Global well-posedness of the dynamical sine-Gordon model up to $6\pi$

We prove the global well-posedness of the dynamical sine-Gordon model up to the third threshold, i.e., for parameters $\beta^2 < 6\pi$. The key novelty in our approach is the introduction of the so-called resonant equation, whose solution is entirely deterministic and completely captures the size of the solution to the dynamical sine-Gordon model. The probabilistic fluctuations in the dynamical sine-Gordon model are then controlled using uniform estimates for modified stochastic objects.

Global well-posedness of the stochastic Abelian-Higgs equations in two dimensions

We prove the global well-posedness of the stochastic Abelian-Higgs equations in two dimensions. The proof is based on a new covariant approach, which consists of two parts: First, we introduce covariant stochastic objects. The covariant stochastic objects and their multi-linear interactions are controlled using covariant heat kernel estimates. Second, we control nonlinear remainders using a covariant monotonicity formula, which is inspired by earlier work of Hamilton.

Invariant Gibbs measures for $(1+1)$-dimensional wave maps into Lie groups

We discuss the $(1+1)$-dimensional wave maps equation with values in a compact Lie group. The corresponding Gibbs measure is given by a Brownian motion on the Lie group, which plays a central role in stochastic geometry. Our main theorem is the almost sure global well-posedness and invariance of the Gibbs measure for the wave maps equation. It is the first result of this kind for any geometric wave equation. Our argument relies on a novel finite-dimensional approximation of the wave maps equation which involves the so-called Killing renormalization. The main part of this article then addresses the global convergence of our approximation and the almost invariance of the Gibbs measure under the corresponding flow. The proof of global convergence requires a carefully crafted Ansatz which includes modulated linear waves, modulated bilinear waves, and mixed modulated objects. The interactions between the different objects in our Ansatz are analyzed using an intricate combination of analytic, geometric, and probabilistic ingredients. In particular, geometric aspects of the wave maps equation are utilized via orthogonality, which has previously been used in the deterministic theory of wave maps at critical regularity. The proof of almost invariance of the Gibbs measure under our approximation relies on conservative structures, which are a new framework for the approximation of Hamiltonian equations, and delicate estimates of the energy increment.

A para-controlled approach to the stochastic Yang-Mills equation in two dimensions

We consider the stochastic Yang-Mills heat equation on the two-dimensional torus. Using regularity structures, Chandra, Chevyrev, Hairer, and Shen previously proved both the local well-posedness and gauge-covariance of this model. In this article, we revisit their results using para-controlled calculus. One of the main ingredients is a new coordinate-invariant perspective on vector-valued stochastic objects.

Well-posedness of a gauge-covariant wave equation with space-time white noise forcing

We first introduce a new model for a two-dimensional gauge-covariant wave equation with space-time white noise. In our main theorem, we obtain the probabilistic global well-posedness of this model in the Lorenz gauge. Furthermore, we prove the failure of a probabilistic null-form estimate, which exposes a potential obstruction towards the probabilistic well-posedness of a stochastic Maxwell-Klein-Gordon equation.

On Gibbs measures and topological solitons of exterior equivariant wave maps

We consider $k$-equivariant wave maps from the exterior spatial domain $\mathbb{R}^3\backslash B(0,1)$ into the target $\mathbb{S}^3$. This model has infinitely many topological solitons $Q_{n,k}$, which are indexed by their topological degree $n\in \mathbb{Z}$. For each $n\in \mathbb{Z}$ and $k\geq 1$, we prove the existence and invariance of a Gibbs measure supported on the homotopy class of $Q_{n,k}$. As a corollary, we obtain that soliton resolution fails for random initial data. Since soliton resolution is known for initial data in the energy space, this reveals a sharp contrast between deterministic and probabilistic perspectives.

Invariant Gibbs measures for the three dimensional cubic nonlinear wave equation

We prove the invariance of the Gibbs measure under the dynamics of the three-dimensional cubic wave equation, which is also known as the hyperbolic $\Phi^4_3$-model. This result is the hyperbolic counterpart to seminal works on the parabolic $\Phi^4_3$-model by Hairer '14 and Hairer-Matetski '18. The heart of the matter lies in establishing local in time existence and uniqueness of solutions on the statistical ensemble, which is achieved by using a para-controlled Ansatz for the solution, the analytical framework of the random tensor theory, and the combinatorial molecule estimates. The singularity of the Gibbs measure with respect to the Gaussian free field brings out a new caloric representation of the Gibbs measure and a synergy between the parabolic and hyperbolic theories embodied in the analysis of heat-wave stochastic objects. Furthermore from a purely hyperbolic standpoint our argument relies on key new ingredients that include a hidden cancellation between sextic stochastic objects and a new bilinear random tensor estimate.

The wave maps equation and Brownian paths

We discuss the $(1+1)$-dimensional wave maps equation with values in a compact Riemannian manifold $\mathcal{M}$. Motivated by the Gibbs measure problem, we consider Brownian paths on the manifold $\mathcal{M}$ as initial data. Our main theorem is the probabilistic local well-posedness of the associated initial value problem. The analysis in this setting combines analytic, geometric, and probabilistic methods.

Invariant Gibbs measures for the three-dimensional wave equation with a Hartree nonlinearity I: Measures

In this two-paper series, we prove the invariance of the Gibbs measure for a three-dimensional wave equation with a Hartree nonlinearity. The main novelty is the singularity of the Gibbs measure with respect to the Gaussian free field. The singularity has several consequences in both measure-theoretic and dynamical aspects of our argument. In this paper, we construct and study the Gibbs measure. Our approach is based on earlier work of Barashkov and Gubinelli for the $\Phi^4_3$-model. Most importantly, our truncated Gibbs measures are tailored towards the dynamical aspects in the second part of the series. In addition, we develop new tools dealing with the non-locality of the Hartree interaction. We also determine the exact threshold between singularity and absolute continuity of the Gibbs measure depending on the regularity of the interaction potential.

Invariant Gibbs measures for the three-dimensional wave equation with a Hartree nonlinearity II: Dynamics

In this two-paper series, we prove the invariance of the Gibbs measure for a three-dimensional wave equation with a Hartree nonlinearity. The novelty lies in the singularity of the Gibbs measure with respect to the Gaussian free field. In this paper, we focus on the dynamical aspects of our main result. The local theory is based on a para-controlled approach, which combines ingredients from dispersive equations, harmonic analysis, and random matrix theory. The main contribution, however, lies in the global theory. We develop a new globalization argument, which addresses the singularity of the Gibbs measure and its consequences.

Global well-posedness for the fifth-order KdV equation in $H^{-1}(\mathbb{R})$

We prove global well-posedness of the fifth-order Korteweg-de Vries equation on the real line for initial data in $H^{-1}(\mathbb{R})$. By comparison, the optimal regularity for well-posedness on the torus is known to be $L^2(\mathbb{R}/\mathbb{Z})$. In order to prove this result, we develop a strategy for integrating the local smoothing effect into the method of commuting flows introduced previously in the context of KdV. It is this synthesis that allows us to go beyond the known threshold on the torus.

Almost sure scattering for the energy critical nonlinear wave equation

We study the defocusing energy-critical nonlinear wave equation in four dimensions. Our main result proves the stability of the scattering mechanism under random pertubations of the initial data. The random pertubation is defined through a microlocal randomization, which is based on a unit-scale decomposition in physical and frequency space. In contrast to the previous literature, we do not require the spherical symmetry of the pertubation. The main novelty lies in a wave packet decomposition of the random linear evolution. Through this decomposition, we can adaptively estimate the interaction between the rough and regular components of the solution. Our argument relies on techniques from restriction theory, such as Bourgain's bush argument and Wolff's induction on scales.

Almost sure local well-posedness for a derivative nonlinear wave equation

We study the derivative nonlinear wave equation \( - \partial_{tt} u + \Delta u = |\nabla u|^2 \) on \( \mathbb{R}^{1+3} \). The deterministic theory is determined by the Lorentz-critical regularity \( s_L = 2 \), and both local well-posedness above \( s_L \) as well as ill-posedness below \( s_L \) are known. In this paper, we show the local existence of solutions for randomized initial data at the super-critical regularities \( s\geq 1.984\). In comparison to the previous literature in random dispersive equations, the main difficulty is the absence of a (probabilistic) nonlinear smoothing effect. To overcome this, we introduce an adaptive and iterative decomposition of approximate solutions into rough and smooth components. In addition, our argument relies on refined Strichartz estimates, a paraproduct decomposition, and the truncation method of de Bouard and Debussche.

Almost sure scattering for the radial energy critical nonlinear wave equation in three dimensions

We study the Cauchy problem for the radial energy critical nonlinear wave equation in three dimensions. Our main result proves almost sure scattering for radial initial data below the energy space. In order to preserve the spherical symmetry of the initial data, we construct a radial randomization that is based on annular Fourier multipliers. We then use a refined radial Strichartz estimate to prove probabilistic Strichartz estimates for the random linear evolution. The main new ingredient in the analysis of the nonlinear evolution is an interaction flux estimate between the linear and nonlinear components of the solution. We then control the energy of the nonlinear component by a triple bootstrap argument involving the energy, the Morawetz term, and the interaction flux estimate.
