The Proxy Knows Too Much: Sealing LLM API Routers with Attested TEEs

Agents increasingly access large language models (LLMs) through API routers. A router terminates the client's transport-layer security session and opens a separate upstream session, so it holds the full interaction in plaintext. This makes the router an application-layer man-in-the-middle: it can rewrite agent tool calls, swap dependencies for typosquatted packages, trigger attacks only under audit-evading conditions, and passively exfiltrate secrets. Existing client-side defenses are evadable. We propose AEGIS, a provider-transparent attested API router whose data path is a client-verified faithful passthrough. AEGISconfines plaintext handling to a small hardware-enclave component while leaving authentication, scheduling, accounting, and management on the untrusted host. The client verifies the enclave before releasing plaintext. The host can neither read nor alter the interaction, and plaintext leaves only toward destinations fixed by the measured image. We show that all four malicious-router attack classes succeed against a plaintext-access baseline and are blocked by AEGIS, including adaptive tests against the same boundary. The trusted path is $851$ lines, carries three provider-native APIs without conversion, and completes every request under real-provider workload and concurrency. In a seeded audit pilot, two commodity coding agents find eight and ten of ten planted invariant violations. The local relay overhead is about six milliseconds per request.

MHOT: Height-Optimized Authenticated Data Structure for Blockchain State Commitment

State root computation dominates (78%) blockchain block processing time. Ethereum's canonical authenticated data structure, i.e., Merkle Patricia Trie (MPT), suffers from severe tree-height growth and is vulnerable to \textit{Nurgle attacks} (SP'24), where adversaries inflate path depth via hash collisions and degrade system performance at negligible cost. Existing defenses increase node fanout (span) to bound tree height, but higher span inflates proof size exponentially. Prior work mitigates this trade-off using vector commitments, at the cost of trusted setup or expensive verification. We present \textsc{Mhot}, a height-optimal authenticated data structure for blockchain state commitment that preserves standard hash-based verification without trusted setup. Unlike MPT's fixed-prefix indexing, which couples span and fanout exponentially, \textsc{Mhot} indexes by discriminative bits that actually distinguish keys, achieving adaptive span with linear fanout coupling and provably minimal height. To prevent high fanout from inflating proofs, we introduce hierarchical proofs, a two-layer Merkle construction that reduces per-node proof overhead from O(k) to O(log k). On Ethereum mainnet workloads, \textsc{Mhot} achieves up to 9X higher write throughput, 4X lower write amplification, and 2X smaller proofs than MPT. Under Nurgle attacks, even when the adversary consumes an entire block's gas budget, \textsc{Mhot} maintains a 0% attack success rate (v.s., 99.97% for MPT). Our results, somewhat surprisingly, show that height optimality (not new crypto primitives!) is the key abstraction for scalable and attack-resilient blockchain state commitment.

A Data-Driven Regional Model for Skillful Medium-Range Typhoon Prediction

Accurate prediction of tropical cyclones remains a major challenge for both numerical weather prediction and emerging artificial intelligence weather prediction systems. While recent global AI models have demonstrated strong skill in large-scale circulation prediction, they often struggle to represent the mesoscale structures critical for tropical cyclone intensity and precipitation. Here we develop the Hybrid Intelligent Typhoon System (HITS), a regional AI forecasting framework for medium-range typhoon prediction over the Asia-Pacific region, trained on a newly constructed 9-km high-resolution typhoon reanalysis dataset. The model combines regional autoregressive prediction with large scale dynamical constraints from the state-of-the-art ECMWF Artificial Intelligence Forecasting System (AIFS), allowing it to remain dynamically consistent with the evolving large-scale circulation while resolving mesoscale structures. HITS is further extended with a structure-aware perceptual training strategy (HITS-LPIPS) that improves the representation of convective and typhoon rainband structures. Experiments show that the hybrid framework substantially improves precipitation structure and typhoon intensity forecasts compared with both purely autoregressive regional AI models and standalone AI downscaling approaches. In particular, HITS-LPIPS reduces intensity errors by up to 47.8% relative to AIFS at a 72 hour lead time and produces a near-unbiased wind-pressure relationship for simulated typhoons. These results demonstrate that dynamically constrained regional AI systems provide a promising pathway for improving medium-range typhoon prediction.

VALLR-Pin: Uncertainty-Factorized Visual Speech Recognition for Mandarin with Pinyin Guidance

Visual speech recognition (VSR) aims to transcribe spoken content from silent lip-motion videos and is particularly challenging in Mandarin due to severe viseme ambiguity and pervasive homophones. We propose VALLR-Pin, a two-stage Mandarin VSR framework that extends the VALLR architecture by explicitly incorporating Pinyin as an intermediate representation. In the first stage, a shared visual encoder feeds dual decoders that jointly predict Mandarin characters and their corresponding Pinyin sequences, encouraging more robust visual-linguistic representations. In the second stage, an LLM-based refinement module takes the predicted Pinyin sequence together with an N-best list of character hypotheses to resolve homophone-induced ambiguities. To further adapt the LLM to visual recognition errors, we fine-tune it on synthetic instruction data constructed from model-generated Pinyin-text pairs, enabling error-aware correction. Experiments on public Mandarin VSR benchmarks demonstrate that VALLR-Pin consistently improves transcription accuracy under multi-speaker conditions, highlighting the effectiveness of combining phonetic guidance with lightweight LLM refinement.

Skillful Subseasonal-to-Seasonal Forecasting of Extreme Events with a Multi-Sphere Coupled Probabilistic Model

Accurate subseasonal-to-seasonal (S2S) prediction of extreme events is critical for resource planning and disaster mitigation under accelerating climate change. However, such predictions remain challenging due to complex multi-sphere interactions and intrinsic atmospheric uncertainty. Here we present TianXing-S2S, a multi-sphere coupled probabilistic model for global S2S daily ensemble forecast. TianXing-S2S first encodes diverse multi-sphere predictors into a compact latent space, then employs a diffusion model to generate daily ensemble forecasts. A novel coupling module based on optimal transport (OT) is incorporated in the denoiser to optimize the interactions between atmospheric and multi-sphere boundary conditions. Across key atmospheric variables, TianXing-S2S outperforms both the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) S2S system and FuXi-S2S in 45-day daily-mean ensemble forecasts at 1.5 resolution. Our model achieves skillful subseasonal prediction of extreme events including heat waves and anomalous precipitation, identifying soil moisture as a critical precursor signal. Furthermore, we demonstrate that TianXing-S2S can generate stable rollout forecasts up to 180 days, establishing a robust framework for S2S research in a warming world.

Intelligent Shanghai Typhoon Model (ISTM): A generative probabilistic emulator for typhoon hybrid modeling

To address the systematic underestimation of typhoon intensity in artificial intelligence weather prediction (AIWP) models, we propose the Intelligent Shanghai Typhoon Model (ISTM): a unified regional-to-typhoon generative probabilistic forecasting system based on a two-stage UNet-Diffusion framework. ISTM learns a downscaling mapping from 4 years of 25 km ERA5 reanalysis to a 9 km high resolution typhoon reanalysis dataset, enabling the generation of kilometer-scale near-surface variables and maximum radar reflectivity from coarse resolution fields. The evaluation results show that the two-stage UNet-Diffusion model significantly outperforms both ERA5 and the baseline UNet regression in capturing the structure and intensity of surface winds and precipitation. After fine-tuning, ISTM can effectively map AIFS forecasts, an advanced AIWP model, to high-resolution forecasts from AI-physics hybrid Shanghai Typhoon Model, substantially enhancing typhoon intensity predictions while preserving track accuracy. This positions ISTM as an efficient AI emulator of hybrid modeling system, achieving fast and physically consistent downscaling. The proposed framework establishes a unified pathway for the co-evolution of AIWP and physics-based numerical models, advancing next-generation typhoon forecasting capabilities.

Machine Learning (ML)-Physics Fusion Model Outperforms Both Physics-Only and ML-Only Models in Typhoon Predictions

Data-driven machine learning (ML) models, such as FuXi, exhibit notable limitations in forecasting typhoon intensity and structure. This study presents a comprehensive evaluation of FuXi-SHTM, a hybrid ML-physics model, using all 2024 western North Pacific typhoon cases. The FuXi-SHTM hybrid demonstrates clear improvements in both track and intensity forecasts compared to the standalone SHTM, FuXi, and ECMWF HRES models. Compared to FuXi alone, FuXi-SHTM reduces typhoon track forecast errors by 16.5% and 5.2% at lead times of 72 h and 120 h, respectively, and reduces intensity forecast errors by 59.7% and 47.6%. Furthermore, FuXi-SHTM simulates cloud structures more realistically compared to SHTM, and achieves superior representation of the 10-m wind fields in both intensity and spatial structure compared to FuXi and SHTM. Increasing the resolution of FuXi-SHTM from 9 km to 3 km further enhances intensity forecasts, highlighting the critical role of the resolution of the physical model in advancing hybrid forecasting capabilities.

A Dual-Core Model for ENSO Diversity: Unifying Model Hierarchies for Realistic Simulations

Despite advances in climate modeling, simulating the El Ni\~no-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) remains challenging due to its spatiotemporal diversity and complexity. To address this, we build upon existing model hierarchies to develop a new unified modeling platform, which provides practical, scalable, and accurate tools for advancing ENSO research. Within this framework, we introduce a dual-core ENSO model (DCM) that integrates two widely used ENSO modeling approaches: a linear stochastic model confined to the equator and a nonlinear intermediate model extending off-equator. The stochastic model ensures computational efficiency and statistical accuracy. It captures essential ENSO characteristics and reproduces the observed non-Gaussian statistics. Meanwhile, the nonlinear model assimilates pseudo-observations from the stochastic model while resolving key air-sea interactions, such as feedback balances and spatial patterns of sea surface temperature anomalies (SSTA) during El Ni\~no peaks and improving western-central Pacific SSTA magnitudes and spatial accuracy. The DCM effectively captures the realistic dynamical and statistical features of the ENSO diversity and complexity. Notably, the computational efficiency of the DCM facilitates a rapid generation of extended ENSO datasets, overcoming observational limitations. The outcome facilitates the analysis of long-term variations, advancing our understanding of ENSO and many other climate phenomena.

X-CrossNet: A complex spectral mapping approach to target speaker extraction with cross attention speaker embedding fusion

Target speaker extraction (TSE) is a technique for isolating a target speaker's voice from mixed speech using auxiliary features associated with the target speaker. It is another attempt at addressing the cocktail party problem and is generally considered to have more practical application prospects than traditional speech separation methods. Although academic research in this area has achieved high performance and evaluation scores on public datasets, most models exhibit significantly reduced performance in real-world noisy or reverberant conditions. To address this limitation, we propose a novel TSE model, X-CrossNet, which leverages CrossNet as its backbone. CrossNet is a speech separation network specifically optimized for challenging noisy and reverberant environments, achieving state-of-the-art performance in tasks such as speaker separation under these conditions. Additionally, to enhance the network's ability to capture and utilize auxiliary features of the target speaker, we integrate a Cross-Attention mechanism into the global multi-head self-attention (GMHSA) module within each CrossNet block. This facilitates more effective integration of target speaker features with mixed speech features. Experimental results show that our method performs superior separation on the WSJ0-2mix and WHAMR! datasets, demonstrating strong robustness and stability.

AutoGLM: Autonomous Foundation Agents for GUIs

We present AutoGLM, a new series in the ChatGLM family, designed to serve as foundation agents for autonomous control of digital devices through Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs). While foundation models excel at acquiring human knowledge, they often struggle with decision-making in dynamic real-world environments, limiting their progress toward artificial general intelligence. This limitation underscores the importance of developing foundation agents capable of learning through autonomous environmental interactions by reinforcing existing models. Focusing on Web Browser and Phone as representative GUI scenarios, we have developed AutoGLM as a practical foundation agent system for real-world GUI interactions. Our approach integrates a comprehensive suite of techniques and infrastructures to create deployable agent systems suitable for user delivery. Through this development, we have derived two key insights: First, the design of an appropriate "intermediate interface" for GUI control is crucial, enabling the separation of planning and grounding behaviors, which require distinct optimization for flexibility and accuracy respectively. Second, we have developed a novel progressive training framework that enables self-evolving online curriculum reinforcement learning for AutoGLM. Our evaluations demonstrate AutoGLM's effectiveness across multiple domains. For web browsing, AutoGLM achieves a 55.2% success rate on VAB-WebArena-Lite (improving to 59.1% with a second attempt) and 96.2% on OpenTable evaluation tasks. In Android device control, AutoGLM attains a 36.2% success rate on AndroidLab (VAB-Mobile) and 89.7% on common tasks in popular Chinese APPs.

JEP-KD: Joint-Embedding Predictive Architecture Based Knowledge Distillation for Visual Speech Recognition

Visual Speech Recognition (VSR) tasks are generally recognized to have a lower theoretical performance ceiling than Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), owing to the inherent limitations of conveying semantic information visually. To mitigate this challenge, this paper introduces an advanced knowledge distillation approach using a Joint-Embedding Predictive Architecture (JEPA), named JEP-KD, designed to more effectively utilize audio features during model training. Central to JEP-KD is the inclusion of a generative network within the embedding layer, which enhances the video encoder's capacity for semantic feature extraction and brings it into closer alignment with the audio features from a pre-trained ASR model's encoder. This approach aims to progressively reduce the performance gap between VSR and ASR. Moreover, a comprehensive multimodal, multistage training regimen for the JEP-KD framework is established, bolstering the robustness and efficacy of the training process. Experiment results demonstrate that JEP-KD significantly improves the performance of VSR models and demonstrates versatility across different VSR platforms, indicating its potential for broader application within other multimodal tasks.

Weighted Joint Maximum Mean Discrepancy Enabled Multi-Source-Multi-Target Unsupervised Domain Adaptation Fault Diagnosis

Despite the remarkable results that can be achieved by data-driven intelligent fault diagnosis techniques, they presuppose the same distribution of training and test data as well as sufficient labeled data. Various operating states often exist in practical scenarios, leading to the problem of domain shift that hinders the effectiveness of fault diagnosis. While recent unsupervised domain adaptation methods enable cross-domain fault diagnosis, they struggle to effectively utilize information from multiple source domains and achieve effective diagnosis faults in multiple target domains simultaneously. In this paper, we innovatively proposed a weighted joint maximum mean discrepancy enabled multi-source-multi-target unsupervised domain adaptation (WJMMD-MDA), which realizes domain adaptation under multi-source-multi-target scenarios in the field of fault diagnosis for the first time. The proposed method extracts sufficient information from multiple labeled source domains and achieves domain alignment between source and target domains through an improved weighted distance loss. As a result, domain-invariant and discriminative features between multiple source and target domains are learned with cross-domain fault diagnosis realized. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated in comprehensive comparative experiments on three datasets, and the experimental results demonstrate the superiority of this method.

Hard Sample Mining Enabled Supervised Contrastive Feature Learning for Wind Turbine Pitch System Fault Diagnosis

The efficient utilization of wind power by wind turbines relies on the ability of their pitch systems to adjust blade pitch angles in response to varying wind speeds. However, the presence of multiple health conditions in the pitch system due to the long-term wear and tear poses challenges in accurately classifying them, thus increasing the maintenance cost of wind turbines or even damaging them. This paper proposes a novel method based on hard sample mining-enabled supervised contrastive learning (HSMSCL) to address this problem. The proposed method employs cosine similarity to identify hard samples and subsequently, leverages supervised contrastive learning to learn more discriminative representations by constructing hard sample pairs. Furthermore, the hard sample mining framework in the proposed method also constructs hard samples with learned representations to make the training process of the multilayer perceptron (MLP) more challenging and make it a more effective classifier. The proposed approach progressively improves the fault diagnosis model by introducing hard samples in the SCL and MLP phases, thus enhancing its performance in complex multi-class fault diagnosis tasks. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method, two real datasets comprising wind turbine pitch system cog belt fracture data are utilized. The fault diagnosis performance of the proposed method is compared against existing methods, and the results demonstrate its superior performance. The proposed approach exhibits significant improvements in fault diagnosis performance, providing promising prospects for enhancing the reliability and efficiency of wind turbine pitch system fault diagnosis.

The RoyalFlush System for the WMT 2022 Efficiency Task

This paper describes the submission of the RoyalFlush neural machine translation system for the WMT 2022 translation efficiency task. Unlike the commonly used autoregressive translation system, we adopted a two-stage translation paradigm called Hybrid Regression Translation (HRT) to combine the advantages of autoregressive and non-autoregressive translation. Specifically, HRT first autoregressively generates a discontinuous sequence (e.g., make a prediction every $k$ tokens, $k>1$) and then fills in all previously skipped tokens at once in a non-autoregressive manner. Thus, we can easily trade off the translation quality and speed by adjusting $k$. In addition, by integrating other modeling techniques (e.g., sequence-level knowledge distillation and deep-encoder-shallow-decoder layer allocation strategy) and a mass of engineering efforts, HRT improves 80\% inference speed and achieves equivalent translation performance with the same-capacity AT counterpart. Our fastest system reaches 6k+ words/second on the GPU latency setting, estimated to be about 3.1x faster than the last year's winner.

BDTS: Blockchain-based Data Trading System

Trading data through blockchain platforms is hard to achieve \textit{fair exchange}. Reasons come from two folds: Firstly, guaranteeing fairness between sellers and consumers is a challenging task as the deception of any participating parties is risk-free. This leads to the second issue where judging the behavior of data executors (such as cloud service providers) among distrustful parties is impractical in the context of traditional trading protocols. To fill the gaps, in this paper, we present a \underline{b}lockchain-based \underline{d}ata \underline{t}rading \underline{s}ystem, named BDTS. BDTS implements a fair-exchange protocol in which benign behaviors can get rewarded while dishonest behaviors will be punished. Our scheme requires the seller to provide consumers with the correct encryption keys for proper execution and encourage a rational data executor to behave faithfully for maximum benefits from rewards. We analyze the strategies of consumers, sellers, and dealers in the trading game and point out that everyone should be honest about their interests so that the game will reach Nash equilibrium. Evaluations prove efficiency and practicability.

Slow-varying Dynamics Assisted Temporal Capsule Network for Machinery Remaining Useful Life Estimation

Capsule network (CapsNet) acts as a promising alternative to the typical convolutional neural network, which is the dominant network to develop the remaining useful life (RUL) estimation models for mechanical equipment. Although CapsNet comes with an impressive ability to represent the entities' hierarchical relationships through a high-dimensional vector embedding, it fails to capture the long-term temporal correlation of run-to-failure time series measured from degraded mechanical equipment. On the other hand, the slow-varying dynamics, which reveals the low-frequency information hidden in mechanical dynamical behaviour, is overlooked in the existing RUL estimation models, limiting the utmost ability of advanced networks. To address the aforementioned concerns, we propose a Slow-varying Dynamics assisted Temporal CapsNet (SD-TemCapsNet) to simultaneously learn the slow-varying dynamics and temporal dynamics from measurements for accurate RUL estimation. First, in light of the sensitivity of fault evolution, slow-varying features are decomposed from normal raw data to convey the low-frequency components corresponding to the system dynamics. Next, the long short-term memory (LSTM) mechanism is introduced into CapsNet to capture the temporal correlation of time series. To this end, experiments conducted on an aircraft engine and a milling machine verify that the proposed SD-TemCapsNet outperforms the mainstream methods. In comparison with CapsNet, the estimation accuracy of the aircraft engine with four different scenarios has been improved by 10.17%, 24.97%, 3.25%, and 13.03% concerning the index root mean squared error, respectively. Similarly, the estimation accuracy of the milling machine has been improved by 23.57% compared to LSTM and 19.54% compared to CapsNet.

Handwritten Mathematical Expression Recognition via Attention Aggregation based Bi-directional Mutual Learning

Handwritten mathematical expression recognition aims to automatically generate LaTeX sequences from given images. Currently, attention-based encoder-decoder models are widely used in this task. They typically generate target sequences in a left-to-right (L2R) manner, leaving the right-to-left (R2L) contexts unexploited. In this paper, we propose an Attention aggregation based Bi-directional Mutual learning Network (ABM) which consists of one shared encoder and two parallel inverse decoders (L2R and R2L). The two decoders are enhanced via mutual distillation, which involves one-to-one knowledge transfer at each training step, making full use of the complementary information from two inverse directions. Moreover, in order to deal with mathematical symbols in diverse scales, an Attention Aggregation Module (AAM) is proposed to effectively integrate multi-scale coverage attentions. Notably, in the inference phase, given that the model already learns knowledge from two inverse directions, we only use the L2R branch for inference, keeping the original parameter size and inference speed. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our proposed approach achieves the recognition accuracy of 56.85 % on CROHME 2014, 52.92 % on CROHME 2016, and 53.96 % on CROHME 2019 without data augmentation and model ensembling, substantially outperforming the state-of-the-art methods. The source code is available in https://github.com/XH-B/ABM.
