Translationally Covariant Modulated Symmetries: Classification and Goldstone

Modulated symmetries are global symmetries with a spatially dependent unit of charge, such as the dipole symmetry and the exponential symmetry. We give the generic condition for a modulated symmetry to be compatible with translationally symmetric Hamiltonians, which we define as a translationally covariant modulated symmetry (TCMS). For Abelian TCMSs, we prove that their units of charge can only contain multipole, exponential and harmonic components. Particularly, we classify all the one-dimensional TCMSs by real Jordan normal form blocks. We further derive the generic Goldstone action for SSB phases of continuous TCMSs, by which we show that a broken multipole symmetry gives higher-order gapless Goldstone modes, a broken harmonic symmetry gives gapless Goldstone modes at finite momenta, and a broken exponential symmetry gives no gapless Goldstone modes, modifying the conventional Goldstone theorem.

Quantum Hilbert Space Fragmentation and Entangled Frozen States

We find that rank deficiency of the local Hamiltonian in a classically fragmented model is the key mechanism leading to quantum Hilbert space fragmentation. The rank deficiency produces local null directions that can generate entangled frozen states (EFS): entangled states embedded in mobile classical Krylov sectors that do not evolve under Hamiltonian dynamics. When the entangled frozen subspace is non-empty, the mobile classical sector splits into a mobile quantum Krylov subspace and an entangled frozen subspace, and the model exhibits quantum fragmentation. We establish this mechanism in four models of increasing symmetry structure: an asymmetric qubit projector with no symmetry, the $\mathbb{Z}_2$-symmetric GHZ projector, a $\mathbb{Z}_3$-symmetric cyclic qutrit projector, and the Temperley-Lieb model. For the asymmetric and GHZ projector models, we obtain closed-form expressions for irreducible Krylov dimensions, degeneracies, and sector multiplicities. The all-mobile-sector EFS in these two models exhibits a sub-volume-law bipartite entanglement entropy scaling as $S \sim \sqrt{L}$. Further, we introduce the notion of weak and strong quantum fragmentation, the quantum counterpart of the weak-strong distinction in classical fragmentation. After removing the EFS, the mobile quantum Krylov subspace decomposes into irreducible blocks. In the weak case, the number of irreducible blocks remains $O(1)$, each is individually ergodic with Gaussian Orthogonal Ensemble (GOE) level statistics, and the unresolved spectrum follows an $m$GOE distribution. In the strong case, the number of irreducible blocks grows with system size, and the gap-ratio distribution approaches Poisson as $L\to\infty$.

Bridging Commutant and Polynomial Methods for Hilbert Space Fragmentation

A quantum model exhibits Hilbert space fragmentation (HSF) if its Hilbert space decomposes into exponentially many dynamically disconnected subspaces, known as Krylov subspaces. A model may however have different HSFs depending on the method for identifying them. Here we establish a connection between two vastly distinct methods recently proposed for identifying HSF: the commutant algebra (CA) method and integer characteristic polynomial factorization (ICPF) method. For a Hamiltonian consisting of operators admitting rational number matrix representations, we prove a theorem that, if its center of commutant algebra have all eigenvalues being rational, the HSF from the ICPF method must be equal to or finer than that from the CA method. We show that this condition is satisfied by most known models exhibiting HSF, for which we demonstrate the validity of our theorem. We further discuss representative models for which ICPF and CA methods yield different HSFs. Our results may facilitate the exploration of a unified definition of HSF.

Flat space Fermionic Wave-function coefficients

In this work we analyze the analytic structure of tree-level flat-space wavefunction coefficients (WFCs), with particular attention to fermionic operators, and derive cutting rules for internal-fermion lines. Building on these results, we set up an iterative procedure that, starting from the flat-space S-matrix, reconstructs the 3- and 4-point WFCs with the correct partial- and total-energy poles and satisfying the requisite cutting rules. Consequently, the "four-particle test" for flat-space WFCs imposes no additional constraints beyond the consistency of the flat-space S-matrix.

Intervalley-Coupled Twisted Bilayer Graphene from Substrate Commensuration

We show that intervalley coupling can be induced in twisted bilayer graphene (TBG) by aligning the bottom graphene layer with either of two types of commensurate insulating triangular Bravais lattice substrate. The intervalley coupling folds the $\pm K$ valleys of TBG to the $\Gamma$-point and hybridizes the original TBG flat bands into a four-band model equivalent to the $p_x$-$p_y$ orbital honeycomb lattice model, in which the second conduction and valence bands have quadratic band touchings and can become flat due to geometric frustration. The spin-orbit coupling from the substrate opens gaps between the bands, yielding topological bands with spin Chern numbers $\mathcal{C}$ up to $\pm 4$. For realistic substrate potential strengths, the minimal bandwidths of the hybridized flat bands are still achieved around the TBG magic angle $\theta_M=1.05^\circ$, and their quantum metrics are nearly ideal. We identify two candidate substrate materials Sb$_2$Te$_3$ and GeSb$_2$Te$_4$, which nearly perfectly realize the commensurate lattice constant ratio of $\sqrt{3}$ with graphene. These systems provide a promising platform for exploring strongly correlated topological states driven by geometric frustration.

Quantum Fragmentation in the Extended Quantum Breakdown Model

We introduce a one-dimensional (1D) extended quantum breakdown model comprising a fermionic and a spin degree of freedom per site, and featuring a spatially asymmetric breakdown-type interaction between the fermions and spins. We analytically show that, in the absence of any magnetic field for the spins, the model exhibits Hilbert space fragmentation within each symmetry sector into exponentially many Krylov subspaces and hence displays non-thermal dynamics. Here, we demonstrate that the fragmentation naturally occurs in an entangled basis and thus provides an example of "quantum fragmentation." Besides establishing the nature of fragmentation analytically, we also study the long-time behavior of the entanglement entropy and its deviation from the expected Page value as a probe of ergodicity in the system. Upon introducing a non-trivial magnetic field for the spins, most of the Krylov subspaces merge and the model becomes chaotic. Finally, we study the effects of strong randomness on the system and observe behavior similar to that of many-body localized systems.

Minimal spin deflection of Kerr-Newman and Supersymmetric black hole

Recent studies have shown that minimal couplings for massive spinning particles, which in the classical limit reproduce the leading PM Kerr black hole dynamics, leads to an Eikonal S-matrix exhibiting spin-entanglement suppression. In this paper we trace this phenomenon to the suppression of spin-flipping components in the S-matrix, known to be the hallmark of minimal coupling in the ultra-relativistic limit. We further generalize the consideration to charged and $\mathcal{N}=4$ black holes, demonstrating that in both cases maximal suppression occurs at the extremal limit.

Non-BPS Supersymmetric 3pt Amplitude for One Massless, Two Equally Massive Particles

In this paper, the non-BPS amplitudes ($Z < 2m$) are considered. Utilizing on-shell methods, the three point amplitudes of two equal-mass particles and one massless particle were constructed, where the two massive particles are non-BPS states. We verify the result by matching the $Z = 0$ and BPS limit with $N = 2$ supersymmetry. As an application we derive the non-BPS coupling for $N = 4$ super-Maxwell and supergravity.
