global attractor, we show that the pullback attractors for the perturbed system with bounded external terms are uniformly bounded, and hence do not blow up as a small parameter approaches zero.

Random Attractors for the Stochastic Benjamin-Bona-Mahony Equation on Unbounded Domains

We prove the existence of a compact random attractor for the stochastic Benjamin-Bona-Mahony Equation defined on an unbounded domain. This random attractor is invariant and attracts every pulled-back tempered random set under the forward flow. The asymptotic compactness of the random dynamical system is established by a tail-estimates method, which shows that the solutions are uniformly asymptotically small when space and time variables approach infinity.
