Magnetic noise around metallic microstructures

We compute the local spectrum of the magnetic field near a metallic microstructure at finite temperature. Our main focus is on deviations from a plane-layered geometry for which we review the main properties. Arbitrary geometries are handled with the help of numerical calculations based on surface integral equations. The magnetic noise shows a significant polarization anisotropy above flat wires with finite lateral width, in stark contrast to an infinitely wide wire. Within the limits of a two-dimensional setting, our results provide accurate estimates for loss and dephasing rates in so-called `atom chip traps' based on metallic wires. A simple approximation based on the incoherent summation of local current elements gives qualitative agreement with the numerics, but fails to describe current correlations among neighboring objects.

The dispersive contribution of $ρ(1450,1700)$ decays and X(1576)

We study whether the broad enhancement X(1576) arises from the final state interaction (FSI) of $ρ(1450,1700)\to ρ^+ρ^-\to K^{+}K^{-}$ decays. We consider both the absorptive and dispersive contribution of the above amplitudes since the intermediate states are very close to $ρ(1450,1700)$. The same mechanism leads to a similar enhancement around 1580 MeV in the $π^{+}π^-$ spectrum in the $J/ψ\to π^{0}π^{+}π^{-}$ channel, which can be used to test whether X(1576) can be ascribed to the FSI effect of $ρ(1450,1700)\to ρ^+ρ^-$.

X(1576) and the Final State Interaction Effect

We study whether the broad peak X(1576) observed by BES Collaboration arises from the final state interaction effect of $ρ(1450,1700)$ decays. The interference effect could produce an enhancement around 1540 MeV in the $K^+K^-$ spectrum with typical interference phases. However, the branching ratio $B[J/ψ\to π^{0}ρ(1450,1700)]\cdot B[ρ(1450,1700)\to K^{+}K^{-}]$ from the final state interaction effect is far less than the experimental data.

$D_{sJ}(2860)$ and $D_{sJ}(2715)$

Recently Babar Collaboration reported a new $c\bar{s}$ state $D_{sJ}(2860)$ and Belle Collaboration observed $D_{sJ}(2715)$. We investigate the strong decays of the excited $c\bar{s}$ states using the $^{3}P_{0}$ model. After comparing the theoretical decay widths and decay patterns with the available experimental data, we tend to conclude: (1) $D_{sJ}(2715)$ is probably the $1^{-}(1^{3}D_{1})$ $c\bar{s}$ state although the $1^{-}(2^{3}S_{1})$ assignment is not completely excluded; (2) $D_{sJ}(2860)$ seems unlikely to be the $1^{-}(2^{3}S_{1})$ and $1^{-}(1^{3}D_{1})$ candidate; (3) $D_{sJ}(2860)$ as either a $0^{+}(2^{3}P_{0})$ or $3^{-}(1^{3}D_{3})$ $c\bar{s}$ state is consistent with the experimental data; (4) experimental search of $D_{sJ}(2860)$ in the channels $D_sη$, $DK^{*}$, $D^{*}K$ and $D_{s}^{*}η$ will be crucial to distinguish the above two possibilities.

The Hidden Charm Decay of $X(3872), Y(3940)$ and Final State Interaction Effects

We investigate whether the final state interaction (FSI) effect plays a significant role in the large hidden charm decay width of X(3872) and Y(3940) using a model. Our numerical result suggests (1) the FSI contribution to $X(3872)\to J/ψρ$ is tiny; (2) $Γ[ Y(3940)\to D\bar{D}^{*}+\text{h.c.}\to J/ψω]$ from FSI is around several keV, far less than Belle's experimental value 7 MeV.

The yields of r-process elements and chemical evolution of the Galaxy

The supernova yields of r-process elements are obtained as a function of the mass of their progenitor stars from the abundance patterns of extremely metal-poor stars on the left-side [Ba/Mg]-[Mg/H] boundary with a procedure proposed by Tsujimoto and Shigeyama. The ejected masses of r-process elements associated with stars of progenitor mass $M_{ms}\leq18M_{\odot}$ are infertile sources and the SNe II with 20$M_{\odot}\leq M_{ms}\leq 40M_{\odot}$are the dominant source of r-process nucleosynthesis in the Galaxy. The ratio of these stars 20$M_{\odot}\leq M_{ms}\leq40M_{\odot}$ with compared to the all massive stars is about $\sim$18%. In this paper, we present a simple model that describes a star's [r/Fe] in terms of the nucleosynthesis yields of r-process elements and the number of SN II explosions. Combined the r-process yields obtained by our procedure with the scatter model of the Galactic halo, the observed abundance patterns of the metal-poor stars can be well reproduced

Well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for the fractional power dissipative equations

This paper studies the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear fractional power dissipative equation $u_t+(-\triangle)^αu= F(u)$ for initial data in the Lebesgue space $L^r(\mr^n)$ with $\ds r\ge r_d\triangleq{nb}/({2α-d})$ or the homogeneous Besov space $\ds\dot{B}^{-σ}_{p,\infty}(\mr^n)$ with $\dsσ=(2α-d)/b-n/p$ and $1\le p\le \infty$, where $α>0$, $F(u)=f(u)$ or $Q(D)f(u)$ with $Q(D)$ being a homogeneous pseudo-differential operator of order $d\in[0,2α)$ and $f(u)$ is a function of $u$ which behaves like $|u|^bu$ with $b>0$.

Neutron-capture elements in the s- and r-process-rich stars: Constraints on neutron-capture nucleosynthesis processes

The chemical abundances of the very metal-poor double-enhanced stars are excellent information for setting new constraints on models of neutron-capture processes at low metallicity. These stars are known as s+r stars, since they show enhancements of both s-process and r-process elements. The observed abundance ratios for the double-enhanced stars can be explained by those of stars that were polluted by an AGB star and subsequently accreted very significant amounts of r-process material out of an AIC (accretion-induced collapse) or Type 1.5 supernova. In this paper we present for the first time an attempt to fit the elemental abundances observed in the s- and r-rich, very metal-poor stars using a parametric model and suggest a new concept of component coefficients to describe the contributions of the individual neutron-capture processes to double-enhanced stars. We find that the abundance ratios of these stars are best fitted by enrichments of s- and r-process material. The overlap factor in the AGB stars where the observed s-process elements were produced lies between 0.1 and 0.81. Taking into account the dependence of the initial-final mass relations on metallicity, this wide range of values could possibly be explained by a wide range of core-mass values of AGB stars at low metallicity. The component coefficient of the r-process is strongly correlated with the component coefficient of the s-process for the double-enhanced stars. This is significant evidence that the r-process material in double-enhanced stars comes from an AIC or Type 1.5 supernova.

The origin of the lead-rich stars in Galactic halo: investigation of the model parameters for the s-process

Several stars at the low-metallicity extreme of the Galactic halo show large spreads of [Pb/hs]. Theoretically, a s-process pattern should be obtained from an AGB star with fixed metallicity and initial mass. For the third dredge-up and the s-process model, several important properties depend primarily on the core mass of AGB stars. Zijlstra (2004) reported that the initial-final-mass relation steepens at low metallicity, due to low mass-loss efficiency. This perhaps affects the model parameters of the AGB stars, e.g. the overlap factor and the neutron irradiation time, in particular at low metallicity. The calculated results show indeed that the overlap factor and the neutron irradiation time are significantly small at low metallicities, especially for 3.0Msun AGB stars. The scatter of [Pb/hs] found in low metallicities can therefore be explained naturally when varying the initial mass of the low-mass AGB stars.

Experimental Implementation of the Deutsch-Jozsa Algorithm for Three-Qubit Functions using Pure Coherent Molecular Superpositions

The Deutsch-Jozsa algorithm is experimentally demonstrated for three-qubit functions using pure coherent superpositions of Li$_{2}$ rovibrational eigenstates. The function's character, either constant or balanced, is evaluated by first imprinting the function, using a phase-shaped femtosecond pulse, on a coherent superposition of the molecular states, and then projecting the superposition onto an ionic final state, using a second femtosecond pulse at a specific time delay.

Light-Cone Gauge Quantization of String Theories on $AdS_3$ Space

Light-cone gauge quantization procedures are given, for superstring theory on $AdS_3$ space charged with NS-NS background, both in NSR and GS formalism. The spacetime (super)conformal algebras are constructed in terms of the transversal physical degrees of freedom. The spacetime conformal anomaly agrees with that of covariant formalism, provided that the worldsheet conformal anomaly $c$ equals 26 or 15 for bosonic string or superstring, respectively. The spacetime (super)conformal field theory is found to correspond to orbifold construction on symmetric product space $\it{Sym_p} {\cal{M}}/Z_p$.
