Exploring the unknown territory of Dromions of (2+1) dimensional Generalized Nonlinear Schrodinger Equation

In this paper, we travel through an unknown territory of dromions, to unearth and show the new properties/attributes of dromions which have never been brought to the fore since they were first discovered by Boiti etal [1]. These new attributes are brought out by investigating a generalized (2+1) dimensional Nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equation by exploiting Truncated Painleve approach. The signatures that can be attributed to dromions include existence of firewall and reflection at the boundary, uneven distribution of energy among different bound states, amplitude dependence on adjacent dromions, etc. We have corroborated the main analytical results with numerical simulations also. We categorically state that these properties are universal and can be extracted in any (2+1) dimensional nonlinear partial differential equation. We do believe that these properties which shed more light on the behaviour of dromions may have wider repercussions in nonlinear optics, Bose-Einstein condensates and plasma physics.

Exotic Coherent Structures and Their Collisional Dynamics in a (3+1) dimensional Bogoyavlensky-Konopelchenko Equation

In this paper, we analyse the (3+1) dimensional Bogoyavlensky - Konopelchenko equation. Using Painlev\'e Truncation approach, we have constructed solutions in terms of lower dimensional arbitrary functions of space and time. By suitably harnessing the arbitrary functions present in the solution, we have generated physically interesting solutions like periodic solutions, kinks, linear rogue waves, line lumps, dipole lumps and hybrid dromions. It is interesting to note that unlike in (2+1) dimensional nonlinear partial differential equations, the line lumps interact and undergo elastic collision without exchange of energy which is confirmed by the asymptotic analysis. The hybrid dromions are also found to retain their amplitudes during interaction undergoing elastic collision. The highlight of the results is that one also observes the two nonparallel ghost solitons as well whose intersection gives rise to hybrid dromions, a phenomenon not witnessed in (2+1) dimensions.

Comment on `Painlevé Integrability and Multi-wave pattern for (2+1) dimensional Long wave-Short wave Resonance Interaction system'

In the paper by Sivatharani et al [1], the authors make a tall claim about the integrability of a 2 component (2+1) dimensional Long wave Short wave Resonance Interaction (2C(2+1)LSRI) equation with mixed sign which was already claimed to be non integrable and hence known not to satisfy Painlevé [2] property which the authors show to pass Painlevé test. We have categorically shown how the system does not pass Painlevé test and hence non-integrable reinforcing the claim made by Maruno et al [2]. The authors claim to derive the solutions of 2C(2+1)LSRI equation which ironically do not satisfy the equation. To top it all, the authors claim to have generated lumps and dromions which again defy their very own definition.

Painlev{é} singularity structure analysis of three component Gross-Pitaevskii type equations

In this paper, we have studied the integrability nature of a system of three coupled Gross-Pitaevskii type nonlinear evolution equations arising in the context of spinor Bose-Einstein condensates by applying the Painlevé singularity structure analysis. We show that only for two sets of parametric choices, corresponding to the known integrable cases, the system passes the Painlevé test.

Collision of Multimode Dromions and a Firewall in the Two Component Long Wave Short Wave Resonance Interaction Equation

In this paper, we investigate the two component long wave short wave resonance interaction (2CLSRI) equation and show that it admits the Painleve property. We then suitably exploit the recently developed truncated Painleve approach to generate exponentially localized solutions for the short wave components $S^{(1)}$ and $S^{(2)}$ while the long wave L admits line soliton only. The exponentially localized solutions driving the short waves $S^{(1)}$ and $S^{(2)}$ in the y direction are endowed with different energies (intensities) and are called "multimode dromions". We also observe that the multimode dromions suffer intramodal inelastic collision while the existence of a firewall across the modes prevents the switching of energy between the modes.

Trilinearization and Localized Coherent Structures and Periodic Solutions for the (2+1) dimensional K-dV and NNV equations

In this paper, using a novel approach involving the truncated Laurent expansion in the Painlevé analysis of the (2+1) dimensional K-dV equation, we have trilinearized the evolution equation and obtained rather general classes of solutions in terms of arbitrary functions. The highlight of this method is that it allows us to construct generalized periodic structures corresponding to different manifolds in terms of Jacobian elliptic functions, and the exponentially decaying dromions turn out to be special cases of these solutions. We have also constructed multi-elliptic function solutions and multi-dromions and analysed their interactions. The analysis is also extended to the case of generalized Nizhnik-Novikov-Veselov (NNV) equation, which is also trilinearized and general class of solutions obtained.

Periodic and Localized Solutions of the Long Wave-Short Wave Resonance Interaction Equation

In this paper, we investigate the (2+1) dimensional long wave-short wave resonance interaction (LSRI) equation and show that it possess the Painlevé property. We then solve the LSRI equation using Painlevé truncation approach through which we are able to construct solution in terms of three arbitrary functions. Utilizing the arbitrary functions present in the solution, we have generated a wide class of elliptic function periodic wave solutions and exponentially localized solutions such as dromions, multidromions, instantons, multi-instantons and bounded solitary wave solutions.

Nonintegrability of (2+1)-dimensional continuum isotropic Heisenberg spin system: Painlevé analysis

While many integrable spin systems are known to exist in (1+1) and (2+1) dimensions, the integrability property of the physically important (2+1) dimensional isotropic Heisenberg ferromagnetic spin system in the continuum limit has not been investigated in the literature. In this paper, we show through a careful singularity structure analysis of the underlying nonlinear evolution equation that the system admits logarithmic type singular manifolds and so is of non-Painlevé type and is expected to be nonintegrable.

Exponentially Localized Solutions of Mel'nikov Equation

The Mel'nikov equation is a (2+1) dimensional nonlinear evolution equation admitting boomeron type solutions. In this paper, after showing that it satisfies the Painlevé property, we obtain exponentially localized dromion type solutions from the bilinearized version which have not been reported so far. We also obtain more general dromion type solutions with spatially varying amplitude as well as induced multi-dromion solutions.

The power law character of off-site power failures

A study on the behavior of off-site AC power failure recovery times at three nuclear plant sites is presented. It is shown, that power law is appropriate for the representation of failure frequency-duration correlation function of off-site power failure events, based on simple assumptions about component failure and repair rates. It is also found that the annual maxima of power failure duration follow Frechet distribution, which is a type II asymptotic distribution, strengthening our assumption of power law for the parent distribution. The extreme value distributions obtained are used to extrapolate for failure durations beyond the observed range.
