Three and four-body systems in one dimension: integrability, superintegrability and discrete symmetries

Families of three-body Hamiltonian systems in one dimension have been recently proved to be maximally superintegrable by interpreting them as one-body systems in the three-dimensional Euclidean space, examples are the Calogero, Wolfes and Tramblay Turbiner Winternitz systems. For some of these systems, we show in a new way how the superintegrability is associated with their dihedral symmetry in the three-dimensional space, the order of the dihedral symmetries being associated with the degree of the polynomial in the momenta first integrals. As a generalization, we introduce the analysis of integrability and superintegrability of four-body systems in one dimension by interpreting them as one-body systems with the symmetries of the Platonic polyhedra in the four-dimensional Euclidean space. The paper is intended as a short review of recent results in the sector, emphasizing the relevance of discrete symmetries for the superintegrability of the systems considered.

R-separation of variables for the conformally invariant Laplace equation

The conditions for R-separation of variables for the conformally invariant Laplace equation on an n-dimensional Riemannian manifold are determined and compared with the conditions for the additive separation of the null geodesic Hamilton-Jacobi equation. The case of 3-dimensions is examined in detail and it is proven that on any conformally flat manifold the two equations separate in the same coordinates.

Geometrical classification of Killing tensors on bidimensional flat manifolds

Valence two Killing tensors in the Euclidean and Minkowski planes are classified under the action of the group which preserves the type of the corresponding Killing web. The classification is based on an analysis of the system of determining partial differential equations for the group invariants and is entirely algebraic. The approach allows to classify both characteristic and non characteristic Killing tensors.

Fixed Energy R-separation for Schroedinger equation

We extend the classical approach of the R-separation of the Laplace equation (as a null eigenvalue problem) to the general steady state Schroedinger equation including cases where a scalar potential V is present and the energy is a fixed constant.
