QCD phase diagram and charge fluctuations

We discuss the phase structure and fluctuations of conserved charges in two flavor QCD. The importance of the density fluctuations to probe the existence of the critical end point is summarized. The role of these fluctuations to identify the first order phase transition in the presence of spinodal phase separation is also discussed.

Thermal Dilepton Production from Dropping rho in the Vector Manifestation

We study the pion electromagnetic form factor and the dilepton production rate in hot matter based on the vector manifestation (VM) of chiral symmetry in which the massless vector meson becomes the chiral partner of the pion, giving a theoretical framework of the dropping $ρ$ \^^ a la Brown-Rho scaling. The VM predicts a strong violation of the vector dominance (VD) near the phase transition point associated with the dropping $ρ$. We present the effect of the VD violation to the dilepton production rate and make a comparison to the one predicted by assuming the VD together with the dropping $ρ$.

Charge Fluctuations along the QCD phase boundary

We discuss the properties of the net--quark and isovector fluctuations along the chiral phase transition line in the plane spanned by temperature and baryon chemical potential. Our results are obtained in terms of the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model within the mean-field approximation. The model is formulated at the finite temperature and for non-vanishing net--quark and the isospin chemical potentials. The fermion interactions are controlled by the strength of the scalar and vector couplings in the iso-scalar and iso-vector channels of constituent quarks. We explore properties and differences in the behavior of the net--quark number and isovector susceptibilities for different values of thermal parameters near the phase transition. We argue that any non-monotonic behavior of the net--quark number susceptibility along the phase transition boundary is an excellent probe of the existence and the position of the second order endpoint in the QCD phase diagram.

Thermal Dilepton Production from Dropping rho based on the Vector Manifestation

We study the pion electromagnetic form factor and the dilepton production rate in hot matter using the hidden local symmetry theory as an effective field theory for pions and rho mesons. In this framework, the chiral symmetry restoration is realized as the vector manifestation (VM) in which the massless vector meson becomes the chiral partner of the pion, giving a theoretical support to the dropping rho a la Brown-Rho scaling. In the VM the vector dominance (VD) is strongly violated near the phase transition point associated with the dropping $ρ$. We show that the effect of the violation of the VD substantially suppresses the dilepton production rate compared with the one predicted by assuming the VD together with the dropping rho.

Dropping rho and A_1 Meson Masses at Chiral Phase Transition in the Generalized Hidden Local Symmetry

We study the chiral symmetry restoration using the generalized hidden local symmetry (GHLS) which incorporates the rho and A_1 mesons as the gauge bosons of the GHLS and the pion as the Nambu-Goldstone boson consistently with the chiral symmetry of QCD. We show that a set of parameter relations, which ensures the first and second Weinberg's sum rules, is invariant under the renormalization group evolution. Then, we found that the Weinberg's sum rules together with the matching of the vector and axial-vector current correlators inevitably leads to {\it the dropping masses of both rho and A_1 mesons} at the symmetry restoration point, and that the mass ratio as well as the mixing angle between the pion and A_1 meson flows into one of three fixed points.
