Study of $B \to p {\bar p} ππ$

Using a data sample of $772 \times 10^6$ BB pairs collected on the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider, we report the observations of $B^0\to p{\bar p}π^+π^-$ and $B^+ \to p{\bar p}π^+π^0$. We measure a decay branching fraction of $(0.83 \pm 0.17 \pm 0.17) \times 10^-6$ in $B^0\to p{\bar p}π^+π^-$ for $M_{π^+π^-} < 1.22 GeV/c^2$ with a significance of 5.5 standard deviations. The contribution from $B0 \to p{\bar p}K^0$ is excluded. We measure a decay branching fraction of $(4.58 \pm 1.17 \pm 0.67) \times 10^-6$ for $B^+ \to p{\bar p}π^+π^0$ with $M_{π^+π^0} < 1.3 GeV/c^2$ with a significance of 5.4 standard deviations. We study the difference of the $M_{p{\bar p}}$ distributions in $B^0\to p{\bar p}π^+π^-$ and $B^+ \to p{\bar p}π^+π^0$.

Observation of the radiative decays of $Υ(1S)$ to $χ_{c1}$

We report the first observation of the radiative decay of the $Υ(1S)$ into a charmonium state. The statistical significance of the observed signal of $Υ(1S) \to γχ_{c1}$ is 6.3 standard deviations including systematics. The branching fraction is calculated to be Br($Υ(1S) \to γχ_{c1}$) = (4.7^{+2.4}_{-1.8} (stat) ^{+0.4}_{-0.5} (sys)) * 10^{-5}. We also searched for $Υ(1S)$ radiative decays into $χ_{c0,2}$ and $η_c(1S,2S)$ and set upper limits on their branching fractions. These results are obtained from a 24.9 fb^{-1} data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider at a center-of-mass energy equal to the $Υ(2S)$ mass using $Υ(1S)$ tagging by the $Υ(2S) \to Υ(1S) π^+π^-$ transitions.

Observation of $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-π^0χ_{b1,2}(1P)$ and search for $e^+e^-\toϕχ_{b1,2}(1P)$ at $\sqrt{s}=$10.96---11.05 GeV

We report searches for the processes $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-π^0χ_{bJ}$ and $e^+e^-\toϕχ_{bJ}$ (J=1,2) based on data samples collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB collider. We report the first observation of the process $e^+e^-\to (π^+π^-π^0)_{\rm non-ω}χ_{b1}$ and first evidence for $e^+e^-\toωχ_{bJ}$ in the vicinity of the $Υ(11020)$ resonance, with center-of-mass energies from 10.96 to 11.05~GeV. The significances for $(π^+π^-π^0)_{\rm non-ω}χ_{b1}$ and $ωχ_{bJ}$ are greater than $5.3σ$ and $4.0σ$, respectively. We also investigate the energy dependence of the $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-π^0χ_{bJ}$ cross section, but we cannot determine whether the contributions are from the $Υ(10860)$ and $Υ(11020)$ resonances or non-resonant continuum processes. The signals for $e^+e^-\to ϕχ_{bJ}$ are not significant, and the upper limits of the Born cross sections at the 90\% confidence level are $0.7$ and $1.0$~pb for $e^+e^-\to ϕχ_{b1}$ and $ϕχ_{b2}$, respectively, for center-of-mass energies from 10.96 to 11.05~GeV.

Measurement of the CKM Matrix Element $|V_{cb}|$ from $B^{0} \to D^{*-} \ell^+ ν_\ell$ at Belle

We present a new measurement of the CKM matrix element $|V_{cb}|$ from $B^{0} \to D^{*-} \ell^+ ν_\ell$ decays, reconstructed with the full Belle data set of $711 \, \rm fb^{-1}$ integrated luminosity. Two form factor parameterizations, originally conceived by the Caprini-Lellouch-Neubert (CLN) and the Boyd, Grinstein and Lebed (BGL) groups, are used to extract the product $\mathcal{F}(1)η_{\rm EW}|V_{cb}|$ and the decay form factors, where $\mathcal{F}(1)$ is the normalization factor and $η_{\rm EW}$ is a small electroweak correction. In the CLN parameterization we find $\mathcal{F}(1)η_{\rm EW}|V_{cb}| = (35.06 \pm 0.15 \pm 0.56) \times 10^{-3}$, $ρ^{2}=1.106 \pm 0.031 \pm 0.007$, $R_{1}(1)=1.229 \pm 0.028 \pm 0.009$, $R_{2}(1)=0.852 \pm 0.021 \pm 0.006$. For the BGL parameterization we obtain $\mathcal{F}(1)η_{\rm EW}|V_{cb}|= (34.93 \pm 0.23 \pm 0.59)\times 10^{-3}$, which is consistent with the World Average when correcting for $\mathcal{F}(1)η_{\rm EW}$. The branching fraction of $B^{0} \to D^{*-} \ell^+ ν_\ell$ is measured to be $\mathcal{B}(B^{0}\rightarrow D^{*-}\ell^{+}ν_{\ell}) = (4.90 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.16)\%$. We also present a new test of lepton flavor universality violation in semileptonic $B$ decays, $\frac{{\cal B }(B^0 \to D^{*-} e^+ ν)}{{\cal B }(B^0 \to D^{*-} μ^+ ν)} = 1.01 \pm 0.01 \pm 0.03~$. The errors correspond to the statistical and systematic uncertainties respectively. This is the most precise measurement of $\mathcal{F}(1)η_{\rm EW}|V_{cb}|$ and form factors to date and the first experimental study of the BGL form factor parameterization in an experimental measurement.

Measurements of branching fraction and direct $C\!P$ asymmetry in $B^{\pm}\to K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{S}K^{\pm}$ and a search for $B^{\pm}\to K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{S}π^{\pm}$

We study charmless hadronic decays of charged $B$ mesons to the final states $K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{S}K^{\pm}$ and $K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{S}π^{\pm}$ using a $711 fb^{-1}$ data sample that contains $772\times 10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs, and was collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. For $B^{\pm}\to K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{S}K^{\pm}$, the measured branching fraction and direct $CP$ asymmetry are $[10.42\pm0.43(stat)\pm 0.22(syst)]\times10^{-6}$ and [$+1.6\pm3.9(stat)\pm 0.9(syst)$]%, respectively. In the absence of a statistically significant signal for $B^{\pm}\to K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{S}π^{\pm}$, we obtain a 90% confidence-level upper limit on its branching fraction as $8.7 \times10^{-7}$.

Observation of $B^{+} \rightarrow p\barΛ K^+ K^-$ and $B^{+} \rightarrow \bar{p}ΛK^+ K^+$

We report the study of \OK \ and \SK \ using a $772 \times 10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ pair data sample recorded on the $Υ({\rm 4S})$ resonance with the Belle detector at KEKB. The following branching fractions are measured: $\mathcal{B}$(\OKPHSP) $=$ $(4.22^{+0.45}_{-0.44}\pm 0.51)\times10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}$(\SKPHSP) $=$ $(3.81^{+0.39}_{-0.37} \pm 0.45)\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}$(\ETACD+c.c.) $=$ $(2.91^{+0.37}_{-0.35}\pm 0.36)\times 10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}$(\PLPHI) $=$ $(8.18 \pm 2.15 \pm 0.79)\times10^{-7}$, where c.c. denotes the corresponding charge-conjugation process. The intermediate resonance decays are excluded in the four-body decay measurements. We also found evidences for $\mathcal{B}$(\ETACS+c.c.) $=$ $(3.59 \pm 1.52 \pm 0.47) \times 10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}$(\LLKO) $=$ $(2.30 \pm 0.65 \pm 0.25) \times 10^{-6}$. No significant signals are found for \JPSIS+c.c. and \LLKS \ ; we set the 90\% confidence level upper limits on their decay branching fractions as $< 1.85\times10^{-3}$ and $< 2.14\times10^{-6}$, respectively.

Observation of $e^+e^- \to γχ_{c1}$ and search for $e^+e^- \to γχ_{c0}, γχ_{c2},$ and $γη_c$ at $\sqrt{s}$ near 10.6 GeV at Belle

Using data samples of 89.5~fb$^{-1}$, 711.0~fb$^{-1}$, and 121.4~fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider at center-of-mass energies 10.52 GeV, 10.58 GeV, and 10.867 GeV, respectively, we study the exclusive reactions $e^+e^-\toγχ_{cJ}$ ($J = 0,~1,~2$) and $e^+e^-\toγη_c$. A significant $γχ_{c1}$ signal is observed for the first time at $\sqrt{s}=10.58$ GeV with a significance of $5.1σ$ including systematic uncertainties. No significant excesses for $γχ_{c0}$, $γχ_{c2}$, and $γη_c$ final states are found, and we set 90\% credibility level upper limits on the Born cross sections ($σ_{\rm B}$) at 10.52 GeV, 10.58 GeV, and 10.867~GeV. Together with cross sections measured by BESIII at lower center-of-mass energies, the energy dependency of $σ_{\rm B}(e^+e^-\toγχ_{c1})$ is obtained.

Evidence of a structure in $\bar{K}^{0} Λ_{c}^{+}$ consistent with a charged $Ξ_c(2930)^{+}$, and updated measurement of $\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{K}^{0} Λ_{c}^{+} \barΛ_{c}^{-}$ at Belle

We report evidence for the charged charmed-strange baryon $Ξ_{c}(2930)^+$ with a signal significance of 3.9$σ$ with systematic errors included. The charged $Ξ_{c}(2930)^+$ is found in its decay to $K_{S}^{0} Λ_{c}^+$ in the substructure of $\bar{B}^{0} \to K^{0}_{S} Λ_{c}^{+} \barΛ_{c}^{-}$ decays. The measured mass and width are $[2942.3 \pm 4.4 (\rm stat.) \pm 1.5(\rm syst.)]$~MeV/$c^{2}$ and $[14.8 \pm 8.8(\rm stat.) \pm 2.5(\rm syst.)]$~MeV, respectively, and the product branching fraction is $\cal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Ξ_c(2930)^{+} \barΛ_{c}^{-}) \cal{B}(Ξ_c(2930)^{+}\to \bar{K}^{0} Λ_{c}^{+})=[2.37 \pm 0.51 (\rm stat.)\pm 0.31(\rm syst.)]\times 10^{-4}$. We also measure $\cal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{K}^{0} Λ_{c}^{+} \barΛ_{c}^{-}) = [3.99 \pm 0.76(\rm stat.) \pm 0.51(\rm syst.)] \times 10^{-4}$ with greater precision than previous experiments, and present the results of a search for the charmonium-like state $Y(4660)$ and its spin partner, $Y_η$, in the $Λ_{c}^{+}\barΛ_{c}^{-}$ invariant mass spectrum. No clear signals of the $Y(4660)$ or $Y_η$ are observed and the 90\% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their production rates are determined. These measurements are obtained from a sample of $(772\pm11)\times 10^{6} B\bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider.

Observation of $Ξ(1620)^0$ and evidence for $Ξ(1690)^0$ in $Ξ_c^+ \rightarrow Ξ^-π^+π^+$ decays

We report the first observation of the doubly-strange baryon $Ξ(1620)^0$ in its decay to $Ξ^-π^+$ via $Ξ_c^+ \rightarrow Ξ^- π^+ π^+$ decays based on a $980\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. The mass and width are measured to be 1610.4 $\pm$ 6.0 (stat) $^{+5.9}_{-3.5}$ (syst)~MeV$/c^2$ and 59.9 $\pm$ 4.8 (stat) $^{+2.8}_{-3.0}$ (syst)~MeV, respectively. We obtain 4.0$σ$ evidence of the $Ξ(1690)^0$ with the same data sample. These results shed light on the structure of hyperon resonances with strangeness $S=-2$.

We report a search for charmless hadronic decays of charged $B$ mesons to the final states $K^{0}_{S} K^{0}_{S} K^{\pm}$ and $K^{0}_{S} K^{0}_{S} π^{\pm}$ . The results are based on a $711 {fb}^{-1}$ data sample that contains $772 \times 10^6$ $B \bar{B}$ pairs, and was collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. For $B^{\pm} \to K^{0}_{S} K^{0}_{S} K^{\pm}$ decays, the measured branching fraction and direct $CP$ asymmetry are $[10.64\pm0.49(stat)\pm 0.44(syst)]\times10^{-6}$ and [$-0.6\pm3.9(stat)\pm 3.4(syst)$] %, respectively. In the absence of a statistically significant signal for $B^{\pm}\to K^{0}_{S} K^{0}_{S} π^{\pm}$, we set the 90 % confidence-level upper limit on its branching fraction at $1.14 \times 10^{-6}$.

Measurement of Time-dependent $CP$ Asymmetries in $B^{0}\to K_S^0 ηγ$ Decays

We report a measurement of time-dependent $CP$ violation parameters in ${B^0 \to K_S^0 ηγ}$ decays. The study is based on a data sample, containing ${772 \times 10^6 B\bar{B}}$ pairs, that was collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. We obtain the $CP$ violation parameters of ${{\cal S} = -1.32 \pm 0.77 {\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.36{\rm (syst.)}}$ and ${{\cal A} = -0.48 \pm 0.41 {\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.07{\rm (syst.)}}$ for the invariant mass of the $K_S^0 η$ system up to 2.1 GeV/$c^2$.
