Semi-Cooperative Passive Integrated Sensing and Communication by Utilizing Physical Layer Information of 5G Signals

In recent years, integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) has attracted significant attention towards future cellular networks. Currently, various works have demonstrated sensing performance in existing wireless communication systems. Most of the demonstrations are based on passive type due to the radio regulatory. However, because of the difficulty in access to the communication protocol stacks in commercial cellular systems, the evaluation of the cellular communication signals for semi-cooperative passive ISAC is limited. In this paper, a semi-cooperative passive ISAC system is developed with open-source 5G framework and software-defined radio devices. And the performance is experimentally evaluated by utilizing the physical layer information of actual 5G signals from the developed system. In this system, communication is established with 5G signals and physical layer information are obtained and extracted for analysis. The performance of the system is verified by conducting experiments under several communication scenarios including the synchronization, pinging, and data transmission. Different physical layer information is collected, and the propagation characteristics are analyzed by a multi-path configuration. The experiment results demonstrated that variable bandwidths were utilized for different communication scenarios and the multipath was successfully detected with two different approaches. These results show that the developed system is promising for semi-cooperative passive ISAC in wider application fields

FU-Mamba: A Frequency-Enhanced Dynamic Scanning Framework for Oralscan Image Segmentation

Oralscan image segmentation is essential for computer-aided diagnosis and treatment planning in digital dentistry. However, existing visual state space models (SSMs) often rely on manually designed scanning orders to flatten image patches into sequences, which disrupts the semantic spatial continuity and hinders coherent feature extraction from key foreground regions. Moreover, elements such as inconsistent lighting, reflective surfaces, and noise during data acquisition disrupt the frequency distribution by diminishing high-frequency details while enhancing low-frequency components, consequently hindering the accurate localization of boundaries. In response to these challenges, we introduce FU-Mamba, an innovative framework that incorporates dynamic scanning and frequency domain enhancement within the SSM architecture. Specifically, the Dynamic Mamba Block (DMB) adaptively learns sampling offsets via a trainable offset prediction network and performs flexible bilinear interpolation, enabling content-aware scanning that preserves spatial coherence. Furthermore, a frequency domain enhancement block balances spectral components through wavelet-guided decomposition and spectrum pooling, improving robustness under adverse imaging conditions. Experimental findings indicate that FU-Mamba attains a notable enhancement in segmentation accuracy, evidenced by a 1.1% increase in the mean intersection over union (mIoU) metric when evaluated on the dental segmentation dataset. Anchoring on Reality: Breaking the Pseudo-Target Ceiling in Makeup Transfer

Makeup transfer applies a reference cosmetic style to a source face while preserving its identity and geometry. However, this task is severely hindered by the lack of real paired training data. Current methods rely on either weak priors or synthetic pseudo-targets from large-scale editing models. These paradigms provide suboptimal guidance, often leading to degraded fine-grained details, synthetic artifacts, and identity drift. To this end, we propose Anchoring on Reality Makeup Transfer (ART), a two-stage framework with a reality-anchored refinement cycle. In Stage I, the model is initialized with pseudo-targets to establish basic semantic alignment and global makeup placement. Crucially, Stage II shifts supervision from pseudo-targets to the real reference, reconstructing it from its bare-skin counterpart through a differentiable cycle that penalizes any omitted detail and overrides synthetic artifacts. Furthermore, we introduce MakeupFaces2K (MF2K), the first 2K-resolution in-the-wild makeup portrait dataset comprising 8,573 images. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves superior makeup fidelity, strong background stability, and robust identity preservation, especially for complex makeup styles.

HDRFace: Rethinking Face Restoration with High-Dimensional Representation

Face restoration under complex degradations still remains an ill-posed inverse problem due to severe information loss. Although diffusion models benefit from strong generative priors, most methods still condition only on low-quality inputs, making it difficult to recover identity-critical details under heavy degradations. In this work, we propose HDRFace, a High-Dimensional Representation conditioned Face restoration framework that injects semantically rich priors into the conditional flow without modifying the generative backbone. Our pipeline first obtains a structurally reliable intermediate restoration with an off-the-shelf restorer, then uses a pretrained high-dimensional feature encoder to extract fine-grained facial representations from both the low-quality input and the intermediate result, and injects them as additional conditions for generation. We further introduce SDFM, a Structure-Detail aware adaptive Fusion Mechanism that emphasizes global constraints during structure modeling and strengthens representation guidance during detail synthesis, balancing structural consistency and detail fidelity. To validate the generalization ability of our method, we implement the proposed framework on two generative models, SD V2.1-base and Qwen-Image, and consistently observe stable and coherent performance gains across different architectures.

Hybrid Physical and Geometrical Optics Method for Modeling Subsurface Imaging Using mmWave FMCW Radar

A hybrid physical and geometrical optics method is proposed to model the subsurface imaging using mmWave FMCW radar. Modeling of the wave propagation for subsurface imaging can improve the interpretation of acquired data and imaging results. Full-wave simulation is common in simulating wave propagation. However, when the frequency is high such as mmWave frequency, it is difficult to implement since it costs large computation resource and time. In this paper, the physical and geometrical optics are hybridized to simulate the wave propagation in subsurface imaging scenarios. In the proposed method, physical optics method is utilized to calculate the reflection from the object and geometrical optics method is utilized to calculate the transmission of the wave through object. By combining the results from physical and geometrical optics, the wave propagation in the subsurface imaging scenarios is simulated. The synthetic-aperture radar imaging is applied to the simulated data and the image is successfully reconstructed. Further, the experiment setup is developed and the comparison between simulation and experiment is carried out. The results demonstrated that the proposed simulation method can model the subsurface imaging with mmWave FMCW radar.

EVECTOR: An orchestrator for analysing attacks in electric vehicles charging system

Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure is critical for the widespread adoption of EVs, ensuring efficient and secure charging processes. Evaluating the security and performance of EV charging systems in real-world infrastructure poses significant challenges due to the diversity of information exchange between vehicles and charging stations/Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), including complex network protocols, scale of deployment and a variety of potential threats. Existing simulation frameworks are unable to handle complex security scenarios across these differing data exchange protocols. In this paper, we propose a novel EV orchestration framework: EVECTOR, which addresses the limitations of existing simulation systems by enabling both quantitative and qualitative analyses of EV charging scenarios. EVECTOR also provides a flexible attack orchestrator to simulate realistic attack behaviours on EV charging infrastructure. We validate the EVECTOR framework through two case studies: (a) cyber-physical attacks such as broken wire; and (b) cyber-specific attacks such as frame fuzzification. The case studies highlight the effectiveness of EVECTOR in providing deeper insights into the security and performance of EV charging systems.

Performance Evaluation of Low-Latency Live Streaming of MPEG-DASH UHD video over Commercial 5G NSA/SA Network

5G Standalone (SA) is the goal of the 5G evolution, which aims to provide higher throughput and lower latency than the existing LTE network. One of the main applications of 5G is the real-time distribution of Ultra High-Definition (UHD) content with a resolution of 4K or 8K. In Q2/2021, Advanced Info Service (AIS), the biggest operator in Thailand, launched 5G SA, providing both 5G SA/NSA service nationwide in addition to the existing LTE network. While many parts of the world are still in process of rolling out the first phase of 5G in Non-Standalone (NSA) mode, 5G SA in Thailand already covers more than 76% of the population. In this paper, UHD video will be a real-time live streaming via MPEG-DASH over different mobile network technologies with minimal buffer size to provide the lowest latency. Then, performance such as the number of dropped segments, MAC throughput, and latency are evaluated in various situations such as stationary, moving in the urban area, moving at high speed, and also an ideal condition with maximum SINR. It has been found that 5G SA can deliver more than 95% of the UHD video segment successfully within the required time window in all situations, while 5G NSA produced mixed results depending on the condition of the LTE network. The result also reveals that the LTE network failed to deliver more than 20% of the video segment within the deadline, which shows that 5G SA is absolutely necessary for low-latency UHD video streaming and 5G NSA may not be good enough for such task as it relies on the legacy control signal.

A Passive Software-Defined Radio-based mmWave Sensing System for Blind Integrated Communication and Sensing

Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) is considered as a key component of future 6G technologies, especially in the millimeter-wave (mmWave) bands. Recently, the performances of ISAC were experimentally evaluated and demonstrated in various scenarios by developing ISAC systems. These systems generally consist of coherent transmitting (Tx) and receiving (Rx) modules. However, actively transmitting radio waves for experiments is not easy due to regulatory restrictions of radio. Meanwhile, the Tx/Rx should be synchronized and Rx need the information of Tx. In this paper, a fully passive mmWave sensing system is developed with software-defined radio for blind ISAC. It only consists of a passive Rx module which does not depend on the Tx. Since the proposed system is not synchronized with Tx and has no knowledge of the transmitted signals, a differential structure with two oppositely-oriented receivers is introduced to realize the sensing function. This structure can mitigate the influences of unknown source signals and other distortions. With the proposed sensing system, the ambient mmWave communication signals are leveraged for sensing without interrupting the existing systems. It can be deployed for field applications such as signal detection and dynamic human activity recognition since it does not emit signals. The efficacy of the developed system is first verified with a metallic plate with known motion pattern. The measured Doppler spectrogram shows good agreement with the simulation results, demonstrating the correctness of the sensing results. Further, the system is evaluated in complex scenarios, including handwaving, single- and multi-person motion detection. The sensing results successfully reflect the corresponding motions, demonstrating that the proposed sensing system can be utilized for blind ISAC in various applications.

FedSCA: Federated Tuning with Similarity-guided Collaborative Aggregation for Heterogeneous Medical Image Segmentation

Transformer-based foundation models (FMs) have recently demonstrated remarkable performance in medical image segmentation. However, scaling these models is challenging due to the limited size of medical image datasets within isolated hospitals, where data centralization is restricted due to privacy concerns. These constraints, combined with the data-intensive nature of FMs, hinder their broader application. Integrating federated learning (FL) with foundation models (FLFM) fine-tuning offers a potential solution to these challenges by enabling collaborative model training without data sharing, thus allowing FMs to take advantage of a diverse pool of sensitive medical image data across hospitals/clients. However, non-independent and identically distributed (non-IID) data among clients, paired with computational and communication constraints in federated environments, presents an additional challenge that limits further performance improvements and remains inadequately addressed in existing studies. In this work, we propose a novel FLFM fine-tuning framework, \underline{\textbf{Fed}}erated tuning with \underline{\textbf{S}}imilarity-guided \underline{\textbf{C}}ollaborative \underline{\textbf{A}}ggregation (FedSCA), encompassing all phases of the FL process. This includes (1) specially designed parameter-efficient fine-tuning (PEFT) for local client training to enhance computational efficiency; (2) partial low-level adapter transmission for communication efficiency; and (3) similarity-guided collaborative aggregation (SGCA) on the server side to address non-IID issues. Extensive experiments on three FL benchmarks for medical image segmentation demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed FedSCA, establishing new SOTA performance.

Exemplar-condensed Federated Class-incremental Learning

We propose Exemplar-Condensed federated class-incremental learning (ECoral) to distil the training characteristics of real images from streaming data into informative rehearsal exemplars. The proposed method eliminates the limitations of exemplar selection in replay-based approaches for mitigating catastrophic forgetting in federated continual learning (FCL). The limitations particularly related to the heterogeneity of information density of each summarized data. Our approach maintains the consistency of training gradients and the relationship to past tasks for the summarized exemplars to represent the streaming data compared to the original images effectively. Additionally, our approach reduces the information-level heterogeneity of the summarized data by inter-client sharing of the disentanglement generative model. Extensive experiments show that our ECoral outperforms several state-of-the-art methods and can be seamlessly integrated with many existing approaches to enhance performance.

Do We Need iPhone Moment or Xiaomi Moment for Robots? Design of Affordable Home Robots for Health Monitoring

In this paper, we study cost-effective home robot solutions which are designed for home health monitoring. The recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) have significantly advanced the capabilities of the robots, enabling them to better and efficiently understand and interact with their surroundings. The most common robots currently used in homes are toy robots and cleaning robots. While these are relatively affordable, their functionalities are very limited. On the other hand, humanoid and quadruped robots offer more sophisticated features and capabilities, albeit at a much higher cost. Another category is educational robots, which provide educators with the flexibility to attach various sensors and integrate different design methods with the integrated operating systems. However, the challenge still exists in bridging the gap between affordability and functionality. Our research aims to address this by exploring the potential of developing advanced yet affordable and accessible robots for home robots, aiming for health monitoring, by using edge computing techniques and taking advantage of existing computing resources for home robots, such as mobile phones.

Fusion Flow-enhanced Graph Pooling Residual Networks for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Surveillance in Day and Night Dual Visions

Recognizing unauthorized Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) within designated no-fly zones throughout the day and night is of paramount importance, where the unauthorized UAVs pose a substantial threat to both civil and military aviation safety. However, recognizing UAVs day and night with dual-vision cameras is nontrivial, since red-green-blue (RGB) images suffer from a low detection rate under an insufficient light condition, such as on cloudy or stormy days, while black-and-white infrared (IR) images struggle to capture UAVs that overlap with the background at night. In this paper, we propose a new optical flow-assisted graph-pooling residual network (OF-GPRN), which significantly enhances the UAV detection rate in day and night dual visions. The proposed OF-GPRN develops a new optical fusion to remove superfluous backgrounds, which improves RGB/IR imaging clarity. Furthermore, OF-GPRN extends optical fusion by incorporating a graph residual split attention network and a feature pyramid, which refines the perception of UAVs, leading to a higher success rate in UAV detection. A comprehensive performance evaluation is conducted using a benchmark UAV catch dataset. The results indicate that the proposed OF-GPRN elevates the UAV mean average precision (mAP) detection rate to 87.8%, marking a 17.9% advancement compared to the residual graph neural network (ResGCN)-based approach.

ExactDreamer: High-Fidelity Text-to-3D Content Creation via Exact Score Matching

Text-to-3D content creation is a rapidly evolving research area. Given the scarcity of 3D data, current approaches often adapt pre-trained 2D diffusion models for 3D synthesis. Among these approaches, Score Distillation Sampling (SDS) has been widely adopted. However, the issue of over-smoothing poses a significant limitation on the high-fidelity generation of 3D models. To address this challenge, LucidDreamer replaces the Denoising Diffusion Probabilistic Model (DDPM) in SDS with the Denoising Diffusion Implicit Model (DDIM) to construct Interval Score Matching (ISM). However, ISM inevitably inherits inconsistencies from DDIM, causing reconstruction errors during the DDIM inversion process. This results in poor performance in the detailed generation of 3D objects and loss of content. To alleviate these problems, we propose a novel method named Exact Score Matching (ESM). Specifically, ESM leverages auxiliary variables to mathematically guarantee exact recovery in the DDIM reverse process. Furthermore, to effectively capture the dynamic changes of the original and auxiliary variables, the LoRA of a pre-trained diffusion model implements these exact paths. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of ESM in text-to-3D generation, particularly highlighting its superiority in detailed generation.

From Sora What We Can See: A Survey of Text-to-Video Generation

With impressive achievements made, artificial intelligence is on the path forward to artificial general intelligence. Sora, developed by OpenAI, which is capable of minute-level world-simulative abilities can be considered as a milestone on this developmental path. However, despite its notable successes, Sora still encounters various obstacles that need to be resolved. In this survey, we embark from the perspective of disassembling Sora in text-to-video generation, and conducting a comprehensive review of literature, trying to answer the question, \textit{From Sora What We Can See}. Specifically, after basic preliminaries regarding the general algorithms are introduced, the literature is categorized from three mutually perpendicular dimensions: evolutionary generators, excellent pursuit, and realistic panorama. Subsequently, the widely used datasets and metrics are organized in detail. Last but more importantly, we identify several challenges and open problems in this domain and propose potential future directions for research and development.

Small Distance Increment Method for Measuring Complex Permittivity With mmWave Radar

Measuring the complex permittivity of material is essential in many scenarios such as quality check and component analysis. Generally, measurement methods for characterizing the material are based on the usage of vector network analyzer, which is large and not easy for on-site measurement, especially in high frequency range such as millimeter wave (mmWave). In addition, some measurement methods require the destruction of samples, which is not suitable for non-destructive inspection. In this work, a small distance increment (SDI) method is proposed to non-destructively measure the complex permittivity of material. In SDI, the transmitter and receiver are formed as the monostatic radar, which is facing towards the material under test (MUT). During the measurement, the distance between radar and MUT changes with small increments and the signals are recorded at each position. A mathematical model is formulated to depict the relationship among the complex permittivity, distance increment, and measured signals. By fitting the model, the complex permittivity of MUT is estimated. To implement and evaluate the proposed SDI method, a commercial off-the-shelf mmWave radar is utilized and the measurement system is developed. Then, the evaluation was carried out on the acrylic plate. With the proposed method, the estimated complex permittivity of acrylic plate shows good agreement with the literature values, demonstrating the efficacy of SDI method for characterizing the complex permittivity of material.

Dynamical State Feedback Control for Linear Input Delay Systems, Part I: Dissipative Stabilization via Semidefinite Programming

We propose an SDP-based framework to address the stabilization of input delay systems while taking into account dissipative constraints. A key to our approach is the introduction of the concept of parameterized linear dynamical state feedbacks (LDSFs), which draws inspiration from recent advancements in the analyses of distributed delays. The parameterized LDSFs generalize conventional predictor controllers, where the interpretation of state prediction is concealed and their degree of parameterization can be increased by adjusting the integral kernels. A sufficient condition for the existence of dissipative LDSFs is formulated as matrix inequalities by constructing a complete type Krasovski\u{\i} functional. To solve the bilinear matrix inequality in the synthesis condition, we employ an off-line inner convex approximation algorithm that can be initialized using the gains of predictor controllers obtained via explicit construction. So the unknowns of our LTDS can be computed by solving convex semidefinite programs. Numerical examples and simulations were experimented to demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of our methodology.

Evaluation of ChatGPT-Generated Medical Responses: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Large language models such as ChatGPT are increasingly explored in medical domains. However, the absence of standard guidelines for performance evaluation has led to methodological inconsistencies. This study aims to summarize the available evidence on evaluating ChatGPT's performance in medicine and provide direction for future research. We searched ten medical literature databases on June 15, 2023, using the keyword "ChatGPT". A total of 3520 articles were identified, of which 60 were reviewed and summarized in this paper and 17 were included in the meta-analysis. The analysis showed that ChatGPT displayed an overall integrated accuracy of 56% (95% CI: 51%-60%, I2 = 87%) in addressing medical queries. However, the studies varied in question resource, question-asking process, and evaluation metrics. Moreover, many studies failed to report methodological details, including the version of ChatGPT and whether each question was used independently or repeatedly. Our findings revealed that although ChatGPT demonstrated considerable potential for application in healthcare, the heterogeneity of the studies and insufficient reporting may affect the reliability of these results. Further well-designed studies with comprehensive and transparent reporting are needed to evaluate ChatGPT's performance in medicine.

Distributed event-triggered aggregative optimization with applications to price-based energy management

This paper studies a distributed continuous-time aggregative optimization problem, which is a fundamental problem in the price-based energy management. The objective of the distributed aggregative optimization is to minimize the sum of local objective functions, which have a specific expression that relies on agents' own decisions and the aggregation of all agents' decisions. To solve the problem, a novel distributed continuous-time algorithm is proposed by combining gradient dynamics with a dynamic average consensus estimator in a two-time scale. The exponential convergence of the proposed algorithm is established under the assumption of a convex global cost function by virtue of the stability theory of singular perturbation systems. Motivated by practical applications, the implementation of the continuous-time algorithm with event-triggered communication is investigated. Simulations on the price-based energy management of distributed energy resources are given to illustrate the proposed method.
