The CRESST Dark Matter Search - Status and Perspectives

In the past years the spotlight of the search for dark matter particles widened to the low mass region, both from theoretical and experimental side. We discuss results from data obtained in 2013 with a single detector TUM40. This detector is equipped with a new upgraded holding scheme to efficiently veto backgrounds induced by surface alpha decays. This veto, the low threshold of 0.6keV and an unprecedented background level for CaWO$_4$ target crystals render TUM40 the detector with the best overall performance of CRESST-II phase 2 (July 2013 - August 2015). A low-threshold analysis allowed to investigate light dark matter particles (<3GeV/c$^2$), previously not accessible for other direct detection experiments.

Higgs mediated Double Flavor Violating top decays in Effective Theories

The possibility of detecting double flavor violating top quark transitions at future colliders is explored in a model-independent manner using the effective Lagrangian approach through the $t \to u_iτμ$ ($u_i=u,c$) decays. A Yukawa sector that contemplates $SU_L(2)\times U_Y(1)$ invariants of up to dimension six is proposed and used to derive the most general flavor violating and CP violating $q_iq_jH$ and $l_il_jH$ vertices of renormalizable type. Low-energy data, on high precision measurements, and experimental limits are used to constraint the $tu_iH$ and $Hτμ$ vertices and then used to predict the branching ratios for the $t \to u_iτμ$ decays. It is found that this branching ratios may be of the order of $ 10^{-4}-10^{-5}$, for a relative light Higgs boson with mass lower than $2m_W$, which could be more important than those typical values found in theories beyond the standard model for the rare top quark decays $t\to u_iV_iV_j$ ($V_i=W,Z,γ, g$) or $t\to u_il^+l^-$. %% LHC experiments, by using a total integrated luminosity of $\rm 3000 fb^{-1}$ of data, will be able to rule out, at 95% C.L., DFV top quark decays up to a Higgs mass of 155 GeV/$c^2$ or discover such a process up to a Higgs mass of 147 GeV/$c^2$.

Cosmic Ray Physics with ACORDE at LHC

The use of large underground high-energy physics experiments, for comic ray studies, have been used, in the past, at CERN, in order to measure, precisely, the inclusive cosmic ray flux in the energy range from 2x10^10 - 2x10^12 eV. ACORDE, ALICE Cosmic Rays DEtector, will act as Level 0 cosmic ray trigger and, together with other ALICE apparatus, will provide precise information on cosmic rays with primary energies around 10^15 - 10^17 eV. This paper reviews the main detector features, the present status, commissioning and integration with other apparatus. Finally, we discuss the ACORDE-ALICE cosmic ray physics program.

Results on QCD Physics from the CDF-II Experiment

In this paper we review a selection of recent results obtained, in the area of QCD physics, from the CDF-II experiment that studies $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=1.96 TeV provided by the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. All results shown correspond to analysis performed using the Tevatron Run II data samples. In particular we will illustrate the progress achieved and the status of our studies on the following QCD processes: jet inclusive production, using different jet clustering algorithm, $W(\to e ν_e)+ $jets and $Z(\to e^+ e^-)+ $jets production, $γ+b-$jet production, dijet production in double pomeron exchange and finally exclusive $e^+e^-$ and $γγ$ production. No deviations from the Standard Model have been observed so far.

Perspectives of detecting CKM-suppressed top quark decays at ILC

Top quark decays are of particular interest as a mean to test the standard model (SM) predictions, both for the dominant ($t\to b+W$) and rare decays ($t\to q+W, cV, cVV,cϕ^0,bWZ$). As the latter are highly suppressed, they become an excellent window to probe the predictions of theories beyond the SM. In particular, in this paper, we evaluate the corrections from new physics to the CKM-suppressed SM top quark decay $t\to q+W$ ($q=d,s$), both within the effective lagrangian approach and the MSSM and we discuss the perspectives to probe those predictions at the ILC.

ACORDE - A Cosmic Ray Detector for ALICE

ACORDE, the ALICE COsmic Ray DEtector is one of the ALICE detectors, presently under construction. It consists of an array of plastic scintillator counters placed on the three upper faces of the ALICE magnet. This array will act as Level 0 cosmic ray trigger and, together with other ALICE sub-detectors, will provide precise information on cosmic rays with primary energies around $10^{15-17}$ eV. In this paper we will describe the ACORDE detector, trigger design and electronics.

Selection of Tau Leptons with the CDF II Trigger System

In Run II of the CDF experiment, traditional dilepton triggers are enriched by lepton (electrons or muons) plus track, di-tau and tau plus missing transverse energy triggers at Level-3 dedicated to physical processes including tau leptons. We describe these triggers, along with their physics motivations, implementation and cross-sections and report on their initial performance.

The CDF-II Tau Physics Program

The study of processes containing tau leptons in the final state will play an important role at Tevatron Run II. Such final states will be relevant both for electroweak studies and measurements as well as in searches for physics beyond the Standard Model. The present paper discuss the physics opportunities and challenges related to the implementation of new set of triggers able to select events containing tau candidates in the final state. We illustrate, in particular, the physics capabilities for a variety of new physics scenarios such as supersymmetry (SUSY), SUSY with R-parity violation, with Bilinear parity violation or models with the violation of lepton flavor. Finally, we present the first Run II results obtained using some of the described tau triggers.

Searches for New Physics at Tevatron

This paper reviews the most recent results on searches for physics beyond the Standard Model at Tevatron. Both the collider experiments: CDF and DO are performing a large variety of searches such as searches for scalar top and scalar bottom particles, search for new gauge bosons, search for long-lived massive particles and general searches for new particles decaying into dijets. The results, summarized here, are a selection of what obtained recently by both the collaborations using the Run II data, collected so far.

CDF Run I SUGRA Results

We present the most recent results of searches for physics beyond the Standard Model using the CDF and D0 detector in the contest of Supersymmetry (SUSY) with Supergravity (SUGRA) constraints. All results described correspond to analysis performed using the past 1992-1996 Fermilab Tevatron Run I data (roughly 110pb-1 per each experiment). In particular we report on searches for stop decay in tau channel assuming R-Parity violation; searches for R-Parity Violating LSP decays in di-muon plus 4 jets channel; searches for resonant slepton production in R-Parity Violating mSUGRA; searches for mSUGRA in single electron channel assuming R-Parity Conservation and searches for stop decay in 3-4 bodies.

CDF Run II Status and prospects

Run II at the Tevatron Collider started at the beginning of March 2001. With extensive upgrades on both detectors and electronics the CDF II began to collect data. This paper reviews early Run II physics results obtained by analyzing data collected before the middle of june 2002. At the present the understanding of the detector performances is rather high so many analysis are already underway.

Probing Physics Beyond the SM at Tevatron

Tevatron Experiments: CDF and D$\not$O collected during October 1992 and February 1996 (Run I) a data sample of roughly 120 $pb^{-1}$ $ p \bar{p}$ collisions at a center of mass energy $\sqrt{s}=$ 1.8 TeV. A large variety of physical studies have been performed using these data. Current paper reviews last results obtained searching for physics beyond the Standard Model. Direct Supersymmetry (SUSY) searches are not part of this review.

Search for the Lepton Flavour Violating Higgs decay H --> tau mu at Hadron Colliders

We study the prospects to detect at hadron colliders the Lepton Flavour Violating Higgs decay H --> tau mu, which can reach substantial branching fractions in several extensions of the SM. Among them, the generic two higgs doublet model can be taken as a representative case where B.R.(H --> tau mu) can reach values of order 10^-1-10^-2. Bounds on the LFV factor kappa_{tau mu} of order 0.8-1.7 can be derived at 95% c.l. at Tevatron Run-2 with 4 fb^-1 for m_H = 110-150 GeV.

Beyond the Standard Model at Tevatron

This article presents recent results of searches for physics beyond the Standard Model using the CDF and the D$\not$O detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. All results shown correspond to analysis performed using the past 1992-1996 Fermilab Tevatron run I data (roughly $100$ $pb^{-1}$ per each experiment). In particular we describe recent Tevatron searches for scalar top in the $b+\ell+$missing-$E_{T}$ channel, for squark and gluinos using like-sign dileptons (LS), for large extra space-time dimensions and the search for leptoquarks and technicolor in the missing-$E_{T}$+heavy flavour jet events. Tight limits on the existence of such models have been set.
