Charmed scalar resonances -- Conventional and four-quark mesons

We propose that there coexist two scalar mesons of different structures (a conventional meson and a four-quark meson) in the recently observed broad bumps just below the large peak of the tensor meson in the D-pi mass distribution. We base this proposal on the interpretation of the charm-strange scalar meson of mass 2317 MeV as a four-quark meson. The strange counterparts of these scalar mesons are also studied.

Implications of B meson decay data -- a graphical approach

The considerable influx of new data on B decays offers opportunities to determine some of the smaller contributions to the decay process, such as suppressed diagrams, and to test the relations between decay amplitudes implied by (broken) SU(3) symmetry. The graphical decomposition of decay amplitudes, corrected here for the contribution of electroweak penguins following Gronau, Rosner et al, implies bounds not only on the size of diagram contributions but also on the relevant complex phases due to Cabbibo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix factors. The available data on B decays to two charmless pseudoscalar mesons are analysed to study some of these decay amplitude relations, and allowed values of $γ=Arg(V_{ub}^*)$ which are consistent with the current favoured values is obtained. Our analysis is based on a graphical approach, which offers some insight that is difficult to obtain from $χ^2$ minimisation, and our results are consistent with recent observations on the difficulty of obtaining simultaneous fits to $Kπ$ and $ππ$ decay channels. We have also analyzed the $Kη$ and $Kη'$ channels, and find similar difficulties.

Interactions of a neutrino with an extremely light scalar

An extremely light scalar weakly interacting with light neutrinos has interesting consequences in stellar evolution, neutrino oscillations and laboratory neutrino mass measurements. In this paper we construct realistic gauge models for such scalar-neutrino interactions.

Relativistic Aharonov-Casher Phase in Spin One

The Aharonov-Casher (AC) phase is calculated in relativistic wave equations of spin one. The AC phase has previously been calculated from the Dirac-Pauli equation using a gauge-like technique \cite{MK1,MK2}. In the spin-one case, we use Kemmer theory (a Dirac-like particle theory) to calculate the phase in a similar manner. However the vector formalism, the Proca theory, is more widely known and used. In the presence of an electromagnetic field, the two theories are `equivalent' and may be transformed into one another. We adapt these transformations to show that the Kemmer theory results apply to the Proca theory. Then we calculate the Aharonov-Casher phase for spin-one particles directly in the Proca formalism.
