Transverse-momentum-dependent gluon distributions from JIMWLK evolution

Transverse-momentum-dependent (TMD) gluon distributions have different operator definitions, depending on the process under consideration. We study that aspect of TMD factorization in the small-x limit, for the various unpolarized TMD gluon distributions encountered in the literature. To do this, we consider di-jet production in hadronic collisions, since this process allows to be exhaustive with respect to the possible operator definitions, and is suitable to be investigated at small x. Indeed, for forward and nearly back-to-back jets, one can apply both the TMD factorization and Color Glass Condensate (CGC) approaches to compute the di-jet cross-section, and compare the results. Doing so, we show that both descriptions coincide, and we show how to express the various TMD gluon distributions in terms of CGC correlators of Wilson lines, while keeping Nc finite. We then proceed to evaluate them by solving the JIMWLK equation numerically. We obtain that at large transverse momentum, the process dependence essentially disappears, while at small transverse momentum, non-linear saturation effects impact the various TMD gluon distributions in very different ways. We notice the presence of a geometric scaling regime for all the TMD gluon distributions studied: the "dipole" one, the Weizsäcker-Williams one, and the six others involved in forward di-jet production.

Virtual Compton Scattering off a Spinless Target in the AdS/QCD correspondence

We perform a study of the doubly virtual Compton scattering off a spinless target gamma* P -> gamma* P' within the Anti-de Sitter(AdS)/QCD formalism. We find that the general structure allowed by the Lorentz invariance and gauge invariance of the Compton amplitude is not easily reproduced with the standard recipes of the AdS/QCD correspondence. In the soft-photon regime, where the semi-classical approximation is supposed to apply best, we show that the measurements of the electric and magnetic polarizabilities of a target like the charged pion in real Compton scattering, can already serve as stringent tests, and presumably exclude results based on the AdS/QCD correspondence in its minimal version.

On AdS/QCD correspondence and the partonic picture of deep inelastic scattering

We critically examine the question of scaling of the Deep Inelastic Scattering process in the medium Bjorken x region on a scalar boson in the framework of the AdS/QCD correspondence. To get the right polarization structure of the forward electroproduction amplitude, we show that one needs to add (at least) the scalar to scalar and scalar to vector hadronic amplitudes. This illustrates how the partonic picture may emerge from a simple scenario based on the AdS/QCD correspondence, provided one allows the conformal dimension of the hadronic field to equal 1 and use the concept of "hadron - parton duality" .

On the reduction of hypercubic lattice artifacts

This note presents a comparative study of various options to reduce the errors coming from the discretization of a Quantum Field Theory in a lattice with hypercubic symmetry. We show that it is possible to perform an extrapolation towards the continuum which is able to eliminate systematically the artifacts which break the O(4) symmetry.

Divergent IR gluon propagator from Ward-Slavnov-Taylor identities?

We exploit the Ward-Slavnov-Taylor identity relating the 3-gluons to the ghost-gluon vertices to conclude either that the ghost dressing function is finite and non vanishing at zero momentum while the gluon propagator diverges (although it may do so weakly enough not to be in contradiction with current lattice data) or that the 3-gluons vertex is non-regular when one momentum goes to zero. We stress that those results should be kept in mind when one studies the Infrared properties of the ghost and gluon propagators, for example by means of Dyson-Schwinger equations.

Two body scattering length of Yukawa model on a lattice

The extraction of scattering parameters from Euclidean simulations of a Yukawa model in a finite volume with periodic boundary conditions is analyzed both in non relativistic quantum mechanics and in quantum field theory.

Yukawa model on a lattice: two body states

We present first results of the solutions of the Yukawa model as a Quantum Field Theory (QFT) solved non perturbatively with the help of lattice calculations. In particular we will focus on the possibility of binding two nucleons in the QFT, compared to the non relativistic result.

The Infrared Behaviour of the Pure Yang-Mills Green Functions

We study the infrared behaviour of the pure Yang-Mills correlators using relations that are well defined in the non-perturbative domain. These are the Slavnov-Taylor identity for three-gluon vertex and the Schwinger-Dyson equation for ghost propagator in the Landau gauge. We also use several inputs from lattice simulations. We show that lattice data are in serious conflict with a widely spread analytical relation between the gluon and ghost infrared critical exponents. We conjecture that this is explained by a singular behaviour of the ghost-ghost-gluon vertex function in the infrared. We show that, anyhow, this discrepancy is not due to some lattice artefact since lattice Green functions satisfy the ghost propagator Schwinger-Dyson equation. We also report on a puzzle concerning the infrared gluon propagator: lattice data seem to favor a constant non vanishing zero momentum gluon propagator, while the Slavnov-Taylor identity (complemented with some regularity hypothesis of scalar functions) implies that it should diverge.

Scaling Properties of the Probability Distribution of Lattice Gribov Copies

We study the problem of the Landau gauge fixing in the case of the SU(2) lattice gauge theory. We show that the probability to find a lattice Gribov copy increases considerably when the physical size of the lattice exceeds some critical value $\approx2.75/\sqrtσ$, almost independent of the lattice spacing. The impact of the choice of the copy on Green functions is presented. We confirm that the ghost propagator depends on the choice of the copy, this dependence decreasing for increasing volumes above the critical one. The gluon propagator as well as the gluonic three-point functions are insensitive to choice of the copy (within present statistical errors). Finally we show that gauge copies which have the same value of the minimisation functional ($\int d^4x (A^a_μ)^2$) are equivalent, up to a global gauge transformation, and yield the same Green functions.

Short comment about the lattice gluon propagator at vanishing momentum

We argue that all evidences point towards a finite non-vanishing zero momentum renormalised lattice gluon propagator in the infinite volume limit. We argue that different simulations with different lattice setups end-up with fairly compatible results for the gluon propagator at zero momentum, with different positive slopes as a function of the inverse volume.

Non-perturbative Power Corrections to Ghost and Gluon Propagators

We study the dominant non-perturbative power corrections to the ghost and gluon propagators in Landau gauge pure Yang-Mills theory using OPE and lattice simulations. The leading order Wilson coefficients are proven to be the same for both propagators. The ratio of the ghost and gluon propagators is thus free from this dominant power correction. Indeed, a purely perturbative fit of this ratio gives smaller value ($\simeq 270$MeV) of $Λ_{\ms}$ than the one obtained from the propagators separately($\simeq 320$MeV). This argues in favour of significant non-perturbative $\sim 1/q^2$ power corrections in the ghost and gluon propagators. We check the self-consistency of the method.

Non-Perturbative Approach to the Landau Gauge Gluodynamics

We discuss a non-perturbative lattice calculation of the ghost and gluon propagators in the pure Yang-Mills theory in Landau gauge. The ultraviolet behaviour is checked up to NNNLO yielding the value $Λ^{n_f=0}_{\ms}=269(5)^{+12}_{-9}\text{MeV}$, and we show that lattice Green functions satisfy the complete Schwinger-Dyson equation for the ghost propagator for all considered momenta. The study of the above propagators at small momenta showed that the infrared divergence of the ghost propagator is enhanced, whereas the gluon propagator seem to remain finite and non-zero. The result for the ghost propagator is consistent with the analysis of the Slavnov-Taylor identity, whereas, according to this analysis, the gluon propagator should diverge in the infrared, a result at odds with other approaches.

Nuclear models on a lattice

We present the first results of a quantum field approach to nuclear models obtained by lattice techniques. Renormalization effects for fermion mass and coupling constant in case of scalar and pseudoscalar interaction lagrangian densities are discussed.

Asymptotic behavior of the ghost propagator in SU3 lattice gauge theory

We study the asymptotic behavior of the ghost propagator in the quenched SU(3) lattice gauge theory with Wilson action. The study is performed on lattices with a physical volume fixed around 1.6 fm and different lattice spacings: 0.100 fm, 0.070 fm and 0.055 fm. We implement an efficient algorithm for computing the Faddeev-Popov operator on the lattice. We are able to extrapolate the lattice data for the ghost propagator towards the continuum and to show that the extrapolated data on each lattice can be described up to four-loop perturbation theory from 2.0 GeV to 6.0 GeV. The three-loop values are consistent with those extracted from previous perturbative studies of the gluon propagator. However the effective $Λ_{\ms}$ scale which reproduces the data does depend strongly upon the order of perturbation theory and on the renormalization scheme used in the parametrization. We show how the truncation of the perturbative series can account for the magnitude of the dependency in this energy range. The contribution of non-perturbative corrections will be discussed elsewhere.

Gluon and Ghost Propagators in Landau Gauge on the Lattice

We study the ultraviolet behaviour of the ghost and gluon propagators in quenched QCD using lattice simulations. Extrapolation of the lattice data towards the continuum allows to use perturbation theory to extract $Λ_{\text{QCD}}$ - the fundamental parameter of the pure gauge theory. The values obtained from the ghost and gluon propagators are coherent. The result for pure gauge SU(3) at three loops is $Λ_{\ms}\approx 320\text{MeV}$. However this value does depend strongly upon the order of perturbation theory and upon the renormalisation description of the continuum propagators. Moreover, this value has been obtained without taking into account possible power corrections to the short-distance behaviour of correlation functions.

Preliminary Calculation of $α_s$ from Green Functions with Dynamical Quarks

We present preliminary results on the computation of the QCD running coupling constant in the $\widetilde{MOM}$ scheme and Landau gauge with two flavours of dynamical Wilson quarks. Gluon momenta range up to about 7 GeV ($β=$ 5.6, 5.8 and 6.0) with a constant dynamical-quark mass. This range already allows to exhibit some evidence for a sizable $1/μ^2$ correction to the asymptotic behaviour, as in the quenched approximation, although a fit without power corrections is still possible with a reasonable $χ^2$. Following the conclusions of our quenched study, we take into account $1/μ^2$ correction to the asymptotic behaviour. We find $Λ_{\rm \bar{MS}}^{N_f=2} = 264(27) {\rm MeV} \times [{a^{-1}(5.6,0.1560)}/{2.19 {\rm GeV}}] $, which leads to $α_s(M_Z) = 0.113(3)(4)$. The latter result has to be taken as a preliminary indication rather than a real prediction in view of the systematic errors still to be controlled. Still, being two sigmas below the experimental result makes it very encouraging.
