Double heavy quarkonium production in diffractive processes at the Run 2 LHC energy

The double quarkonium production in single and double diffractive processes is investigated considering $pp$ collisions at the Run 2 LHC energy. Using the nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization formalism for the quarkonium production and the Resolved Pomeron model to describe the diffractive processes, we estimate the rapidity and transverse momentum dependencies of the cross sections for the $J/ΨJ/Ψ$ and $ΥΥ$ production. The contributions of the color-singlet and color-octet channels are estimated and predictions for the total cross sections in the kinematical regions of the LHC experiments are also presented. Our results demonstrate that the double quarkonium production in diffractive processes is not negligible and that its study can be useful to test the underlying assumptions present in the description of the single and double diffractive processes.

Diffractive double quarkonium production at the LHC

In this paper we study the inclusive and diffractive double quarkonium production. Based on the nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization formalism for the quarkonium production mechanism we estimate the rapidity and transverse momentum dependence of the cross section for the $J/ΨJ/Ψ$ and $ΥΥ$ production in diffractive processes at LHC energies. The contributions of the color-singlet and color-octet channels are estimated and predictions for the total cross sections in the kinematical regions of the LHC experiments are also presented. Our results demonstrate that the contribution of diffractive processes is not negligible and that its study can be useful to test the Resolved Pomeron model.

Double $J/ψ$ production in central diffractive processes at the LHC

In this paper we study the double $J/ψ$ production in central diffractive processes considering the Resolved Pomeron model. Based on the nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization formalism for the quarkonium production mechanism we estimate the rapidity and transverse momentum dependence of the cross section for the double $J/ψ$ production in diffractive processes at LHC energies. The contributions of the color-singlet and color-octet channels are estimated and predictions for the total cross sections in the kinematical regions of the LHC experiments are also presented. Our results demonstrate that the contribution of central diffractive processes is not negligible and that its study can be useful to test the Resolved Pomeron model.

Single and double diffractive prompt photon production at the LHC

In this contribution we study for the first time the prompt photon production in single and double diffractive processes considering the resolved Pomeron model. We estimate the rapidity and transverse momentum dependence of the cross section for the production of two photons and of a photon and a jet. We show that these processes are sensitive to the pomeron structure. In contrast with the dijet and heavy quark production, which are dominated by gluon-gluon interactions, in prompt photon production, Compton like processes are dominant for single photon plus jet events. This gives a unique oportunity to constrain the quark distribution in the Pomeron. The results are obtained for the LHC energy.

Looking at the photoproduction of massive gauge bosons at the LHeC

In this contribution we report on the investigation of the photoproduction of W and Z bosons in the planned electron-proton/nucleus collider, the LHeC. The production cross sections and the number of events are provided and theoretical uncertainties are discussed. We also analyze the sensitivity of the LHeC experiment to physics beyond Standard Model by studying the role played by anomalous WWgamma coupling in the presented process.

Diffractive photon production at the LHC

In this paper we study the photon production in single and double diffractive processes considering the Resolved Pomeron model. We estimate the rapidity and transverse momentum dependence of the cross section for the diffractive double photon and photon+jet production. A comparison with the inclusive production is presented. We predict large values for the total cross sections, which makes the experimental analysis of these observables feasible at LHC energies.

Inclusive and exclusive dilepton photoproduction at high energies

In this work we investigate the inclusive and exclusive photoproduction of dileptons, which is relevant for the physics programme to be studied in the proposed electron-proton collider, the LHeC. In the inclusive case, the process is sensitive to the parton distribution functions in the photon whereas the exclusive channel is connected to the small-$x$ QCD dynamics. For the latter, we investigate the role played by saturation physics at a very high energy scenario. The estimates for production cross sections and the number of events are presented.

Photino and Gluino Production in SQED and SQCD

This review starts out with a brief history of the photino-gluino phenomenology. Next, it describes difficulties encountered in the construction of Feynman amplitudes when dealing with Majorana fermions and outlines a procedure that circumvents this difficulty by means of a prescription based on a well-defined fermion flow without explicit charge-conjugation matrices at the vertex equations. Finally, as an illustration, it calculates the cross section for the production of photinos and gluinos.

An analysis on the photoproduction of massive gauge bosons at the LHeC

In this work we investigate the photoproduction of massive gauge bosons, $W^{\pm}$ and $Z^0$, as part of relevant physics topics to be studied in the proposed electron-proton collider, the LHeC. The estimates for production cross sections and the number of events are presented. In addition, motivated by the intensive studies to test the deviations from the Standard Model at present and future colliders, we discuss the $W^{\pm}$ asymmetries and perform an analysis on the role played by anomalous $WWγ$ coupling.

Gluino production in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions and nuclear shadowing

In this article we investigate the influence of nuclear effects in the production of gluinos in nuclear collisions at the LHC, and estimate the transverse momentum dependence of the nuclear ratios $R_{pA} = {\frac{dσ(pA)}{dy d^2 p_T}} / A {\frac{dσ(pp)}{dy d^2 p_T}}$ and $R_{AA} = {\frac{dσ(AA)}{dy d^2 p_T}} / A^2 {\frac{dσ(pp)}{dy d^2 p_T}}$. We demonstrate that depending on the magnitude of the nuclear effects, the production of gluinos could be enhanced, compared to proton-proton collisions. The study of these observables can be useful to determine the magnitude of the shadowing and antishadowing effects in the nuclear gluon distribution. Moreover, we test different SPS scenarios, corresponding to different soft SUSY breaking mechanisms, and find that the nuclear ratios are strongly dependent on that choice.

Quarkonium plus prompt-photon associated hadroproduction and nuclear shadowing

The quarkonium hadroproduction in association with a photon at high energies provides a probe of the dynamics of the strong interactions as it is dependent on the nuclear gluon distribution. Therefore, it could be used to constrain the behavior of the nuclear gluon distribution in proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions. Such processes are useful to single out the magnitude of the shadowing/antishadowing effects in the nuclear parton densities. In this work we investigate the influence of nuclear effects in the production of JPsi + photon and Upsilon + photon and estimate the transverse momentum dependence of the nuclear modification factors. The theoretical framework considered in the JPsi (Upsilon) production associated with a direct photon at the hadron collider is the non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization formalism.

Investigating the high energy QCD approaches for prompt photon production at the LHC

We investigate the rapidity and transverse momentum distributions of the prompt photon production at the CERN LHC energies considering the current perturbative QCD approaches for this scattering process. Namely, we compare the predictions from the usual NLO pQCD calculations to the the color dipole formalism, using distinct dipole cross sections. Special attention is paid to parton saturation models at high energies, which are expected to be important at the forward rapidities in pp collisions at the LHC.

Nuclear shadowing and prompt photons at relativistic hadron colliders

The production of prompt photons at high energies provides a direct probe of the dynamics of the strong interactions. In particular, one expect that it could be used to constrain the behavior of the nuclear gluon distribution in $pA$ and $AA$ collisions. In this letter we investigate the influence of nuclear effects in the production of prompt photons and estimate the transverse momentum dependence of the nuclear ratios $R_{pA} = {\frac{dσ(pA)}{dy d^2 p_T}} / A {\frac{dσ(pp)}{dy d^2 p_T}}$ and $R_{AA} = {\frac{dσ(AA)}{dy d^2 p_T}} / A^2 {\frac{dσ(pp)}{dy d^2 p_T}}$ at RHIC and LHC energies. We demonstrate that the study of these observables can be useful to determine the magnitude of the shadowing and antishadowing effects in the nuclear gluon distribution.

Gluino production in some supersymmetric models at the LHC

In this article we review the mechanisms in several supersymmetric models for producing gluinos at the LHC and its potential for discovering them. We focus on the MSSM and its left-right extensions. We study in detail the strong sector of both models. Moreover, we obtain the total cross section and differential distributions. We also make an analysis of their uncertainties, such as the gluino and squark masses, which are related to the soft SUSY breaking parameters.

Investigating gluino production at the LHC

Gluinos are expected to be one of the most massive sparticles (supersymmetric partners of usual particles) which constitute the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). The gluinos are the partners of the gluons and they are color octet fermions, due this fact they can not mix with the other particles. Therefore in several scenarios, given at SPS convention, they are the most massive particles and their nature is a Majorana fermion. Therefore their production is only feasible at a very energetic machine such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Being the fermion partners of the gluons, their role and interactions are directly related with the properties of the supersymmetric QCD (sQCD). We review the mechanisms for producing gluinos at the LHC and investigate the total cross section and differential distributions, making an analysis of their uncertainties, such as the gluino and squark masses, as obtained in several scenarios, commenting on the possibilities of discriminating among them.

Enhancement of prompt photons in ultrarelativistic proton-proton collisions from nonlinear gluon evolution at small-$x$

In this paper we estimate the influence of nonlinear gluon evolution in the production of prompt photons at the LHC pp collider. We assume the validity of collinear factorization and consider the EHKQS parton distributions, which are solutions of the GLR-MQ evolution equations and describe quite well the DESY $ep$ HERA data, as input in our calculations. We find that both single and double photon production are enhanced for low-$p_T$ photons and central rapidities, while this effect is absent for the high-$p_T$ photons. The implications of this effect for the Quark-Gluon Plasma searches and for the QCD background to Higgs are also discussed.

Nuclear Medium Effects in $J/Ψ$ Production at HERA-B

In this paper we estimate the influence of the shadowing effect and initial state parton energy loss in the quarkonium production at HERA-B. We analyze the $x_F$ behavior of the effective exponent $α(x_F)$ and present a comparison with the preliminary HERA-B data for $J/Ψ$ production. Moreover, we estimate the magnitude of these effects in the $J/Ψ$ production at RHIC.
