Regular string-like braneworlds

In this work, we propose a new class of smooth thick string-like braneworld in six dimensions. The brane exhibits a varying brane-tension and an $AdS$ asymptotic behavior. The brane-core geometry is parametrized by the Bulk cosmological constant, the brane width and by a geometrical deformation parameter. The source satisfies the dominant energy condition for the undeformed solution and has an exotic asymptotic regime for the deformed solution. This scenario provides a normalized massless Kaluza-Klein mode for the scalar, gravitational and gauge sectors. The near-brane geometry allows massive resonant modes at the brane for the $s$ state and nearby the brane for $l=1$.

Antisymmetric tensor propagator with spontaneous Lorentz violation

In this work, we study the spontaneous Lorentz symmetry breaking due to an antisymmetric 2-tensor field in Minkowski spacetime. For a smooth quadratic potential, the spectrum of the theory exhibits massless and massive excitations. We show that the equations of motion for the free field obey some constraints which lead to the massive mode be non-propagating at leading order. Besides, there exists a massless mode in the theory which can be identified with the usual Kalb-Ramond field, carrying only one on-shell degree of freedom. The same conclusion holds when one analyses the pole structure of its Feynman propagator. A new complete set of spin-type operators is found, which was the requirement to evaluate the propagator of the Kalb-Ramond field modified by the presence of a nonzero vacuum expectation value responsible for the Lorentz violation.

The relativistic Aharonov-Bohm-Coulomb system with position-dependent mass

In this work, we study the Aharonov-Bohm-Coulomb (ABC) system for a relativistic Dirac particle with position-dependent mass (PDM). To solve our system, we use the left-handed and right-handed projection operators. Next, we explicitly obtain the eigenfunctions and the energy spectrum of the particle. We verify that these eigenfunctions are written in terms of the generalized Laguerre polynomials and the energy spectrum depends on the parameters Z, $Φ_{AB}$ and $κ$. We notice that the parameter $κ$ has the function of increasing the values of the energy levels of the system. In addition, the usual ABC system is recovered when one considers the limit of constant mass ($κ\to{0}$). Moreover, also we note that even in the absence of ABC system ($Z=Φ_{AB}=0$), the particle with PDM still has a discrete energy spectrum.

Thermodynamic properties of an Aharonov-Bohm quantum ring

In this paper, we investigate the thermodynamic properties of an Aharonov-Bohm (AB) quantum ring in a heat bath for both relativistic and non-relativistic cases. For accomplishing this, we used the partition function which was obtained numerically using the Euler-Maclaurin formula. In particular, we determined the energy spectra as well as the behavior of the main thermodynamic functions of the canonical ensemble, namely, the Helmholtz free energy, the mean energy, the entropy and the heat capacity. The so-called Dulong-Petit law was verified only for the relativistic case. We noticed that in the low energy regime, the relativistic thermodynamic functions are reduced to the non-relativistic case as well.

Geometric standing wave braneworld and field localization in Lyra manifold

In this work, we propose a standing wave braneworld based on Lyra geometry scenario. The Lyra displacement vector provides a modification in Einstein equations which can be interpreted as a noninteracting phantom scalar. From the Einstein's equation in Lyra manifold, a 5D standing wave braneworld is constructed in the presence of a cosmological constant. Unlike other standing wave solutions presented in the literature, no matter field is necessary to obtain these new solutions. We analyze the properties of the scalar, gauge vector and fermionic fields in this model, highlighting the relevance of geometric structure in the process of trapping matter.

Quasi-normal modes of bumblebee wormhole

In this work, we calculate the quasi-normal frequencies from a bumblebee traversable wormhole. The bumblebee wormhole model is based on the bumblebee gravity, which exhibits a spontaneous Lorentz symmetry breaking. Supporting by the Lorentz violation parameter $λ$, this model allows the fulfillment of the flare-out and energy conditions, granted non-exotic matter to the wormhole. We analyze the parameters of bumblebee wormhole in order to obtain a Reege-Wheeler's equation with a bell-shaped potential. We obtain the quasi-normal modes (QNMs) via the WKB approximation method for both scalar and gravitational perturbations. All frequencies obtained are stable and the time domain profiles have decreasing oscillation (damping) profiles for the bumblebee wormhole.

Exact solutions of the Dirac oscillator under the influence of the Aharonov-Casher effect in the cosmic string background

In this work, we study the Aharonov-Casher effect in the $(2+1)$-dimensional Dirac oscillator coupled to an external electromagnetic field. We set up our system in two different scenarios: in the Minkowski spacetime and the cosmic string spacetime. In both cases, we solve exactly the Dirac oscillator and we determine the energy spectrum and the eigenfunctions for the bound states. We verify that in the Minkowski spacetime, the Dirac oscillator spectrum depends linearly on the strength of the magnetic field $B$, and on the Aharonov-Casher phase. In addition, we explicitly obtain the corrections on the Dirac spinors and the energy levels due to the curvature effects in the cosmic string background. Finally, we investigate the nonrelativistic limit and compare our results with those found in the literature.

Bound state solutions of the Dirac oscillator in an Aharonov-Bohm-Coulomb system

In this work, we study of the (2+1)-dimensional Dirac oscillator in the presence of a homogeneous magnetic field in an Aharonov-Bohm-Coulomb system. To solve our system, we apply the $left$-$handed$ and $right$-$handed$ projection operators in the Dirac oscillator to obtain a biconfluent Heun equation. Next, we explicitly determine the energy spectrum for the bound states of the system and their exact dependence on the cyclotron frequency $ω_c$ and on the parameters $Z$ and $Φ_{AB}$ that characterize the Aharonov-Bohm-Coulomb system. As a result, we observe that by adjusting the frequency of the Dirac oscillator to resonate with the cyclotron half-frequency the energy spectrum reduces to the rest energy of the particle. Also, we determine the exact eigenfunctions, angular frequencies, and energy levels of the Dirac oscillator for the ground state ($n=1$) and the first excited state ($n=2$). In this case, the energy levels do not depend on the homogeneous magnetic field, and the angular frequencies are real and positive quantities, increase quadratically with the energy and linearly with $ω_{c}$.

Monopoles on string-like models and the Coulomb's law

The t'Hooft-Polyakov monopole mass can be substantially altered, in the thick GS and HC brane-world setup, and can be employed to constrain the brane thickness limit. In this work, we comprise a brief review regarding gauge fields localization in the string-like six dimensional brane-world models setup. The correction to the Coulomb's law in two models is studied. Besides, the monopole features are investigated from the point of view of the gauge fields localization in the string-like brane-worlds and its thickness.

Graviton KK resonant mode in the correction of the Newton's law from 6D braneworlds

In this work, we derive an expression for the correction in the Newton's law of gravitation due to the gravitational Kaluza-Klein states in a general thick string-like braneworld scenario in six dimensions. In order to analyze corrections to Newton's law we study the gravity fluctuations in a 3-brane placed in a transverse resolved conifold and use suitable numerical methods to attain the massive spectrum and the corresponding eigenfunctions. Such braneworld model has a resolution parameter which removes the conical singularity. The correction has an exponentially suppressed mass term and depends on the values of the eigenfunctions and warp factors computed at the core peak of the brane. The spectrum is real and monotonically increased, as desired. However, the resolution parameter must assume moderate values to have physically acceptable states. Moreover, the trapped massless mode regains the 4D gravity and it is displaced from the origin, sharing similar profile with the energy density of brane for small values of resolution parameter. Finally, for the singular conifold, we found that a non-first eigenstate is a resonant mode. Such excited state is the largest contributor to corrections in the Newtonian potential.

Phase transitions in thick branes endorsed by entropic information

The so-called configurational entropy (CE) framework has proved to be an efficient instrument to study nonlinear scalar field models featuring solutions with spatially-localized energy, since its proposal by Gleiser and Stamapoulos. Therefore, in this work, we apply this new physical quantity in order to investigate the properties of degenerate Bloch branes. We show that it is possible to construct a configurational entropy measure in functional space from the field configurations, where a complete set of exact solutions for the model studied displays both double and single-kink configurations. Our study shows a rich internal structure of the configurations, where we observe that the field configurations undergo a quick phase transition, which is endorsed by information entropy. Furthermore, the Bloch configurational entropy is employed to demonstrate a high organisational degree in the structure of the configurations of the system, stating that there is a best ordering for the solutions.

Corrections to Newton's law of gravitation in the context of codimension-1 warped thick braneworlds

In this work, we compute the corrections in the Newton's law of gravitation due to Kaluza-Klein gravitons in codimension-1 warped thick braneworld scenarios. We focus in some models recently proposed in the literature, the so-called asymmetric hybrid brane and compact brane. Such models are deformations of the $ϕ^4$ and sine-Gordon topological defects, respectively. Therefore we consider the branes engendered by such defects and we also compute the corrections in their cases. We use suitable numerical techniques to attain the mass spectrum and its corresponding eigenfunctions which are the essential quantities for computing the correction to the Newtonian potential. Moreover, we discuss that the existence of massive modes is necessary for building a braneworld model with a phenomenology involved. We find that the odd eigenfunctions have non-trivial contributions and the first eigenstate of the Kaluza-Klein tower has the highest contribution. The calculation of slight deviations in the gravitational potential may be used as a selection tool for braneworld scenarios matching with future experimental measurements in high energy collisions.

Exotic Elko on String-Like Defects in Six Dimensions

We analyse the trapping of eigenspinors of the charge conjugation operator with dual helicity (Elko), in thin and thick string-like models with codimension-2. Elko spinor fields describe mass dimension one fermions in four dimensions (and, correspondingly, mass dimension two fermions in six dimensions), that represent natural dark matter prime candidates. This dark spinor has many applications, from particle physics to cosmology. On the other hand, six-dimensional brane-world models have, among other prominent features, the spontaneous confinement of free spin 1 fields and a mechanism that explains the mass hierarchy of fundamental fermions. In this paper, we use scalar couplings in order to confine the zero mode of Elko in six dimensions. Moreover, we use the Elko dark spinor features to propose an exotic coupling in order to remove the complex-valued terms in the massive Kaluza-Klein modes. Hence, we show that six dimensional models can resolve the main issues of Elko fields confinement presented in five dimensions.

A nonlinear dynamics for the scalar field in Randers spacetime

We investigate the properties of a real scalar field in the Finslerian Randers spacetime, where the local Lorentz violation is driven by a geometrical background vector. We propose a dynamics for the scalar field by a minimal coupling of the scalar field and the Finsler metric. The coupling is intrinsically defined on the Randers spacetime, and it leads to a non-canonical kinetic term for the scalar field. The nonlinear dynamics can be split into a linear and nonlinear regimes, which depend perturbatively on the even and odd powers of the Lorentz-violating parameter, respectively. We analyze the plane-waves solutions and the modified dispersion relations, and it turns out that the spectrum is free of tachyons up to second-order.

Multiresonance modes in sine-Gordon brane models

In this work, we study the localization of the vector gauge field in two five-dimensional braneworlds generated by scalar fields coupled to gravity. The sine-Gordon like potentials are employed to produce different thick brane setups. A zero mode localized is obtained, and we show the existence of reverberations with the wave solutions indicating a quasi-localized massive mode. More interesting results are achieved when we propose a double sine-Gordon potential to the scalar field. The resulting thick brane shows a more detailed topology with the presence of an internal structure composed by two kinks. The massive spectrum of the gauge field is revalued on this scenario revealing the existence of various resonant modes. Furthermore, we compute the corrections to Coulomb law coming from these massive KK vector modes in these thick scenarios, where is concluded that the dilaton parameter regulates these corrections.

Refinements of the Weyl pure geometrical thick branes from information-entropic measure

This letter aims to analyse the so-called configurational entropy in the Weyl pure geometrical thick brane model. The Weyl structure plays a prominent role in the thickness of this model. We find a set of parameters associated to the brane width where the configurational entropy exhibits critical points. Furthermore, we show, by means of this information-theoretical measure, that a stricter bound on the parameter of Weyl pure geometrical brane model arises from the CE.

Quasinormal frequencies of self-dual black holes

One simplified black hole model constructed from a semiclassical analysis of loop quantum gravity (LQG) is called self-dual black hole. This black hole solution depends on a free dimensionless parameter P known as the polymeric parameter and also on the $a_{0}$ area related to the minimum area gap of LQG. In the limit of P and $a_{0}$ going to zero, the usual Schwarzschild-solution is recovered. Here we investigate the quasinormal modes (QNMs) of massless scalar perturbations in the self-dual black hole background. We compute the QN frequencies using the sixth order WKB approximation method and compare them with numerical solutions of the Regge-Wheeler equation. Our results show that as the parameter P grows, the real part of the QN frequencies suffers an initial increase and then starts to decrease while the magnitude of the imaginary one decreases for fixed area gap $a_{0}$. This particular feature means that the damping of scalar perturbations in the self-dual black hole spacetimes are slower, and their oscillations are faster or slower according to the value of P.

Bounds on topological Abelian string-vortex and string-cigar from information-entropic measure

In this work we obtain bounds on the topological Abelian string-vortex and on the string-cigar, by using a new measure of configurational complexity, known as configurational entropy. In this way, the information-theoretical measure of six-dimensional braneworlds scenarios are capable to probe situations where the parameters responsible for the brane thickness are arbitrary. The so-called configurational entropy (CE) selects the best value of the parameter in the model. This is accomplished by minimizing the CE, namely, by selecting the most appropriate parameters in the model that correspond to the most organized system, based upon the Shannon information theory. This information-theoretical measure of complexity provides a complementary perspective to situations where strictly energy-based arguments are inconclusive. We show that the higher the energy the higher the CE, what shows an important correlation between the energy of the a localized field configuration and its associated entropic measure.
