Negative Parity 70-plet Baryon Masses in the 1/Nc Expansion

The masses of the negative parity SU(6) 70-plet baryons are analyzed in the 1/Nc expansion to order 1/Nc and to first order in SU(3) breaking. At this level of precision there are twenty predictions. Among them there are the well known Gell-Mann Okubo and equal spacing relations, and four new relations involving SU(3) breaking splittings in different SU(3) multiplets. Although the breaking of SU(6) symmetry occurs at zeroth order in 1/Nc, it turns out to be small. The dominant source of the breaking is the hyperfine interaction which is of order 1/Nc. The spin-orbit interaction, of zeroth order in 1/Nc, is entirely fixed by the splitting between the singlet states Lambda(1405) and Lambda(1520), and the spin-orbit puzzle is solved by the presence of other zeroth order operators involving flavor exchange.

Masses of the 70- Baryons in Large Nc QCD

The masses of the negative parity 70-plet baryons are analyzed in large N_c QCD to order 1/N_c and to first order in SU(3) symmetry breaking. The existing experimental data are well reproduced and twenty new observables are predicted. The leading order SU(6) spin-flavor symmetry breaking is small and, as it occurs in the quark model, the subleading in 1/N_c hyperfine interaction is the dominant source of the breaking. It is found that the Lambda(1405) and Lambda(1520) are well described as three-quark states and spin-orbit partners. New relations between splittings in different SU(3) multiplets are found.

$D^*Dπ$ and $B^*Bπ$ form factors from QCD Sum Rules

The $H^*Hπ$ form factor for H = B and D mesons is evaluated in a QCD sum rule calculation. We study the Borel sum rule for the three point function of two pseudoscalar and one vector meson currents up to order four in the operator product expansion. The double Borel transform is performed with respect to the heavy meson momenta. We discuss the momentum dependence of the form factors and two different approaches to extract the $H^*Hπ$ coupling constant.

HYPERON RADIATIVE DECAYS IN THE BOUND STATE SOLITON MODEL

The radiative decays of hyperons are studied in the framework of the bound state soliton model. Detailed predictions for the total decay widths and the E2/M1 ratios corresponding to decuplet--to--octet electromagnetic transitions are presented in relation to future planned experiments at CEBAF and Fermilab. The results are compared to those obtained in quark based models.

Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin quantization of a soliton model in 2+1 dimensions

The Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) method is applied to the quantization of the solitons of the non-linear $O(3)$ model in $2+1$ dimensions. We show that this method allows for a simple and systematic treatment of zero-modes with a non-commuting algebra. We obtain the expression of the BRST hamiltonian and show that the residual interaction can be perturbatively treated in an IR-divergence-free way. As an application of the formalism we explicitly evaluate the two-loop correction to the soliton mass.

Lambda(1405) in the Bound State Soliton Model

The strong and electromagnetic properties of the Lambda(1405) hyperon are studied in the framework of the bound state soliton model. We explicitly evaluate the strong coupling constant g(Lambda^*-N-K), the Lambda^* magnetic moment, mean square radii and radiative decay amplitudes. The results are shown to be in general agreement with available empirical data. A comparison with results of other models is also presented.

Hyperons in the bound state approach with vector mesons

We investigate a model for hyperons based on the bound state approach in which vector mesons are explicitly incorporated. We show that for empirical values of the mesonic parameters the strange hyperon spectrum is well reproduced. We also discuss the extension of the model to heavier flavors. We show that the explicit presence of the heavy vectors leads to good predictions for the heavy baryon masses.
