ZipTok3D: High-Fidelity 3D Tokenization with Compact Token Prefixes

Compact token sequences are essential for efficient 3D generation. However, existing 3D tokenizers typically organize latent representations either over spatial regions or as fixed-size sets of global tokens, both suffering sharp reconstruction degradation when compressed to extremely low token budgets. In this paper, we present ZipTok3D, a 3D tokenizer designed for high-fidelity reconstruction from extremely short token sequences. Its key idea is to organize object geometry into progressively informative global-token prefixes and unfold these compact representations through iterative decoding. Specifically, nested dropout randomly truncates the latent sequence after encoding during training and requires each retained prefix to reconstruct the complete object, thereby prioritizing essential geometric information in the leading tokens. The decoder then repeatedly applies a parameter-shared Transformer block to recover fine-grained geometry from each prefix without a separate generative sampling stage. With the same token dimension, ZipTok3D achieves reconstruction quality comparable to the 32-token COD-VAE baseline using only one token on ShapeNet and four on TRELLIS, yielding $32\times$ and $8\times$ shorter token sequences, respectively.

Block3D: Efficient Text-to-3D Generation via Block-Wise Diffusion

While text-to-3D generation has advanced rapidly, achieving high geometric fidelity at low inference cost remains challenging. Existing text-to-3D methods either decode discrete shape tokens autoregressively or iteratively refine global 3D representations with diffusion or flow models. However, autoregressive decoding is sequential and cannot revise errors, whereas diffusion and flow-matching models repeatedly process the full representation, making high-quality generation increasingly expensive. In this paper, we propose Block3D, a block-wise diffusion framework that partitions the discrete shape-token sequence into contiguous blocks, generates the blocks autoregressively, and jointly denoises all tokens within the current block. To alleviate error accumulation, we introduce confidence-guided intra-block correction, which revises low-confidence tokens before each block is finalized. On a held-out set from TRELLIS-500K, Block3D reduces mean end-to-end generation time from 25.71 seconds to 4.99 seconds, achieving a $5.15\times$ speedup over the fine-tuned autoregressive baseline without sacrificing geometric fidelity.

Denoising as Path Planning: Training-Free Acceleration of Diffusion Models with DPCache

Diffusion models have demonstrated remarkable success in image and video generation, yet their practical deployment remains hindered by the substantial computational overhead of multi-step iterative sampling. Among acceleration strategies, caching-based methods offer a training-free and effective solution by reusing or predicting features across timesteps. However, existing approaches rely on fixed or locally adaptive schedules without considering the global structure of the denoising trajectory, often leading to error accumulation and visual artifacts. To overcome this limitation, we propose DPCache, a novel training-free acceleration framework that formulates diffusion sampling acceleration as a global path planning problem. DPCache constructs a Path-Aware Cost Tensor from a small calibration set to quantify the path-dependent error of skipping timesteps conditioned on the preceding key timestep. Leveraging this tensor, DPCache employs dynamic programming to select an optimal sequence of key timesteps that minimizes the total path cost while preserving trajectory fidelity. During inference, the model performs full computations only at these key timesteps, while intermediate outputs are efficiently predicted using cached features. Extensive experiments on DiT, FLUX, and HunyuanVideo demonstrate that DPCache achieves strong acceleration with minimal quality loss, outperforming prior acceleration methods by $+$0.031 ImageReward at 4.87$\times$ speedup and even surpassing the full-step baseline by $+$0.028 ImageReward at 3.54$\times$ speedup on FLUX, validating the effectiveness of our path-aware global scheduling framework. Do Large Language Models Understand Performance Optimization?

Large Language Models (LLMs) have emerged as powerful tools for software development tasks such as code completion, translation, and optimization. However, their ability to generate efficient and correct code, particularly in complex High-Performance Computing (HPC) contexts, has remained underexplored. To address this gap, this paper presents a comprehensive benchmark suite encompassing multiple critical HPC computational motifs to evaluate the performance of code optimized by state-of-the-art LLMs, including OpenAI o1, Claude-3.5, and Llama-3.2. In addition to analyzing basic computational kernels, we developed an agent system that integrates LLMs to assess their effectiveness in real HPC applications. Our evaluation focused on key criteria such as execution time, correctness, and understanding of HPC-specific concepts. We also compared the results with those achieved using traditional HPC optimization tools. Based on the findings, we recognized the strengths of LLMs in understanding human instructions and performing automated code transformations. However, we also identified significant limitations, including their tendency to generate incorrect code and their challenges in comprehending complex control and data flows in sophisticated HPC code.

Large-area, freestanding single-crystal gold of single nanometer thickness

Two-dimensional single-crystal metals are highly sought after for next-generation technologies. Here, we report large-area (>10^4 {\mu}m2), single-crystal two-dimensional gold with thicknesses down to a single-nanometer level, employing an atomic-level-precision chemical etching approach. The ultrathin thickness and single-crystal quality endow two-dimensional gold with unique properties including significantly quantum-confinement-augmented optical nonlinearity, low sheet resistance, high transparency and excellent mechanical flexibility. By patterning the two-dimensional gold into nanoribbon arrays, extremely-confined near-infrared plasmonic resonances are further demonstrated with quality factors up to 5. The freestanding nature of two-dimensional gold allows its straightforward manipulation and transfer-printing for integration with other structures. The developed two-dimensional gold provides an emerging platform for fundamental studies in various disciplines and opens up new opportunities for applications in high-performance ultrathin optoelectronic, photonic and quantum devices.
