Multi-Modal Spectroscopy Theory for Ultrafast Control of Rabi Oscillations

We propose a three-cavity scheme to realize full control of the emitter-cavity coupling strength in cavity quantum electrodynamics (cQED). The involvement of coupled oscillators gives rise to transient dynamics comprising multiple spectral components, which significantly increases the numerical cost to resolve the fluorescence spectrum in the time domain. A generalized sensor method is hence developed to simplify the calculation process for the characterization of nonstationary quantum dynamics. Multi-modal spectroscopy reveals the emergence, splitting, and disappearance of supermodes in real time. Based on the depletion of the zero-energy supermode, ultrafast switching of Rabi oscillations is demonstrated for time-domain multi-modal spectroscopy. These results exhibit a consistent picture from the spectral control of multiple oscillators to the quantum observation in ultrafast dynamics, which establishes the sensor method as a powerful theoretical tool for the ultrafast spectroscopy of cQED systems.

Phase-preserving control of Floquet-engineered cavity quantum electrodynamics

We propose a Floquet-engineered framework for the coherent control of the light-matter interaction in a two-level system (TLS) located in a time-modulated cavity. Strictly phase-preserving operation of the TLS-cavity interaction is demonstrated, allowing the interrupt and retrieval of coherent Rabi oscillations without the loss of quantum information. By introducing a phonon reservoir, it is proved that the frequency instability induced from non-Markovian processes does not produce significant phase decoherence during Floquet modulation. Our results provide new insights into the fundamental physics of a driven quantum system and establish Floquet engineering as a powerful tool for coherent quantum information processing.

Finite groups and arc-transitive maps of square-free Euler characteristic

A characterization is completed for finite groups acting arc-transitively on maps with square-free Euler characteristic, associated with infinite families of regular maps of square-free Euler characteristic presented. This is based on a classification of finite groups of which each Sylow subgroup has a cyclic or dihedral subgroup of prime index.

Enhancing Photon Indistinguishability of Spectrally Mismatched Single Photons by Cavity Floquet Engineering

We theoretically propose a scheme to enhance the photon indistinguishability of spectrally mismatched single photons via Floquet-engineered optical frequency combs (OFCs) in cavity quantum electrodynamic systems. By periodically modulating two distinct single-photon states under a modulation frequency which is exactly equal to the spectral mismatch of two cavity modes, a pair of single-photon frequency-comb (SPFC) states is prepared energy-conservatively based on full unitary operations. The two states show high indistinguishability with an ideal $g^{(2)}_\mathrm{HOM}(0)$ down to zero due to the superposition of intensity-matched single-photon states coherently distributed across the teeth of the combs.

Cuprate-like Electronic Structures in Infinite-Layer Nickelates with Substantial Hole Dopings

The superconducting infinite-layer (IL) nickelates offer a new platform for investigating the long-standing problem of high-temperature superconductivity. Many models were proposed to understand its superconducting mechanisms based on the calculated electronic structure, and the multiple Fermi surfaces and multiple orbitals involved create complications and controversial conclusions. Over the past 5 years, the lack of direct measurements of the electronic structure has hindered the understanding of nickelate superconductors. Here we fill this gap by directly resolving the electronic structures of the parent compound LaNiO$_2$ and superconducting La$_{0.8}$Ca$_{0.2}$NiO$_2$ using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). We find that their Fermi surfaces consist of a quasi-two-dimensional (quasi-2D) hole pocket and a three-dimensional (3D) electron pocket at the Brillouin zone corner, whose volumes change upon Ca doping. The Fermi surface topology and band dispersion of the hole pocket closely resemble those observed in hole-doped cuprates. However, the cuprate-like band exhibits significantly higher hole doping in superconducting La$_{0.8}$Ca$_{0.2}$NiO$_2$ compared to superconducting cuprates, highlighting the disparities in the electronic states of the superconducting phase. Our observations highlight the novel aspects of the IL nickelates, and pave the way toward the microscopic understanding of the IL nickelate family and its superconductivity.

Study of $e^+e^- \rightarrow Σ^0 \overlineΣ{}^0$ and $Σ^+\overlineΣ{}^- $ by Initial State Radiation Method at Belle

The processes $ e^+e^-\rightarrow Σ^0\overlineΣ{}^0 $ and $ e^+e^-\rightarrowΣ^+\overlineΣ{}^-$ are studied using initial-state-radiation events in a sample of 980 $\,\mbox{fb}^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $ e^+e^- $ collider. The cross sections from the mass threshold to $ 3{\mathrm{\,Ge\kern -0.1em V\!/}c^2} $ and the effective form factors of $ Σ^0 $ and $ Σ^+ $ are measured. In the charmonium region, we observe the decays $J/ψ\rightarrowΣ^0\overlineΣ{}^0$ and $J/ψ\rightarrowΣ^+\overlineΣ{}^-$ and determine the respective branching fractions.

Search for $X(3872)\toπ^+π^-π^0$ at Belle

We present a search for the decay $X(3872) \to π^+π^-π^0$ in the $(772\pm11)\times10^6$ $Υ(4S)\to B \bar B$ data sample collected at the Belle detector, where the $X(3872)$ is produced in $B^{\pm}\to K^{\pm}X(3872)$ and $B^{0}\to K_{S}^0 X(3872)$ decays. We do not observe a signal, and set 90\% credible upper limits for two different models of the decay processes: if the decay products are distributed uniformly in phase space, $\mathcal{B}(X(3872) \to π^+π^-π^0) < 1.3\%$; if $M(π^+π^-)$ is concentrated near the mass of the $D^0 \bar D^0$ pair in the process $X(3872)\to D^0\bar{D}^{*0}+c.c.\to D^0 \bar D^{0}π^0\toπ^+ π^- π^0$, $\mathcal{B}(X(3872) \to π^+π^-π^0) < 1.2\times10^{-3}$.

Measurement of two-photon decay width of $χ_{c2}(1P)$ in $ γγ\rightarrow χ_{c2}(1P) \rightarrow J/ψγ$ at Belle

We report the measurement of the two-photon decay width of $χ_{c2}(1P)$ in two-photon processes at the Belle experiment. We analyze the process $ γγ\rightarrow χ_{c2}(1P) \rightarrow J/ψγ$, $J/ψ\rightarrow \ell^{+} \ell^{-}$ $(\ell = e \ {\rm or} \ μ)$ using a data sample of 971 fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^{+} e^{-}$ collider. In this analysis, the product of the two-photon decay width of $χ_{c2}(1P)$ and the branching fraction is determined to be $Γ_{γγ}(χ_{c2}(1P)) \mathcal{B}( χ_{c2}(1P) \rightarrow J/ψ\, γ)\mathcal{B}( J/ψ\rightarrow \ell^+\ell^- ) = {\rm 14.8}$ $\pm$ ${\rm 0.3}({\rm stat.})$ $\pm$ ${\rm 0.7}({\rm syst.})$ eV, which corresponds to $ Γ_{γγ}(χ_{c2}(1P)) $ = 653 $\pm$ 13(stat.) $\pm$ 31(syst.) $\pm$ 17(B.R.) eV, where the third uncertainty is from $\mathcal{B}( χ_{c2}(1P) \rightarrow J/ψ\, γ)$ and $\mathcal{B}( J/ψ\rightarrow \ell^+\ell^- )$.

Search for rare decays $B^{+} \to D_{s}^{(\ast)+}η$, $D_{s}^{(\ast)+}\bar{K}^{0}$, $D^{+}η$, and $D^{+}K^{0}$

We present a study of rare decay modes $B^{+} \to D_{s}^{+}h^{0}$, $B^{+} \to D_{s}^{\ast+}h^{0}$, and $B^{+} \to D^{+}h^{0}$, where $h^{0}$ denotes the neutral mesons $η$ or $K^{0}$, using a data sample of $(772 \pm 10 ) \times 10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ events produced at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. The data were collected by the Belle detector operating at the asymmetric-energy KEKB collider. We observe no evidence for these decays, so we provide upper limits at the 90$\%$ confidence level on the branching fractions of $B^{+} \to D_{s}^{+}h^{0}$, $D_{s}^{\ast+}h^{0}$, and $D^{+}h^{0}$ decay modes. Along with rare decay modes, we report improved measurements of the color-suppressed decay branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to D^{0}η)$ = (26.6 $\pm$ 1.2 $\pm$ 2.1) $\times$ $10^{-5}$ and $\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to D^{0}\bar{K}^{0})$ = (5.6 $\pm$ 0.5 $\pm$ 0.2) $\times$ $10^{-5}$. The first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

Evidence for the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $Ω^0_c\toΞ^-π^+$ and search for $Ω^0_c\toΞ^-K^+$ and $Ω^-K^+$ decays at Belle

Using a data sample of 980 fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider, we study for the first time the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays $Ω^0_c\toΞ^{-}π^{+}$ and $Ω^-K^+$ and the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $Ω^0_c\to Ξ^- K^{+}$. Evidence for an $Ω^0_c$ signal in the $Ω^0_c\toΞ^-π^+$ mode is reported with a significance of $4.5σ$ including systematic uncertainties. The ratio of branching fractions to the normalization mode $Ω_c^0\to Ω^-π^+$ is measured to be $${\cal B}(Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} π^{+} )/{\cal B}(Ω_c^0\to Ω^-π^+)=0.253\pm 0.053({\rm stat.})\pm 0.030({\rm syst.}).$$ No significant signals of $Ω^0_c\toΞ^-K^+$ and $Ω^-K^+$ modes are found. The upper limits at $90\%$ confidence level on ratios of branching fractions are determined to be $${\cal B}(Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} K ^{+})/{\cal B}(Ω_c^0\to Ω^-π^+) < 0.070$$ and $${\cal B}(Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-}K^{+})/{\cal B}(Ω_c^0\to Ω^-π^+) < 0.29.$$

First search for the weak radiative decays $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ γ$ and $Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^0 γ$

We present the first search for the weak radiative decays $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ γ$ and $Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^0 γ$ using a data sample of 980~fb$^{-1}$ collected by the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. There are no evident $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ γ$ or $Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^0 γ$ signals. Taking the decays $Λ_c^+ \to p K^- π^+$ and $Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+$ as normalization channels, the upper limits at 90\% credibility level on the ratios of branching fractions ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ γ)/{\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p K^{-} π^+) < 4.0 \times 10^{-3}$ and ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^0 γ)/{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+) < 1.2 \times 10^{-2}$ are determined. We obtain the upper limits at 90\% credibility level on the absolute branching fractions ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ γ) < 2.6 \times 10^{-4}$ and ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^0 γ) < 1.8 \times 10^{-4}$.

An improved search for the electric dipole moment of the $τ$ lepton

We report a measurement of the electric dipole moment of the $τ$ lepton ($d_τ$) using an 833~fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected near the $Υ(4S)$ resonance, with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. Using an optimal observable method, we obtain the real and imaginary parts of $d_τ$ as ${\rm Re}(d_τ) = ( -0.62 \pm 0.63 ) \times 10^{-17} ~e{\rm cm}$ and ${\rm Im}(d_τ) = ( -0.40 \pm 0.32 ) \times 10^{-17} ~e{\rm cm}$, respectively. These results are consistent with null electric dipole moment at the present level of experimental sensitivity and improve the sensitivity by about a factor of three.

Observation of the toroidal rotation in a new designed compact torus system for EAST

Compact torus injection is considered as a high promising approach to realize central fueling in the future tokamak device. Recently, a compact torus injection system has been developed for the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak, and the preliminary results have been carried out. In the typical discharges of the early stage, the velocity, electron density and particles number of the CT can reach 56.0 km/s, 8.73*10^20 m^(-3) and 2.4*10^18 (for helium), respectively. A continuous increase in CT density during acceleration was observed in the experiment, which may be due to the plasma ionized in the formation region may carry part of the neutral gas into the acceleration region, and these neutral gases will be ionized again. In addition, a significant plasma rotation is observed during the formation process which is introduced by the E*B drift. In this paper, we present the detailed system setup and the preliminary platform test results, hoping to provide some basis for the exploration of the CT technique medium-sized superconducting tokamak device in the future

Search for the decay $B_s^0\rightarrowηη$

We report results from a search for the decay $B_s^0\rightarrowηη$ using 121.4 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected at the $Υ(5S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. We do not observe any signal and set an upper limit on the branching fraction of $14.3\times 10^{-5}$ at $90\%$ confidence level. This result represents a significant improvement over the previous most stringent limit.

Measurement of Differential Branching Fractions of Inclusive ${B \to X_u \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}}$ Decays

The first measurements of differential branching fractions of inclusive semileptonic ${B \to X_u \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}}$ decays are performed using the full Belle data set of 711 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and for $\ell = e, μ$. Differential branching fractions are reported as a function of the lepton momentum, the four-momentum-transfer squared, light-cone momenta, the hadronic mass, and the hadronic mass squared. They are obtained by subtracting the backgrounds from semileptonic ${B \to X_c \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}}$ decays and other processes, and corrected for resolution and acceptance effects. The measured distributions are compared to predictions from inclusive and hybrid ${B \to X_u \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}}$ calculations.

Measurements of the branching fractions of the semileptonic decays $Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} \ell^{+} ν_{\ell}$ and the asymmetry parameter of $Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} π^{+}$

Using data samples of 89.5 and 711 fb$^{-1}$ recorded at energies of $\sqrt{s}=10.52$ and $10.58$ GeV, respectively, with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider, we report measurements of branching fractions of semileptonic decays $Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} \ell^{+} ν_{\ell}$ ($\ell=e$ or $μ$) and the $CP$-asymmetry parameter of $Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} π^{+}$ decay. The branching fractions are measured to be ${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} e^{+} ν_{e})=(1.31 \pm 0.04 \pm 0.07 \pm 0.38)\%$ and ${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} μ^{+} ν_μ)=(1.27 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.10 \pm 0.37)\%$, and the decay parameter $α_{Ξπ}$ is measured to be $0.63 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.01$ with much improved precision compared to the current world average. The corresponding ratio ${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} e^{+} ν_{e})/{\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} μ^{+} ν_μ)$ is $1.03 \pm 0.05\pm 0.07$, which is consistent with the expectation of lepton flavor universality. The first measured asymmetry parameter ${\cal A}_{CP} = (α_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}} + α_{\barΞ^{+}π^{-}})/(α_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}} - α_{\barΞ^{+}π^{-}}) = 0.024 \pm 0.052 \pm 0.014$ is found to be consistent with zero. The first and the second uncertainties above are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise due to the uncertainty of the $Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} π^+$ branching fraction.

Search for $B_{s}^{0} \rightarrow η^{\prime} X_{s\bar{s}}$ at Belle using a semi-inclusive method

We report the first search for the penguin-dominated process $B_{s}^{0} \rightarrow η^{\prime} X_{s\bar{s}}$ using a semi-inclusive method. A 121.4 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ integrated luminosity $Υ(5S)$ data set collected by the Belle experiment, at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider, is used. We observe no statistically significant signal and including all uncertainties, we set a 90\% confidence level upper limit on the partial branching fraction at 1.4 $\times$ 10$^{-3}$ for $M(X_{s\bar{s}})$ $\leq$ 2.4 GeV/$c^{2}$.

Evidence for the decay $Ω_{c}^{0} \to π^+Ω(2012)^- \to π^+ (\bar{K}Ξ)^{-}$

Using a data sample of 980~fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider, we present evidence for the $Ω(2012)^-$ in the resonant substructure of $Ω_{c}^{0} \to π^+ (\bar{K}Ξ)^{-}$ ($(\bar{K}Ξ)^{-}$ = $K^-Ξ^0$ + $\bar{K}^0 Ξ^-$) decays. The significance of the $Ω(2012)^-$ signal is 4.2$σ$ after considering the systematic uncertainties. The ratio of the branching fraction of $Ω_{c}^{0} \to π^{+} Ω(2012)^- \to π^+ (\bar{K}Ξ)^{-}$ relative to that of $Ω_{c}^{0} \to π^{+} Ω^-$ is calculated to be 0.220 $\pm$ 0.059(stat.) $\pm$ 0.035(syst.). The individual ratios of the branching fractions of the two isospin modes are also determined, and found to be ${\cal B}(Ω_{c}^0 \to π^+ Ω(2012)^-) \times {\cal B}(Ω(2012)^- \to K^-Ξ^0)/{\cal B}(Ω_{c}^0 \to π^+ K^- Ξ^0)$ = (9.6 $\pm$ 3.2(stat.) $\pm$ 1.8(syst.))\% and ${\cal B}(Ω_{c}^0 \to π^+ Ω(2012)^-) \times {\cal B}(Ω(2012)^- \to \bar{K}^0 Ξ^-)/{\cal B}(Ω_{c}^0 \to π^+ \bar{K}^0 Ξ^-)$ = (5.5 $\pm$ 2.8(stat.) $\pm$ 0.7(syst.))\%.
