On the equivalence of static and dynamic weak optimal transport

We show that there is a PDE formulation in terms of Fokker-Planck equations for weak optimal transport problems. The main novelty is that we introduce a minimization problem involving Fokker-Planck equations in the extended sense of measure-valued solutions and prove that it is equal to the associated weak transport problem.

Threshold dynamics approximation schemes for anisotropic mean curvature flows with a forcing term

We establish the convergence of threshold dynamics-type approximation schemes to propagating fronts evolving according to an anisotropic mean curvature motion in the presence of a forcing term depending on both time and position, thus generalizing the consistency result obtained in [Ishii-Pires-Souganidis, 1999] by extending the results obtained in [Caffarelli-Souganidis, 2010] for $α\in [1,2)$ to anisotropic kernels and in the presence of a driving force. The limit geometric evolution is of a variational type and can be approximated, at a large scale, by eikonal-type equations modeling dislocations dynamics. We prove that it preserves convexity under suitable convexity assumptions on the forcing term and that convex evolutions of compact sets are unique. If the initial set is bounded and sufficiently large, and the driving force is constant, then the corresponding generalized front propagation is asymptotically similar to the Wulff shape.

Limiting behavior of minimizing $p$-harmonic maps in 3d as $p$ goes to $2$ with finite fundamental group

We study the limiting behavior of minimizing $p$-harmonic maps from a bounded Lipschitz domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^{3}$ to a compact connected Riemannian manifold without boundary and with finite fundamental group as $p \nearrow 2$. We prove that there exists a closed set $S_{*}$ of finite length such that minimizing $p$-harmonic maps converge to a locally minimizing harmonic map in $Ω\setminus S_{*}$. We prove that locally inside $Ω$ the singular set $S_{*}$ is a finite union of straight line segments, and it minimizes the mass in the appropriate class of admissible chains. Furthermore, we establish local and global estimates for the limiting singular harmonic map. Under additional assumptions, we prove that globally in $\overlineΩ$ the set $S_{*}$ is a finite union of straight line segments, and it minimizes the mass in the appropriate class of admissible chains, which is defined by a given boundary datum and $Ω$.

Singular extension of critical Sobolev mappings under an exponential weak-type estimate

Given $m \in \mathbb{N} \setminus \{0\}$ and a compact Riemannian manifold $\mathcal{N}$, we construct for every map $u$ in the critical Sobolev space $W^{m/(m + 1), m + 1} (\mathbb{S}^m, \mathcal{N})$, a map $U : \mathbb{B}^{m + 1} \to \mathcal{N}$ whose trace is $u$ and which satisfies an exponential weak-type Sobolev estimate. The result and its proof carry on to the extension to a half-space of maps on its boundary hyperplane and to the extension to the hyperbolic space of maps on its boundary sphere at infinity.

Regularity for the planar optimal p-compliance problem

In this paper we prove a partial $C^{1,α}$ regularity result in dimension $N=2$ for the optimal $p$-compliance problem, extending for $p\not = 2$ some of the results obtained by A. Chambolle, J. Lamboley, A. Lemenant, E. Stepanov (2017). Because of the lack of good monotonicity estimates for the $p$-energy when $p\not = 2$, we employ an alternative technique based on a compactness argument leading to a $p$-energy decay at any flat point. We finally obtain that every optimal set has no loop, is Ahlfors regular, and $C^{1,α}$ at $\mathcal{H}^1$-a.e. point for every $p \in (1 ,+\infty)$.

Partial regularity for the optimal $p$-compliance problem with length penalization

We establish a partial $C^{1,α}$ regularity result for minimizers of the optimal $p$-compliance problem with length penalization in any spatial dimension $N\geq 2$, extending some of the results obtained in [Chambolle-Lamboley-Lemenant-Stepanov 17], [Bulanyi-Lemenant 20]. The key feature is that the $C^{1,α}$ regularity of minimizers for some free boundary type problem is investigated with a free boundary set of codimension $N-1$. We prove that every optimal set cannot contain closed loops, and it is $C^{1,α}$ regular at $\mathcal{H}^{1}$-a.e. point for every $p\in (N-1,+\infty)$.
