Norm inequalities related to the Heron and Heinz means

In this article, we present several inequalities treating operator means and the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality. In particular, we present some new comparisons between operator Heron and Heinz means, several generalizations of the difference version of the Heinz means and further refinements of the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality. The techniques used to accomplish these results include convexity and L\"{o}wner matrices.

An extension of the Pólya--Szegö operator inequality

We extend an operator Pólya--Szegö type inequality involving the operator geometric mean to any arbitrary operator mean under some mild conditions. Utilizing the Mond--Pečarić method, we present some other related operator inequalities as well.

Orthogonality and parallelism of operators on various Banach spaces

We present some properties of orthogonality and relate them with support disjoint and norm inequalities in p Schatten ideals. In addition, we investigate the problem of characterization of norm parallelism for bounded linear operators. We consider the characterization of norm parallelism problem in p Schatten ideals and locally uniformly convex spaces. Later on, we study the case when an operator is norm parallel to the identity operator. Finally, we give some equivalence assertions about the norm parallelism of compact operators. Some applications and generalizations are discussed for certain operators.

Further refinements of the Heinz inequality

The celebrated Heinz inequality asserts that $ 2|||A^{1/2}XB^{1/2}|||\leq |||A^{\nu}XB^{1-\nu}+A^{1-\nu}XB^{\nu}|||\leq |||AX+XB|||$ for $X \in \mathbb{B}(\mathscr{H})$, $A,B\in \+$, every unitarily invariant norm $|||\cdot|||$ and $\nu \in [0,1]$. In this paper, we present several improvement of the Heinz inequality by using the convexity of the function $F(\nu)=|||A^{\nu}XB^{1-\nu}+A^{1-\nu}XB^{\nu}|||$, some integration techniques and various refinements of the Hermite--Hadamard inequality. In the setting of matrices we prove that \begin{eqnarray*} &&\hspace{-0.5cm}\left|\left|\left|A^{\frac{\alpha+\beta}{2}}XB^{1-\frac{\alpha+\beta}{2}}+A^{1-\frac{\alpha+\beta}{2}}XB^{\frac{\alpha+\beta}{2}}\right|\right|\right|\leq\frac{1}{|\beta-\alpha|} \left|\left|\left|\int_{\alpha}^{\beta}\left(A^{\nu}XB^{1-\nu}+A^{1-\nu}XB^{\nu}\right)d\nu\right|\right|\right|\nonumber\\ &&\qquad\qquad\leq \frac{1}{2}\left|\left|\left|A^{\alpha}XB^{1-\alpha}+A^{1-\alpha}XB^{\alpha}+A^{\beta}XB^{1-\beta}+A^{1-\beta}XB^{\beta}\right|\right|\right|\,, \end{eqnarray*} for real numbers $\alpha, \beta$.
